Shola ran his fingers through his hair, he was the type that kept a low cut.
"Make sure no part of him is left untouched till he says the truth" he spoke into the phone
"Rest assured" another voice came through. He nodded in satisfaction and ended the call.
Looking down at the table, his eyes landed on the signed contract lying comfortably on the table and his lips curled up in a smirk. He sure wants to run this game to his fulfillment.
******** *********
Few days later, the news dropped. It spread like wildfire around the city and across the states of Nigeria. A prominent businessman, Mr. Felix was killed in a road attack, alongside his securities. There were no survivors.
"That was brutal" words were spoken. Then there came an investigation but there was no result. It was as though the investigation was shut down automatically.
Shola was heartbroken when he heard the news. He stood close to the window, staring out to the city. His eyes were red and his face darkened with anger.
"How Dare He!" He muttered. His face was devoid of emotions but inside him shook with anger. Mr. Felix was a good business partner and now that bastard dared .
He knew the killer, and that broke him more. Sometimes he wondered how Derek (Cain) became such a beast, but the question always makes him laugh cause he is also a monster. But Derek! He closed his eyes remembering their childhood days together. Derek, although manipulative as he always was, couldn't hurt a fly, but after that first kill, he had become bloodthirsty.
A kill which was led by greed involving the four friends has turned more into something darker.
"Motherfuckers!" He cursed.
He didn't want his memory to take him back to the past, but he couldn't help it when her bloodied face appeared in his head. The way she had screamed in pain while begging to be left alone, the way he had tried to protect her but had failed . Only if he had fought harder, only if he had been braver then, things wouldn't have fell apart. Anger surged through him as he thought of it, and he didn't know when it took the worst of him causing him to flip the table and punching the wall. He could kill him right now, Derek doesn't know this but he is now his worst nightmare and he will take his revenge in the most painful way he could. He would grant him the unmade wish of feeling the pain of wrath before sending him to hell to burn to ashes. And the others too won't be left behind.
Looking down through the window he sighted him, the devils advocate, walking into his territory with his subordinates. He sighed and closed his eyes to conceal his anger, putting on a smirk, he looked at his reflection and walked out from his room to the sitting room. His house was a three story building and they would have to take the flight of stairs or the elevator to meet him. He likes tall houses and he felt more comfortable living in it.
Shola was putting on short joggers with no upper clothes, he intentionally wore no upper dress to show off his body, his perfect tattoos, nice biceps and his large muscles.
Shola sat down with his back facing the door, calmly waiting for them. They would be in there sooner, and knowing them, they didn't just come just for the meeting, they needed to see him, to know if he is still the same shola that could be pushed around.
After a while, he heard footsteps behind him. He needed not to turn around to see their faces but he knew it held something funny.
"Are you so ashamed to face us Shola?" He heard behind him. Does he need to turn around before knowing the owner of that voice? No! He doesn't!! That voice belongs to no one but Ben.
Slowly he turned, looking up to the owner of the voice and smirked. He stared at him right in the eye and his eyes didn't falter even for a brief moment.
"I don't think I have any reason to be ashamed Ben!" Shola said. The smile still playing on his lips.
Cain made his way straight to the bar and took a drink.
"You kinda look evil now. I wonder the purpose of such tattoo" Kcee said and Shola moved his eyes towards him.
"I'm good! Thanks for asking" he sarcastically replied to Kcee who paused his lips. He moved his eyes towards Rose who pretended to be admiring the decor of the room.
"Rose!" He called and she finally looked at him, giving him a forced smile.
It's been years she last saw him, and now he looks very different. His not longer the Shola that couldn't stare them in the eyes, neither is he the same skinny guy that they fear he might break in any minute. No! He seems to have more aura. His eyes have not even faltered when staring at them. He now speaks to them with no fear in his voice. And he even looks sexy and attractive.
"Well, well! I kinda have no words for you" she said as she made her way to the sofa a little bit far from him. She felt her heart beating faster with each step. She had liked him before everything changed, she has also confessed her feelings to him once. But his heart has never belonged to someone else except her, Even though she is nothing but a memory. Things has been awkward between them starting from that day she had confessed her feelings to him and he had rejected her in a polite way ,but for her, it was the most hurtful insult she had ever received. His lover was already dead, why does he still love her? And that has been the moment her death had began to make her happy.
"It kinda feels tensed here" Cain said clinking his tongue. "We are not here for formalities, we have business to discuss" he added but Shola looked at him and chuckled drawing attention.
"It's been years cain! Years without seeing each other, why do you think formality doesn't matter?" He asked.
Cain was stunned for a moment before forcing a smile.
"You are doing good Shola! Or do you want to tell us how Dubai treated you before you were able to raise a gang?" Cain asked with a smile, but Shola knew he was mocking him, but he wasn't the slightest offended.
"If you won't find my story boring then I would have to report my past years to my master" he said returning the mockery. Cain laughed, truly this bastard has changed.
"I would have loved to listen if we weren't here for business matter" Ben said and Shola nodded. Cain gulped down the remaining of his drink before teasing him again.
"You asked me about Rose, I guess you are so relieved to see her" he said, he wanted a reaction from him. He wanted to see if he would still bow to him or if he would have to do it with power. But Shola who had seen through him smiled and nodded.
"Honestly I'm relieved to see her! She looks more beautiful" Shola said and Cain had to swallow hard, while Rose felt her heart beat pounding so fast.
"Don't flatter me boy, you don't stare at a married woman in that manner" she said
"Married woman can still be taken away" he said and winked at her. She would break her, he thought as his smile widened.
"That's enough!" Ben suddenly spoke up , making all eyes land on him. "You don't flirt with a married woman Shola" he said and shola could feel something laced in his voice and he chuckled and thought…
"what the heck is going on between this two?"
