Chapter 22 - The First Corpse

He had once been so wealthy and now for the mere sum of one million, he only had ten years of life left.

Was his life really so cheap?

Not to mention that he had sold his soul.

What would happen after selling his soul?

Would he become a demon?

The more he thought about it, the more uneasy he felt.

Without realizing it, he walked closer to the familiar entrance of the casino.

As he staring at the tempting casino doors, he told himself in his heart, just this once.

One last time.

Win a bit more, then stop.

In the end, he once again stepped into that sinful doorway.

...

After finishing this round of deals in the alley, Woo Manyeo had signed a total of twelve contracts.

He even reminded those people to spread the news as much as possibl after completing the contracts.

Suddenly, he heard the summons of that senior demon, Diomedes.

The communication between demons was quite peculiar, like a built-in radio within the soul that could ignore distance and operated on some special frequency.

Diomedes only said one sentence to him, telling him to come over.

Not knowing what was going on, Woo Manyeo had no choice but to stop continuing his transactions and hurriedly left the gambling city.

When Woo Manyeo arrived, he saw Diomedes sitting in an old tavern, not too far from where they had come out.

Diomedes held a bottle of alcohol in one hand while raising two bottles at the same time and drinking straight from them as he gulping down large mouthfuls.

He looked completely devoid of reason, the entire demon seeming somewhat unhinged.

The bar was eerily quiet.

Only the sound of an old jukebox could be heard, playing an old song from the end of the last century.

The melody was melodious and winding.

The sound quality was not high, yet it had a unique charm.

Woo Manyeo walked forward with some disgust.

After becoming a demon, his overly sensitive sense of smell magnified every scent countless times.

The strong smell of alcohol around Diomedes was extremely pungent.

"Senior, how much have you had to drink…"

His foot stumbled and Woo Manyeo kicked into a corpse.

The corpse on the ground was clearly lying face down, yet its head had been twisted one hundred and eighty degrees, facing straight up toward the ceiling.

She was a beauty with excellent bone structure.

Under the dim lighting of the rural tavern, she even had a certain aesthetic appeal as long as one did not look at her eyes, which were bulging out of their sockets from terror.

A wallet had fallen beside the woman.

Woo Manyeo waved his hand and opened the wallet.

Inside was her driver's license.

The dead woman's name was Rodin.

There was also a photo inside the wallet.

The girl in the photo looked very similar to Rodin, seemingly her daughter.

At this moment, Woo Manyeo realized with absolute clarity for the first time that what stood before him was a demon.

Not a human.
