The stealth transport cut through the clouds without a sound.
Holden sat in the pilot's seat, his hands resting on the controls while Renna had her face pressed against the window.
"I can't see anything. Can anyone see anything?"
"That's the point of a stealth transport," Emric said from the seat behind her. "If you could see out clearly, others could see in. The light-bending field works both directions."
"So I'm just supposed to sit here and stare at nothing?"
"You could review tactical formations."
"I could also jump out of this window."
"You can't. We're at fourteen thousand feet."
"It was a joke, Emric."
"Jokes typically have a punchline."
Renna turned around and stared at him. Emric stared back, neither of them blinking.
Lyra, sitting in the back row with her spear across her lap, didn't even look up. "If you two start arguing before we land, I will freeze the both of you to your seats."
"She started it," Emric said.
"I don't care who started it."
