Chapter 14 - Chapter 13

The storm was intense, making visibility beyond even a few meters difficult for anyone. B1-90 was in charge of his platoon as they marched through the battle field, his objective was to advance until every Republic unit was wiped out and so far, he had been doing well.

So well in fact that he expected he would get a promotion soon for his good work, better yet, most of his force was still with him as the little resistance they encountered had been soaked by other platoons. Not his though, his was prime strength.

" Don't worry boys, we'll make it home in no time once this is over" he said to his fellow droids as they kept marching.

"Roger Roger"

"Roger Roger"

The identical reply rang through his ranks as they all replied individually to him. Suddenly, a blue ionized beam burned through the air in a series of burst shots. They traveled quickly and tore into a separate unit just beside them.

" Enemy contact confirmed ahead, can't get a visual reading but estimated distance is 900 meters out " A droid reported in followed by more burst fire from a different angle.

" Report this back to command, alert the other positions and return fire. Kill the Republic dogs!" B1-90 commanded as he trained his gun and begun firing back, seconds ahead of other platoons also doing the same.

For a second, there was nothing but red beams tearing through the fog of the storm, no confirmations of a hit nor idea that they had dealt with their enemy then suddenly, it came. First from his left, two separate lines of fire tearing into his ranks in burst shots of at least 6 in close succession.

" Divert fire to our left" he ordered as his droids begin returning fire when suddenly another stream of burst shots tore into the from the right and from straight ahead and from the side....within seconds, the area was blanket in blue ionized beams.

" Attack the Republic positions, fire at will" B1-90 commanded as he fired in an attempt to curb the remaining resistance.

Suddenly an explosion tore into his back ranks as multiple droids got caught in its blast, similarly multiple other explosions erupted around him and he suddenly had a thought. What was he to do? They were told to expect minimal Republic resistance yet this seemed more than expected.

" I can't see anything in this storm, how are they hitting us - " A droid complained before getting slammed into the ground by a shot of ionized beam that caught it in its path. They needed orders, should they keep pushing amidst the storm or fall back and regroup?

" Send a request for orders, we need orders " B1-90 ordered as he slowed his advance, his feet hitting a fallen droid as all around him, more fell by the minute. They had to concentrate their fire somewhere for effect.

Back in the safety of the command HQ of TX- 983, he was receiving cryptic reports. Hard to decipher and make out, but it was enough for him to get a general idea of the situation. Some Republic troopers had decided to mount one desperate assault at holding back their assault using the cover of the storm, it was suicidal as they would be soon swept up by the storm.

" Can we reach out units at the forefront?" He asked a B1 droid, the droid looked at the device in hand for a few seconds before replying.

" Negative sir, the interference it too strong. Any message that manages to make it through would be broken " A B1 reported.

"....Advance all our reserves into that storm, they cannot hold out. This battle will be ours"

" Roger Roger "

It intensified, almost like walking deeper into a sinking pit that only ever grew in size. The cross fire proved incredibly dangerous for the incoming droids who had little way of successfully suppressing the incoming attacks. B1-90 was the same, he realized that they were quickly being picked off and had yet to receive any new orders from command. He needed to do something.

Chances are that the storm was interfering with communications, so they wouldn't be getting any new orders. But doing nothing would lose them this battle, they needed this position and could not afford to loose it.

If...they could push close enough to see the enemy, then they could crush them easily. That was the goal but pushing close enough was the issue...they could group up and push aggressively....hmmm, that was what to do.

" All droid forces that can hear me, break ranks and push forward. For the separatist alliances!" B1-90 screamed in righteous fury as he began to pick up the pace.

" We received orders?"

" Are we pushing forward together or just some of us?"

" hey, those guys are running. We should probably follow them "

Within seconds, more droids for varying reasons began to break ranks and push into the hail of fire uncaring for their lives. While they still got caught within the hail of fire, their decision to increase the speed gotten from their slow paced march would prove useful as they began covering the distance faster.

" We can do it, we are almost there " B1-90 said, wanting to encourage his men though a part of him, upon receiving no reply already knew that there were no more. He was alone once again.

The push, indirectly supported by new reinforcement moved ever deeper and nearer to the source. Expectedly , the closer they got, the less fire seemed to be coming their way. They begin to hit their targets, they were doing it.

" Keep pushing, Kill the Republic dogs!!!" B1-90 screamed even louder as he let use, firing in the general direction on the incoming fire. His plan was working, soon they would be able to -

The thought was cut shot when he felt an impact on his back, his body already failing him as he processed what just happened. He turned to look back and saw bursts of beams tearing into them from behind.

How? When did they get behind them? Didn't they kill everyone behind them. How did the republi...c

His power drained as he struggled to keep focus, then another hit, blasting off half his face and soon he fell upon the snow covered ground. His power slowly getting stuffed out as all already him, the droids that had made it through were gunned down from all sides.
