Kaysan Al-Miraj POV
Dawn broke through the window, its light falling gently across my face.
This daily routine has long become a habit.
I do not allow anyone inside my chamber while I am asleep. However, someone knocks each morning to check on me and assist me with dressing.
At the dining table, I meet with my family. My father, my mother, my two sisters, and my younger brother who is only three years old.
At noon, if there are no important occasions, I summon my steward. He is the one who accompanies me whenever I wish to leave the palace. This is unknown to most. I have a set of clothing identical to that of our palace workers. At times, I pretend to clean, or suddenly assist with tasks, and speak with those present.
"You are here again? Why do you suddenly disappear and return like that?" one of them said in surprise.
"I apologize. I have been occupied with other matters. I promise I will make up for it," I replied, handing over a small bag containing a modest amount of food that I managed to sneak out when I found the opportunity.
"What are these? Where did you get them?" they asked.
"Please do not ask where they came from. Share them with the others. Do not worry about me, I have already eaten. I hope you enjoy them."
"Thank you for what you have given, young man. We will surely savor this with all our hearts."
After a few more hours, I took my leave. There were still other places I wished to visit.
"Ma'am, how has your business been these past few days?"
"Oh, merciful heavens, you are here. What brings you today?" said the woman who sells bread and sweets, which I have grown quite fond of.
"I have come to buy from you again. I have already finished what I purchased the other day. It feels as though I cannot last in this world without tasting your food."
"You flatter me, child. Your words warm my heart. Because of that, I will give you extra, in appreciation of your loyalty and support."
"Thank you very much. This truly brings me joy. I will return home with a great smile on my face."
After she wrapped the bread and sweets I purchased, I continued walking. My observant eyes took in the surroundings.
The places I passed through were peaceful. Children ran freely, laughter echoed in the air, conversations flowed warmly. I saw couples as well, their actions quietly revealing the love they held for one another.
I then went to a place where I often spend my time. It is elevated, requiring an uphill walk. It may be tiring for those who are not used to it, but for me, it has become second nature.
Another day blessed by the Creator, filled with peace.
I can only wish that this peace will last for a long time.
Whenever I return, there is a secluded passage within the palace that no one guards. I alone am permitted to pass through it, as I have instructed the guards that no one may enter that area without my permission.
It is not my habit to join dinner. At night, I spend my time reading various books. My meals are simply delivered to my chamber, and the servant collects the dishes the following day.
