Chapter 13 - Chapter 14: Family Confrontation

The evening air inside the mansion was heavy, as though the walls themselves sensed the storm about to break. Aria stood in the center of the living room, her hands trembling but her eyes steady. Around her sat her parents, their faces carved with sternness, and her elder brother, arms folded, gaze sharp as a blade.

"Aria," her father's voice thundered, "we raised you with values, with dignity. And now you bring shame by choosing a man outside our expectations?"

Aria swallowed hard, her heart pounding. She wanted to scream, but instead her voice came out soft, almost fragile. "Baba, this isn't shame. This is love. Ariyan is not a mistake. He is my choice."

Her mother's eyes glistened with disappointment. "Choice? Do you even know what sacrifice means? Our family's honor is not yours alone to gamble."

The silence that followed was suffocating. Aria's brother leaned forward, his tone sharp. "You think love will protect you when the world turns its back? You're naïve, Aria."

Aria's chest tightened, but she refused to look away. "Maybe I am naïve. But I know what it feels like to breathe when Ariyan is near. I know what it means to dream when he holds my hand. If that's naïve, then I choose it."

Her father slammed his hand on the table, the sound echoing like thunder. "Enough! You will end this madness. Tomorrow, you will meet the man we've chosen for you."

Aria's heart shattered, but her spirit refused to bend. She stood taller, her voice trembling yet fierce. "No. I will not marry a stranger. I will not betray my heart. If you cannot accept Ariyan, then you cannot accept me."

The room froze. Her words hung in the air like lightning, impossible to ignore. For the first time, Aria felt the weight of her defiance — terrifying, yet liberating.

Outside, the rain began to fall again, tapping against the windows like a thousand whispers. It was as if the sky itself was bearing witness to her rebellion.
