Chapter 58: The Great Mage of the Mythic Era

The elf sitting upon the throne gazed at Yumesaki's group, her eyes scanning each of them—from Yumesaki to his companions—one by one.

"How very intriguing. There isn't a single fluctuation of Mana coming from any of you. It seems you aren't Mages."

Upon realizing this, a faint, entertained smile played across the elf's lips.

"You've piqued my interest. You clearly aren't Mages, yet you were able to pass through the barrier I erected. Tell me, how exactly did you manage that?"

She paused, her golden eyes narrowing slightly. "In exchange for the truth, I might just overlook your intrusion this time and forgo holding you accountable."

Hearing those words, Yumesaki's gaze remained fixed on the female elf sitting cross-legged in her chair. He couldn't help but take a sharp, silent breath.

He had recognized her identity instantly. After all, her appearance was far too distinct to be anyone else.

Suppressing the shock swirling in his chest, Yumesaki spoke slowly and respectfully. "It is an honor to meet you, Great Mage Serie. My name is Kazuma Yumesaki, a traveler from another world."

There was no mistake. The female elf before him was none other than the master of Frieren, the protagonist of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

She was the founder of the Continental Magic Association and stood at the absolute pinnacle of human Mages. A Great Mage born in the distant, mythic era of the past—a figure so ancient that even demons had long since forgotten the sheer terror she once inspired.

In the chronicles of her world, Serie was a living grimoire, a walking library containing nearly every spell in human history. She was the Mage who came closest to the status of the all-knowing and almighty Goddess of the continent.

She was also, without question, an undisputed peak-level powerhouse of this universe.

"A traveler from another world?"

Serie stared at Yumesaki's group, her brows arching in surprise. This answer was far more fascinating than she had imagined—absurd, even—and it only served to fuel her excitement.

"Where is your proof?"

Having lived from the dawn of the mythic era to the present day, Serie felt as though she had seen everything there was to see. But as for people from another world? That was something she had truly never encountered.

While she had occasionally wondered if other worlds truly existed, she unfortunately lacked the specific magic required to travel between dimensions. Thus, the proposition had remained unproven.

Now, a group claiming to be from another world had suddenly appeared before her. Even Serie, who had lived for untold millennia, couldn't suppress a spark of genuine thrill.

Yumesaki recalled the descriptions of Serie from the original story. She was a Great Mage who favored those with burning ambition and a thirst for conflict. However, she wasn't a "villain" in the traditional sense.

In truth, Serie's personality was simply incredibly awkward. Because she only understood the language of battle, she struggled to express her true feelings to her own apprentices.

Despite disliking an era where magic became accessible to everyone, she had still founded the Continental Magic Association. Despite claiming to only love war, she filled her garden with flowers using a spell that could make a field bloom.

She did all of this because those were the things her favorite disciple, Flamme, had wished for and loved.

She often claimed she had taken Flamme on as a mere whim, and frequently remarked that taking human apprentices was a mistake because humans could never hope to reach her level before their brief lives ended. Yet, after Flamme, Serie continued to take on many human students.

Long after those students passed away—leaving behind magical achievements that couldn't even graze the hem of Serie's robes—she could still remember every one of their personalities and their favorite spells with perfect clarity.

More importantly, she never once regretted taking them in, even if their names were never recorded in the annals of history. Furthermore, despite her love for war, she was never the one to instigate it.

Without a doubt, this was a person—or rather, an elf—one could communicate with.

With that in mind, Yumesaki let out a wide smile and made an inviting gesture. "Great Mage Serie, this door is the bridge that connects two worlds."

"Step through this threshold, and you can reach an entirely new realm. So, would you care to take a look for yourself?"

Serie stared intensely at Yumesaki. Her hostility-detection magic informed her that the man harbored no ill will whatsoever. On the contrary, he seemed to look toward her with a sense of expectation.

"If that is the case, then let me see it—what another world truly looks like."

Tempted by the allure of the unknown, Serie decided to see it for herself. She drifted light as a feather from her seat, gliding across the dozen or so meters between them until she stood directly in front of Yumesaki.

Yumesaki took several steps back to clear a path.

Serie stepped through the air-door and entered the world of One Piece.

"This is... a ship's cabin?" Serie immediately identified their location within the interior of a massive vessel.

"Precisely. We are currently inside a cabin. Please, follow me, Great Mage Serie."

Yumesaki led Serie out of the cabin and onto the ship's deck.

Serie looked around. What met her eyes was no longer a vast plain or a series of rolling mountain ranges. Instead, she saw a boundless, infinite ocean and the scattered sea routes that spanned across it. It was a vista she had never witnessed—a new world entirely distinct from her own.

"The river water... it's flowing upward."

Serie turned her head, spotting Reverse Mountain and the peculiar streams of water that were defying gravity to climb toward the peak.

"That is Reverse Mountain. Due to the unique geographical environment, the currents here flow uphill."

"A most interesting river."

Serie was genuinely intrigued. At the very least, her world didn't possess such a unique natural phenomenon.

"What is that place?"

At that moment, Serie suddenly pointed toward a specific direction. "I can see bubbles... thousands of them, rising from the surface of the land."

Hashirama and Minato exchanged a glance, both seeing a flash of shock in each other's eyes. As people who were familiar with the One Piece story, they knew there was only one place in this world where the ground itself released bubbles.

The Sabaody Archipelago.

But the problem was that this was Serie's first time in this world. Furthermore, Reverse Mountain was standing directly in front of them, completely blocking their line of sight. Yet, she could see Sabaody clearly? That was beyond impressive.

This woman was far more "illogical" than they had imagined.

Yumesaki, however, wasn't surprised at all. This was Serie—the Great Mage who had lived from the mythic era to the present, mastering nearly every spell in existence. A simple Clairvoyance spell was child's play for her.

He remembered in the original story, a Mage specializing in clones sent a double to take an exam. Serie had seen through the trick instantly, peering across thousands of mountains and rivers to spot the real person enjoying afternoon tea miles away.

"Great Mage Serie, the place you are looking at is called the Sabaody Archipelago. it has a unique bubble culture. In this world, it's nicknamed the 'Island of Failure and New Beginnings'."

"The Island of Failure and New Beginnings... a meaningful name," Serie mused.

She nodded, shifting her gaze to continue observing this new world. But then, she seemed to spot something else. She let out an audible click of her tongue, her expression turning quite unpleasant.
