Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

When Izuku Midoriya woke up that morning, his head was no longer dizzy. In fact, he felt even more refreshed than usual.

"…What's this? Did hitting that utility pole actually improve my brain?"

"…What am I even thinking about?"

"Better get running."

Shaking his head, Izuku changed into his sportswear and headed out for his morning run.

Morning – Classroom

At 7:00 a.m., Izuku arrived at the classroom first.

The room was completely empty.

He sat down and began previewing the day's lessons.

"Heroes Basics again today…"

"I wonder what they'll teach us this time."

"I'm actually looking forward to it."

He carefully arranged his books on the desk, flipping through them one by one.

At 7:30, students began arriving one after another.

"I didn't expect so many people to confess to Midoriya yesterday!"

"That was seriously shocking."

"Hey, Hagakure, do you have more of those pictures? Send them to me!"

"Shh—keep it down. He's right there."

The first to arrive were Ochaco Uraraka and Toru Hagakure, whispering about Izuku's photos.

Then came Denki Kaminari and Eijiro Kirishima.

"It's over! I didn't finish my homework!"

"Midoriya, did you finish yours?!"

"I did…"

"Then let me copy it!"

The moment Izuku took out his notebook, Kaminari snatched it.

Before Class

After the first class ended—

Uraraka took a deep breath and walked up to Izuku.

"Midoriya…"

"Hm? What is it?"

"…Um… could you bring some childhood photos of yourself?"

"…Why?"

Izuku blinked in confusion.

"Well… it's just…"

"A lot of people online are saying you're really cute now…"

"So… they think you must have been even cuter as a kid…"

"So we thought… maybe we could post some childhood photos…"

Uraraka's face turned bright red as she finished speaking.

"I see…"

"I think it's worth considering," Iida added, having overheard the conversation.

"It could be beneficial for you."

"DEKU."

A sharp voice cut in.

"If you post childhood photos…"

"I'll make sure you regret it."

Bakugo had appeared behind them, glaring intensely.

"…Why? It's just childhood photos…"

"You're not posting them."

Bakugo's tone left no room for argument.

"…Alright."

"I won't."

Izuku sighed.

What's with him today?

Did he wake up on the wrong side of the bed?

Heroes Basics – Unexpected Lesson

By noon, it was time for Heroes Basics.

But today—

Aizawa Shouta stood at the front.

"Today's lesson will be conducted by All Might… and another instructor."

Three teachers? That's unusual…

Izuku thought.

Hanta Sero raised his hand.

"Sir, what's the lesson about?"

"Rescue operations during a flood."

"…Rescue?"

"That sounds intense…"

"This is what heroes do!"

"I'm pumped!"

"I'm actually good in water."

"Hey! I'm not done talking yet!" Aizawa snapped.

The class immediately went quiet.

"You may choose your costumes based on the scenario."

"The training site is far away—we'll take a bus."

"Prepare yourselves."

"Rescue training…"

Izuku clenched his fists.

Training to become the greatest hero…

This is it!

Bus Ride

Everyone changed into their training outfits.

Izuku quietly stored his extra belt with the Mobile Pegasus device—he couldn't carry everything on his body.

As they walked toward the bus—

Uraraka noticed his outfit.

"Midoriya, you're wearing your gym uniform. Where's your hero costume?"

"It got damaged during the last training session."

"It's being repaired by the support department."

"And my mask needs replacing too…"

"So this will have to do for now."

"I see."

On the bus, everyone chatted and laughed.

They had no idea—

They were about to face real Villains for the first time.

USJ – The Disaster Zone

The bus arrived at a massive, dome-shaped facility.

"Whoa… this place is huge!"

"That's the Rescue Hero—Thirteen! My favorite!" Uraraka said excitedly, pointing at the figure in a space suit.

Aizawa frowned.

"Where's All Might?"

"…He seems to have overused his power earlier and is resting."

"…Seriously?"

"…Fine. We'll proceed without him."

Thirteen began explaining—

"Our goal today is to simulate disaster rescue—"

This is getting long…

Izuku thought.

"…That concludes the briefing."

"Got it!"

Izuku and Uraraka nodded.

The Attack Begins

Just as Aizawa prepared to assign teams—

A black, swirling portal suddenly opened in the center fountain.

Crackle…

The portal expanded—

And a face appeared within it.

"Everyone—stay together!"

"Thirteen—protect the students!"

Figures began pouring out of the portal.

"…What is that?"

"Is this part of the test?"

"Don't move!"

"Those are Villains!"

Aizawa activated his Quirk and rushed forward.

The portal widened further—

Revealing dozens of enemies.

"…Where's All Might?"

A figure made of mist spoke.

"And Eraser Head… and Thirteen…"

A man covered in hands stepped forward.

"…We came here to kill the Symbol of Peace."

"…But he's not here."

"…Fine."

"…We'll kill the students instead."

"…Try it," Kirishima muttered.

Izuku Takes Command

Izuku stepped forward, speaking quickly but clearly.

"Everyone, listen!"

"Iida—your speed is the fastest!"

"Head for the exit and call for help!"

"Don't look back!"

"I understand!"

"Hagakure—go with him!"

"Take off your gloves and shoes—stay invisible!"

"Got it!"

"Iida ran immediately. Hagakure followed, removing her gloves as she moved."

"Yaoyorozu—create communication devices!"

"In case we get separated!"

"Yes!"

"Jiro—prepare wide-range sound detection!"

"Koda—use animals to monitor surroundings!"

"Understood!"

"Others—form a defensive perimeter!"

"Protect those with support roles!"

"Got it!"

"…You organized that quickly."

The mist Villain spoke again.

"We are the League of Villains."

"We came to eliminate All Might."

"But since he isn't here…"

"…you'll do."

Suddenly—

The mist appeared behind them.

"Now then—shall we begin?"

"Take this!"

Bakugo and Kirishima attacked instantly—

Blasting straight through the mist—

…but it reformed immediately.

"…Impressive."

"…Very impressive."

"Everyone—spread out!"

Izuku shouted.

He tossed communicators to Bakugo and Kirishima.

The mist surged outward—

Separating the students.

The real battle had begun.
