Chapter 5 - FIRST IMPRESSION

CHAPTER 5

 FIRST IMPRESSION

JAY JAY P.O.V.

The noise slowly came back.

Like nothing even happened.

People went back to talking, laughing, throwing things—

Yeah... throwing things.

I sat there quietly, trying to take it all in.

Ci-N leaned over slightly.

Ci-N leaned over slightly.

CI-N (whispering): "You okay?"

I nodded.

JAY: "Is it always like this?"

He grinned.

CI-N: "Worse."

...Great.

Before I could respond—

The door suddenly slid open.

BANG.

Silence.

Instant.

I blinked.

What just—

A teacher walked in.

Strict expression. Sharp eyes.

And just like that—

The entire class changed.

Everyone was in their seats.

No noise.

No chaos.

Like a switch had been flipped.

...Okay, that WAS scary.

The teacher scanned the room.

Then his gaze landed on me.

And stopped.

A pause.

A long one.

TEACHER: "...Explain yourself."

I stood up quickly.

JAY: "I'm the new transferee, sir."

His eyes narrowed slightly.

TEACHER: "Name."

JAY: "Jasper Jean—"

I paused.

For a second.

Something about saying my full name here felt... strange.

JAY: "Jay."

The class was quiet.

Listening.

Watching.

Judging.

The teacher hummed softly.

Still looking at me like I was something unusual.

TEACHER: "You're aware this is Section E... Right?"

Not a question.

A statement.

I nodded.

JAY: "Yes, sir."

A pause.

Then—

A quiet scoff.

From the back.

I didn't need to turn.

I already knew.

Keifer.

TEACHER: "Anything funny?"

Silence.

Then—

KEIFER: "No."

Flat.

Unbothered.

The teacher stared at him for a second longer...

Then looked away.

Like he expected it.

TEACHER (to me): "Take your seat."

I nodded and sat down.

But I could still feel it.

The weight in the room.

The unspoken question.

Why is she here?

Class started.

Or at least... it was supposed to.

The teacher began writing on the board.

Some students paid attention.

Most didn't.

Ci-N was already doodling something on his notebook.

I leaned slightly to see.

...Was that a stickman fighting another stickman?

JAY (whispering): "What is that?"

CI-N (whispering): "That's me."

He pointed proudly.

CI-N: "And that's you."

I blinked.

JAY:"...Why am I losing?"

He gasped.

CI-N: "Because you just got here! You need training!"

I stared at him.

This boy...

is impossible.

I almost laughed.

Almost.

From the back—

A chair scraped lightly.

I glanced up without thinking.

Keifer.

He wasn't even looking at the board.

Just staring out the window.

Like none of this mattered.

Like he was somewhere else entirely.

...Does he even care about anything?

As if sensing something—

His eyes shifted.

And met mine.

I froze.

Just for a second.

His gaze was sharp.

Unreadable.

And then—

He looked away.

Like I wasn't worth the time.

Excuse me?!

I frowned slightly.

What IS his problem?

I looked down at my notebook again.

Trying to focus.

Trying to ignore everything.

But one thing was clear.

This class...

This section...

These people...

They weren't normal.

And somehow—

I had just become a part of it.
