"The worst battles aren't fought with weapons…
They're fought between truth and the lies people choose to believe."
🌑
The next morning felt… different. Not calm. Not heavy. But dangerous.
Aanya sat quietly on the bed, staring at nothing. Her body had started to heal—but her soul still felt numb.
The door opened. Riaan walked in.
And instantly— Something felt wrong.
The softness from the past few days? Gone. Completely gone.
He stood there, looking at her. Cold. Distant. Unreadable.
Aanya's fingers tightened slightly on the bedsheet.
"Are you feeling better?" he asked.
His tone was normal. Too normal.
She nodded slowly.
"Yes." A pause.
Then— He smirked.
A slow, sharp, cutting smirk.
"Good. Because now you can go back to being useful." Her heart skipped.
"Or wait…" he added, tilting his head slightly,
"maybe you're too used to being useless."
Aanya looked up at him. Confused. Hurt.
But still quiet.
"I… I'll do the work," she said softly. He laughed. A dry, mocking laugh.
"Work? You?" he stepped closer.
"You don't even have the ambition to stand on your own."
His words pierced deeper than before. Because this time— They touched her truth.
She didn't reply. Didn't defend herself. But inside— Something stirred. A memory. A dream. A life she had once wanted.
🌼 Flashback
Aanya stood in her father's house, holding a book in her hands. UPSC Preparation Guide.
Her eyes sparkled with determination.
"I'll become an IAS officer, Papa," she had said confidently. Her father smiled proudly.
"I know you will, beta." She studied day and night.
Ignored distractions.
Built her dreams with patience and passion.
Until one day— Everything changed. Something happened.
Something that forced her to leave it all behind. A reason…
Still hidden. Still painful.
🔥 Back to Present
"And what did you achieve?" Riaan's voice dragged her back.
"Nothing."
Her fingers curled tightly.
"You're not even close to my level," he continued.
"Forget being my equal—you're not even worthy of standing beside me."
Aanya's eyes filled.
But this time—
She didn't cry.
She just whispered—
"You don't know anything about me."
He leaned closer.
"And I don't want to."
– Hospital
At the hospital—
Riaan's mother stood beside her unconscious son.
Her fingers trembled as she held his hand.
"My child…" she whispered, tears streaming down her face.
"You trusted the wrong person."
Her eyes filled with pain. With anger.
With helplessness.
"That girl ruined your life…"
Her voice broke.
"I won't let her stay."
She wiped her tears and looked at him with determination.
"I promise you… I will not let her destroy our family."
🌑 Back Home
Aanya stood near the window. Still.
Quiet. But not the same as before. Her pain had changed.
It wasn't just hurt anymore. It was… awakening.
Riaan walked out of the room, his face hard.
His mind filled with images.
Photos.
Proof.
Accusations.
Lies he believed to be truth.
And behind him—
Aanya stood alone. But this time—
Her silence wasn't weakness.
It was the beginning of something else.
Something stronger.
