Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: My Animal Companions

Mount Myoboku

"Oh, Wanci, you're here. Any movement from those two outsiders lately?"

A white-browed toad hopped over, landing in front of him with light, rhythmic thuds.

This was the White-Browed Toad, the current ruler of Mount Myoboku.

At this point in time, the Great Toad Sage from the original story had not yet been born.

The White-Browed Toad was also Wanci's contracted summon.

"There has been," Wanci replied, his voice steady. "From what I've gathered, those two outsiders seem to have fallen into conflict with each other. I want to take advantage of this opportunity and see if I can eliminate them both."

He did not bother hiding anything. The White-Browed Toad was one of his own.

"I see… but Wanci, those two are incredibly powerful. And that creature they control carries terrifying strength."

"It won't be easy to get rid of them."

The White-Browed Toad's expression grew serious.

From the moment those two had descended upon this world, the toads, with their keen senses, had already felt that they brought nothing but danger.

"One of them, Kaguya, came to me," Wanci continued. "She wants to join forces and eliminate the other, Isshiki."

"It's complicated to explain, but you only need to trust me."

He leaned back slightly in his seat within the Great Toad Hall, his tone calm.

He knew explaining everything would be a headache. After all, he could not exactly say that he knew all this because he came from another world.

"Wanci, I trust you," the White-Browed Toad said gently. "You are the first human Mount Myoboku has ever truly trusted. You've long been one of us."

Wanci nodded. "In that case, I came to borrow a few things. Would that be alright?"

"No need to be polite. You're already family here," the White-Browed Toad replied immediately. "Treat this place like your own home. Take whatever you need."

"Anything you want, just take it!"

"Well… that's a bit embarrassing," Wanci said with a faint smile.

He was, after all, the only human currently tied to Mount Myoboku, and the first to ever sign a contract with them.

Half a native of Mount Myoboku, in a sense.

"Alright then," Wanci said, getting straight to the point. "I need a few Toad Talismans. Also, some toads capable of using sound-based genjutsu. And… does Mount Myoboku have any treasure or technique that can conceal one's presence?"

"Toad Talismans and sound-based toads are no problem!"

The White-Browed Toad opened his mouth and produced several talismans, handing them over.

"These are extremely rare. We can only produce a few dozen each year, and right now, I'm the only one in Mount Myoboku capable of making them."

"Thank you."

Wanci accepted them, a smile forming on his face.

He knew exactly how valuable these were.

In the original story, the Sage of Six Paths had used a similar talisman to save his brother Hamura from the brink of death. It was practically a second life in paper form.

And after recovering, Hamura had even gone on to fight alongside him against Kaguya. That alone spoke volumes about the immense sage power contained within these talismans.

Wanci quickly tucked them into his robe.

"As for something that conceals presence…" the White-Browed Toad muttered, falling into thought. "I'm not entirely sure… let me check the scrolls."

With that, he leapt onto a massive bookshelf and pulled out a scroll larger than Wanci himself.

He began flipping through it carefully.

After a long while, he suddenly let out an excited exclamation.

"There really is something! The ancients did not lie!"

"Our toad ancestors truly possessed boundless wisdom!"

He hopped back down, brimming with excitement.

Wanci was slightly surprised. He had only asked casually, yet something actually existed.

Then again, Mount Myoboku had existed for countless years. As one of the great sacred lands, it was only natural that it possessed more than a few hidden techniques.

"According to ancient records," the White-Browed Toad explained, "if we use flax grown in Mount Myoboku, combined with toad oil and sage arts, we can create a garment that conceals one's presence."

"It allows the wearer to blend into their surroundings, making them extremely difficult to detect."

"But be warned. This does not grant true invisibility. It merely masks your presence, like a chameleon. If the opponent has special visual abilities, or if you get too close, you can still be seen."

Wanci considered this for a moment.

Isshiki would not keep his Byakugan active at all times… would he?

"Good enough," Wanci said with a nod. "Better than nothing. How long will it take to make?"

"I'll start right away and do my best to finish it as soon as possible."

"Much appreciated. I'll come back later to pick it up."

With that, Wanci activated his summoning technique and disappeared from Mount Myoboku.

When he reappeared, he stood within a cavern filled with water.

In his hands, he carried several jars of fine liquor brought from the human world.

This was the territory of the Ape Clan.

In the future, the Monkey King Enma, contracted by Hiruzen Sarutobi, would come from this very place.

A massive white-furred ape appeared instantly.

"Well, if it isn't Wanci," the White Ape King said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Aren't you busy hanging around those toads? What brings you to my humble cave?"

Wanci let out an awkward laugh.

There was a reason for this attitude.

Back then, he had a choice between inheriting the legacy of Mount Myoboku or that of the Ape Clan.

He chose Mount Myoboku.

Naturally, the White Ape King never let him forget it.

"White Ape King, it's been a while," Wanci said with a grin, stepping forward. "Making any fortune lately?"

As he spoke, he handed over the jars of liquor.

The White Ape King's eyes lit up instantly as he grabbed them.

A true connoisseur.

Good drink makes a warrior braver.

"Hmph. Even if I told you, you wouldn't come," the ape snorted, crossing his arms. "You're always running off to those toads."

"Let the past be the past," Wanci said with a chuckle, patting his shoulder. "I came today because I need your help with something."

The White Ape King took a few gulps of liquor, clearly pleased.

"Oh? Now you remember me?" he said, raising an eyebrow.

Wanci nodded seriously. "I do."

"Too late."

Despite his words, the White Ape King had always been loyal and straightforward. He had already decided to help.

"So, who are we killing?" he asked boldly, taking another drink.

Wanci smiled faintly, his tone turning sharp.

"I'm planning to deal with those two outsiders. Want to join me?"

The White Ape King burst into laughter, his face flushing from the alcohol.

"Of course I do! Why wouldn't I?"

"As long as it lives, I'll kill it for you. Even if it's a god!"

Wanci raised an eyebrow. "Those outsiders are not ordinary. You know that."

"Hah! Speaking of which, I've actually fought that male one before," the White Ape King said smugly.

Wanci's expression changed instantly. "What? You fought Isshiki Otsutsuki?"

Seeing his reaction, the White Ape King grew even more pleased.

"Not only that," he said proudly, "we fought for three days and three nights. In the end, I couldn't hold on, so I retreated back to the summoning realm."

"That guy? Honestly, he's nothing special. Still needs training."

With that, he casually downed another cup of liquor.
