Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Ambush in the Whispering Woods

Kael's grin widened, sharp fangs glinting in the dappled sunlight. The initial shock was already fading, replaced by a surge of dark excitement. He stood among the towering trees, green-skinned hands flexing at his sides, and spoke aloud for the first time to the presence inside his head.

"System," he said, voice still hoarse but steady. "Tell me where the hell I am right now. What is this place? What world am I in?"

The translucent blue window pulsed softly in front of him. The same melodious female voice answered immediately, warm and patient, as though she had been waiting for the question.

"Understood, Kael Voss. I will provide a concise overview of your current location and the realm you now inhabit."

A larger holographic map materialized beside the status window, glowing with soft golden lines. It showed a vast continent surrounded by oceans, with glowing markers indicating major kingdoms, mountain ranges, and forests.

"You have awakened in the world of Aetherion, a realm where magic, monsters, and divine powers govern all life. Unlike your original Earth, strength here is measured by levels, ranks, and bloodlines. Most beings are born with fixed potential, but as I explained, your Lust System grants you the ability to break those limits entirely."

The map zoomed in smoothly, highlighting a dense green expanse in the southern-central region.

"You are currently located in the Emerald Whispering Woods, a vast and untamed forest region known as the Borderlands of the Kingdom of Luminara. This area is considered a low-to-mid danger zone, populated primarily by F- to D-rank monsters, goblins, dire wolves, forest slimes, and the occasional rogue beast. The woods lie on the frontier between human-controlled territories to the east and the elven domains of Sylvandar to the northwest. Small human villages and trading outposts exist on the eastern edge, while deeper in the forest you may encounter independent monster tribes and hidden dungeons."

Kael's crimson eyes narrowed as he absorbed the information. "So I'm in some backwater forest full of weak monsters… and I'm currently the weakest thing in it. Great."

The System's voice carried a light, almost teasing note. "Correct. However, the Whispering Woods offer excellent early opportunities. Resources are plentiful, and the proximity to multiple races makes it ideal for your… unique progression method. I recommend securing your first partner soon. Even a single successful encounter will grant enough EXP for your initial evolution and significantly increase your survival chances."

A new notification window appeared with a soft chime:

[Main Quest: First Conquest]

[Objective: Engage in sexual intercourse with any female of any race within the next 48 hours.]

[Reward: +5,000 EXP, First Evolution Token, Basic Skill Unlock – Seduction Aura (Lv.1)]

[Failure Penalty: None (yet). But prolonged inaction will limit your growth.]

Kael let out a low chuckle, staring at the floating quest. The reality of his new existence was sinking in fully now, terrifying, exhilarating, and strangely liberating.

"Alright, System," he muttered, cracking his neck. "Looks like I've got work to do."

The forest around him suddenly felt less like a prison and more like the starting line of the greatest game he had ever played.

Kael rolled his shoulders, feeling the unfamiliar lightness of his goblin body. The forest no longer felt hostile, it felt like opportunity. With a determined nod, he began moving deeper into the Emerald Whispering Woods, bare green feet padding silently over moss-covered roots and fallen leaves.

The air grew thicker with the scent of pine and wildflowers. Sunlight pierced the canopy in scattered golden shafts. He kept low, crimson eyes scanning every shadow. Every rustle made his new instincts twitch. After nearly twenty minutes of cautious exploration, a piercing scream tore through the quiet woods, high-pitched, desperate, and unmistakably female.

Kael's ears perked up. Without hesitation, he broke into a sprint toward the sound, small body surprisingly agile. The scream came again, closer this time, followed by the clash of steel and the snarling growls of beasts. He slowed as he neared the source, heart pounding with adrenaline, and ducked behind the thick trunk of an ancient oak. Pressing his back to the rough bark, he carefully peered around the edge.

What he saw made his glowing eyes widen.

A lavish carriage, ornate with gold filigree, deep crimson velvet curtains, and the crest of a noble house emblazoned on its side, lay overturned in a small clearing. The horses were dead, throats torn open. Four massive wolf monsters, each the size of a lion with pitch-black fur and glowing red eyes, circled the wreckage. Dire Shadow Wolves D-rank predators native to these woods.

A young woman, no older than nineteen, knelt on the ground beside the shattered carriage. Tears streamed down her porcelain face as she clutched the torn fabric of her expensive white-and-gold dress. Her long silver-blonde hair was disheveled, and her delicate body trembled violently. She looked every bit the sheltered noble daughter, perhaps even royalty or high nobility from the Kingdom of Luminara.

Around her, five remaining royal guards fought desperately in a losing battle. Their polished armor, once gleaming, was now splattered with blood.

Kael watched, hidden and breathless, as the fight unfolded in brutal detail.

One wolf lunged at a guard wielding a longsword. The man swung with practiced skill, slicing a deep gash across the beast's shoulder. But the wolf twisted mid-air with terrifying speed, its jaws clamping down on the guard's sword arm. Bone crunched audibly. The soldier screamed as the wolf shook its head like a dog with a toy, ripping the arm clean off at the elbow in a spray of arterial blood. Before the man could even fall, a second wolf pounced from behind, tearing into his neck. His scream cut off in a wet gurgle as his throat was shredded.

Another guard, armed with a spear, managed to impale one wolf through the chest. The beast howled in rage but kept charging, driving the spear deeper into its own body until it slammed into the man. Its massive claws raked across his chest plate, slicing through steel and flesh alike. The guard was thrown ten feet back, slamming into a tree with a sickening crack. He slid down, leaving a trail of blood, and did not rise again.

The remaining three guards formed a desperate circle around the crying girl, but they were outnumbered and exhausted. One wolf feinted left, drawing a guard's attention, while its packmate attacked from the right. Jaws closed around the man's leg, dragging him screaming to the ground. The other wolves descended instantly. Flesh tore. Armor plates were ripped away like paper. One guard's final cry was drowned out by the wet sounds of tearing meat and snapping bones.

Only two guards remained, backs pressed against the overturned carriage, shielding the noble girl with their bodies. Blood soaked the grass around them. The Dire Shadow Wolves snarled, circling slowly, their muzzles dripping crimson, eyes gleaming with hunger.

Kael remained perfectly still behind the tree, pulse racing. The scene was savage, and strangely thrilling.

A soft blue window materialized in front of his face, the System's voice calm and clear in his mind.

[Emergency Opportunity Detected] "Master Kael, four D-rank Dire Shadow Wolves are present. Would you like to engage and eliminate them? Combat EXP would accelerate your early growth."

Kael's lips curled into a bitter smirk. He whispered under his breath, careful not to alert the wolves.

"I would love to, System… but I've got no weapon. What the hell am I supposed to fight them with, my tiny green fists?"

The System responded instantly, a hint of amusement in her melodic tone.

"Correction, Master. As a starting bonus, you were granted an Infinite Storage Box, a personal dimensional space with unlimited capacity. It contains several beginner-grade weapons and items. One of them is particularly suitable."

A new window appeared, showing an inventory list.

[Infinite Storage Box – Contents]

Shadowfang Dagger (Rare Starter Weapon) – Enchanted blade, +15 Attack, ignores 20% of enemy defense. Perfect for low-level combat.

Kael's crimson eyes gleamed with sudden hunger.

A slow, predatory grin spread across his face.

"Alright… let's see what this new body can do."
