After a few minutes, Zachary finally felt a little calmer. He rested his back against the seat and looked out through the car window. Buildings and vehicles passed by as the car continued toward the restaurant, but his mind stayed focused on one person: his wife.
He couldn't stop thinking about her. He remembered the calm way she spoke to him over the phone.
Although she sounded affectionate and relaxed, he still wondered whether she was hiding her discomfort.
Zachary knew Sienna well enough to understand that she didn't always tell him when something bothered her. She preferred handling problems herself, especially when she believed she could deal with them without troubling him. But this time, he didn't want her to handle everything alone.
Jessica had already crossed a line by coming to his wife's café, asking to meet her, and Zachary had no intention of letting it happen again.
He glanced at the time on his phone before looking out the window once more.
