Virtual Reality + Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play Game=Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play Game
It was the dream since Virtual Reality had been realized in full, finally. Though it started in gaming, at least in the modern version of it, the advances that truly matter did not. The starting point was just that, merely the starting point, where there was proof of concept, and that it merely could only exist. That being said, it was merely a novelty at the time and nothing like what most people thought Virtual Reality would be like once it truly existed. However, once the possibility for it to be useful beyond just gaming was discovered and explored, that was when the development of the Virtual Reality truly took place, and the VR Revolution happened.
As the usage of it skyrocketed, but what everyone wondered was, since it originally started in gaming, then where was all this advancement being used back in what got the proof of concept in front of everyone, and thus allowed it to become what it is today. The Demonlight engine, as it was called, is said to be based on an idea for a game itself; thus, there were countless people who wondered if that engine could be used to create not just a true, fully developed Virtual Reality game based on the current fully developed tech, but a true VRMMORPG like the ones seen in countless stories.
However there was something that was hidden from the general public in that there was a such a game in existence as the Demonlight engine was not just based on the idea for a Virtual Reality game but truly based on a fully developed VRMMORPG that does exist however it was developed for testing and the were only ten thousand and nine beta tester players were allowed to gain hidden access to the game called The Decagon. This was the game that everyone who was truly into not just gaming but Virtual Reality gaming knew about in detail. They followed all the posts and updates that originally came out for the game, then one day, the update just stopped coming. Then, once everyone just moved on, thinking it was merely cancelled, that was when the Demonlight engine that it was supposedly built for, appeared, not for gaming but for everything else other than gaming.
This is the story of those ten thousand and nine players who were invited to be beta testers by the company that was funding the project in the first place. The project was funded by Kynatech, the company that was one of the first trillionaire businesses owned by a trillionaire. Those ten thousand and nine players were shipped off to a specialized area where they were only to focus on beta testing The Decagon. As one of the first trillionaire businesses owned by a literal and actual trillionaire, they were able to fund this themselves, but in a manner where everyone had their own personal room and the most state of the setups known to man at the time. This cost billions, however, that was nothing to the person and company that was worth a thousand of them after all. They spared no expense and also did so in locking down the information as well. Having as much money as they did meant that leaks were not even an issue, as they were actively being paid what was a literal fortune not to do so. No one thought about crossing them to do it anyway, as the money was not the issue, as they thought informing the people was. Those people were made an example of why you should never cross a trillionaire, and everyone knew, and it was not hush money either, as they would systemically destroy every point they made to reveal that leaking things is not always the right thing to do in every scenario.
All ten thousand and nine players entered the Decagon. That being the name of the game, that was the first real Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play Game. Something they were all looking forward to. Once logged into the game, they were all split apart into ten groups of one thousand players each. Though they found that somewhat strange, as there were ten thousand and nine of them, which meant that it should not be possible, as that is a prime number after all. Then again, none of them were aware of just why they picked such a strange number to start with, as the extra nine players were something no one was able to understand, just what exactly they were doing it for. There were many theories and head canon reasons but that all they were as no one even knew what number they were themselves in the selection process as they were never told that information either just that they were all selected from the ten different groups that were ten different method of how they were all selected for the beta test of this game.
They also did not have to worry about their lives outside of this beta test, either, as they were not being paid for doing this. The lives that they put on hold to do it would not be fully upended and/or disturbed as Kynatech was handling that issue. They were informed that all matters regarding their lives would be handled by them, so they could truly only have the beta testing of the Decagon to deal with and nothing else.
As the thousand players walk around in the ten starting areas. They were amazed at just how realistic this virtual world was. They truly felt like they were a part of the world itself, as everything one would expect from a true virtual reality game world was here. The five senses were vividly and painstakingly recreated in this space they were in. It was just the usual senses that one would expect, either as it was truly all of them. Touch, smell, and even taste were present here in this world instead of just sight and hearing. They could expect this world with all five of their main senses instead of just the first two that most of them were expecting.
