Chapter 38 - Is it Jealousy?

After having a pleasant lunch. We stayed in the club room for a bit, Cynthia did too.

"I didn't know, the school have such club. Paranormal investigation club. That's pretty unique." She said looking around.

"Unique? Gino just made it possible. We're not an official club like the others. We're just here. Think of it as a renter, not a permanent resident." I said, now busy typing in my computer.

"And also, let's just say, he had a say in anything school related." Sarah added, but unimpressed.

Cynthia's eyes widened. Hearing something about Gino made her quite interested in him.

She walked towards him and sat on the empty chair beside Gino.

Me and Sarah looked at each other. Then back to Gino and Cynthia.

Sarah was the first one to react.

"Someone fancy golds." She said vaguely.

But me? I immediately understood the implications. The underlying meaning to it. Gino does too.

Well, Cynthia did, and sat straighter in her seat, from leaning too close to Gino.

"I... I'm not." She said defensively.

"I didn't say anything." Sarah retorted with a smirk.

Cynthia stood up and grabbed her bag on the chair across mine. She was looking embarrassed by Sarah's words.

Then she looked at me, like pleading me to believe her. But I didn't say anything.

She was being obvious. And a woman's instinct was always on point. Sarah noticed it, so it mist be true.

"I'll get....going." she left the club room without looking back.

But she forgot her containers on my table.

"Wow Sarah, I didn't know you have such tongue." I chuckled and shook my head.

"It's obvious. The moment I dropped something big, she wasn't even being subtle about it." Sarah said annoyed.

Gino leaned back and laughed too. Spinning his chair to face me.

"Girls always...always act like that. Sarah here's the first one to treat me casually." Gino said, while winking at Sarah.

I could see how she blushed, and looked away.

Something's telling me these two had a thing for each other. And made me feel.....hurt somehow.

I turned my back from the two of them and secretly clutched my chest.

"Do I like Sarah?" I muttered to myself.

I ignore the feeling for now. Since I'm not sure too.

By 2 o'clock, I received a chat from Cynthia. And asked me if I could meet her in the fourth floor of the engineering building.

Which caught me off guard.

I stood up and closed my computer before typing a reply to Cynthia.

"Anthony, where are you going?" Sarah asked first.

"Cynthia sent me a chat, wanted to meet at the engineering building's fourth floor." I said without looking at her.

My fingers were busy typing on my cellphone.

"I'm going with you." She said already turning her computer off too.

"It's alright I-"

"No. I'm going." Sha said firmly after cutting me off.

"I'll stay here, I'm currently searching for paranormal items online. I want to order something for us to use." Gino said, eyes fixed on the screen.

"Alright. Let's go Sarah." I walked towards the door and opened it, waiting for her to step out first.

Sarah and I headed towards the fourth floor of the engineering building. But when we walked in the hallway, Cynthia wasn't there.

We checked every room, but they're all close. Since it's exam day, there's no afternoon classes at all.

The school was basically empty, left for staffs, professors, and other students who's busy with their own club activities, or extra curricular stuff.

I messaged Cynthia again, but there's no reply. Then decided to call her. But it was just ringing.

"Where is she?" Sarah asked, now totally annoyed.

"That's my question too." I looked around, maybe she's just pulling a prank because of what happened earlier.

That's when we heard a noise coming from somewhere. It wasn't in the fourth floor.

Sarah was braver than me, so of course, she followed where the noise was coming from.

We went one floor down.

"Anthony, the stench here is unbearable." Millien said, looking at the dark energy oozing from the third floor's women's restroom.

"I can see it but I can't smell it."

My eyes wandered around and focused on where the dense dark energy was coming out from. It's been closed since Cynthia's accident last friday, now it's open.

The door was fully open and we can see a silhouette inside.

All hairs in my body started standing up. I couldn't even move my feet because of how suffocating the creepy energy was.

But Sarah was already moving towards it. Dragging me along.

[DARK ENERGY DETECTED. EXPOSURE COULD WEAKEN HUMANS]

Crap. That's bad. Totally bad.

"Sarah, wait up. Let me get something."

Sarah stopped and looked at me. Then I looked at Millien. Our silent agreement getting used.

"Millien, you have something on you to ward off dark energy right?" I looked over my shoulder and nodded.

Millien understood it immediately that I need to use the system shop.

I opened my palm and two holy crucifixes materialized out of nowhere.

[2 HOLY CRUCIFIX PURCHASED: 200 POINTS DEDUCTED]

Everytime my hard earned points gets deducted, my heart aches. But still worth it. Since the system sells unlimited use so far.

Except the holy water since one needs to drink it. It's a consumable.

Sarah's eyes widened when she saw the crucifixes coming out of thin air.

"How did you do that?" She asked bewildered.

"Millien. That's his little trick." I lied.

I'm somehow good at lying now, when it comes to the system's existence. And having Millien around helps a lot.

I handed the other crucifix to Sarah and held mine firmly.

"Use that. It can ward off dark energy. Maybe you can't see it through the glasses, since it's an aura. Never let go of it." I said firmly.

Sarah nodded and held onto her own item tightly.

We continued our walk towards the restroom, the door widely open, and the noise was getting louder.

The vicious spirit must have been doing something, I don't want to know.
