Chapter 37: Dungeon
After consuming the Super-Class Danger Beasts, the world of Akame ga Kill held absolutely no meaning for Yumesaki anymore.
The thought of leaving flashed through his mind right then and there.
Because of that, early the next morning, he called all of his maidservants to join him for a final meal together.
Right at the dining table, he made his announcement.
"I'm leaving. As of this moment, you are all free."
Esdeath, Sheele, Leone, Mez, and Suzuka all stared back at him with completely blank expressions.
Esdeath lowered the knife and fork in her hands, looking at him with deep curiosity. "Where exactly are you going?"
"Leaving this world, of course," Yumesaki replied calmly.
"Huh?! Are you planning to die?!" Leone blurted out, her voice filled with shock.
Yumesaki was completely speechless. Channeling his Shadow Magic, he manipulated the shadows to bind Leone's arms and legs, hoisting her upside down in the air.
"You really have a lot of nerve showing such disrespect to your own master. You deserve a little punishment."
"What do you mean, planning to die? Even if you die, I won't."
"With my current lifespan, waiting around for you to grow old and pass away would be nothing. Even living long enough to see your grandchildren off on their final journeys would be an absolute breeze for me."
"When I say I'm leaving this world, I mean it literally."
"I don't belong to this world. I'm just a traveler from another universe. Now that I've had my fun here, I'm planning to move on. You can all go back to your respective homes and look for your own mothers."
Esdeath froze for a moment, her pupils shrinking drastically. "A traveler from another world?"
"Precisely."
"So the magic you use... is it actually real magic?"
"Genuine and authentic."
"Ahaha..." Esdeath couldn't help but burst into a hearty laugh. For the past few days, she had been racking her brain trying to figure out what kind of ability Yumesaki was actually employing.
As it turned out, it was exactly what he had claimed all along—he was using magic.
She had never believed that magic existed in this world, but the reality was simply that he came from a completely different universe.
It was utterly absurd.
"Since I am your spoil of war, I will obviously be following you to this other world."
Esdeath spoke without a single shred of hesitation.
In this world, she was already considered the strongest. Aside from a monster like Yumesaki, no one could match her power. Yet, her battle against him couldn't even be called a crushing defeat; it was a flat-out instant kill.
There was absolutely no thrill of combat to be found.
But if it were another world, who knew? Maybe she could encounter a whole new league of powerful masters and fight to her heart's content.
On top of that, she was incredibly curious about what another world would even look like.
"You want to come with me?"
Yumesaki cast a surprised glance at Esdeath. It seemed even he hadn't expected her to make such a sudden decision.
"Am I not allowed to?" Esdeath countered.
"It's not that you're not allowed." Yumesaki pondered for a moment before giving a straightforward nod. "Alright. I've grown quite used to having you around these past few days anyway. If you want to come along, then so be it. As for the rest of you..."
Yumesaki shifted his gaze toward Leone and Sheele. "Go on back to your Night Raid."
Leone and Sheele instantly stiffened, their bodies tensing up instinctively.
"You... you... you actually knew who we were?!"
"What's so strange about that?" Yumesaki said smoothly. "You two didn't honestly think you were hiding your identities that well, did you?"
Seeing that Yumesaki had no intention of making a move against them, Sheele patted Leone's shoulder, signaling for her to calm down.
She looked at him curiously. "When did you first figure us out?"
"The very first time we met," Yumesaki replied.
Leone covered her face with her hands and groaned, "So you knew who we were right from the start?"
"Of course," Yumesaki nodded.
Leone was completely baffled. "If that's the case, why did you keep the two of us around?"
"I have no grudges or enmity against you guys, so why wouldn't I agree to keep you? Besides, when two beautiful girls are perfectly willing to serve as my maidservants, on what grounds should I refuse?" Yumesaki asked in return.
For a moment, Leone didn't even know how to complain. The man's logic was surprisingly sound.
Even so, she still tried to argue back. "We didn't do it willingly back then! You forced us into it!"
Yumesaki cut straight to the heart of the matter. "But you didn't leave either, did you?"
Leone had no words.
Sheele fell silent as well.
"Alright, that's enough. You two are free to go now," Yumesaki said with a wave of his hand.
Leone and Sheele felt completely helpless. Although they were incredibly curious about what another world looked like, their main priority lay with the Revolutionary Army. There was no way they could leave everything behind to follow Yumesaki into a brand-new universe.
With that, they stood up and took their leave.
As for the remaining two, Suzuka and Mez, after pondering the matter for a short while, they ultimately couldn't suppress their curiosity about the other world. They decided to maintain their roles as maidservants and journey alongside Yumesaki to the new universe.
Seeing their choice, Yumesaki wasn't stingy with his rewards either.
Utilizing Archive Magic, he bestowed several types of magic upon Mez, Suzuka, and Esdeath respectively.
At the same time, he granted Mez a Zoan-type Devil Fruit.
After all, Mez's primary weakness was that her defensive health pool was far too low; the moment she took a hit, she was easily defeated.
A Zoan-type Devil Fruit was the perfect fix for someone like her.
Furthermore, it was the Mythical Zoan model: Phoenix.
Not only would it allow her to heal her own wounds, but it also granted her an incredibly overflowing vitality.
When it came to magic, the arts Mez acquired were High Speed Magic and Slow Magic.
One spell allowed her to accelerate her own movements, while the other could drastically slow down her enemies.
She clearly intended to completely outpace anyone in terms of speed, leaving them in the dust as she sped down the path of the Flash.
Suzuka, on the other hand, learned Disassembly Magic.
This was a lower-tier variation of the Crush Magic wielded by Gildarts in Fairy Tail.
Crush Magic was a supreme, top-tier destructive magic capable of instantly smashing the atomic bonds of any matter it touched into tiny pieces. When used against living beings, the effect depended entirely on the caster's will—it could either reduce the target to dust on the spot or break their body into thousands of tiny, harmless fragments.
Even Gildarts, despite having mastered the magic, still managed to cause minor accidental destruction from time to time.
It got to the point where Magnolia had to actively enter "Gildarts Shift" mode whenever he returned.
Because of this, Yumesaki refrained from giving Suzuka the full power of Crush Magic, opting instead to pass down Disassembly Magic, its direct subordinate spell.
While its destructive capacity wasn't quite as overwhelming as Crush Magic, it was by no means weak either.
It suited Suzuka perfectly.
As for Esdeath, she took to learning Ice-Make Magic, as she felt the spell resonated perfectly with her innate abilities.
It allowed her to build upon her existing foundations, granting her the ability to take her cryomancy a step further.
In addition to that, she also picked up Gravity Magic and Teleportation Magic to drastically enhance her mobility and suppress her opponents' speed.
With these additions, the strength of the three women skyrocketed instantly.
If they were to fight their past selves now, defeating them wouldn't take any more effort than blowing away a speck of dust.
After completing their preparations, Yumesaki took Esdeath, Mez, and Suzuka and finally departed from the world of Akame ga Kill.
They set off toward a brand-new universe.
As for whatever fate awaited the world of Akame ga Kill next, it no longer had anything to do with Yumesaki.
However, he estimated that the Revolutionary Army would most likely secure their victory.
After all, he had already taken out Prime Minister Honest and carried Esdeath away. If the Revolutionary Army somehow still managed to lose to the Empire under these conditions, every single one of them might as well line up to have their throats slit collectively.
Living on would just be a waste of food.
But judging by the progression of the original storyline, the Revolutionary Army shouldn't be quite that pathetic.
Toppling the Empire and establishing a completely new nation shouldn't pose any real problem for them.
As for where this newly born nation would head in the future, Yumesaki didn't care in the slightest.
Still, no matter how bad a newly established country might turn out, it couldn't possibly be worse than what it was before.
And so, Yumesaki left without looking back.
...
Stepping through the spatial gateway, Yumesaki arrived instantly in the new world.
This time, the setting was entirely different from his previous two arrivals. The first two times, Yumesaki had been dropped right into the middle of dense forests, completely isolated with no signs of human civilization anywhere.
This time, however, Yumesaki found himself dumped straight into a Dungeon.
The moment he set foot inside the cavernous space, a massive horde of axe-wielding Minotaurs came charging frantically right toward him.
Well, this was a twist...
Before Yumesaki could even raise a hand, a barrage of ice spears shot forward like cannonballs, instantly impaling the charging Minotaurs through their chests.
It was Esdeath. She had acted first.
The moment the Minotaurs perished, their large bodies dissolved into ash, vanishing completely without a trace.
Left behind in their place were dark, glittering crystals.
Could these things perhaps be Magic Stones?
Just what kind of world had he stumbled into this time?
Yumesaki couldn't help but feel curious. Then again, across various alternate universes, the concept of a Dungeon was pretty standard equipment, and monsters dropping Magic Stones was a common trait shared by many fantasy realms.
He activated his Clairvoyance Magic to scan the surroundings, quickly discovering that the Dungeon was immensely vast.
Moreover, this labyrinth wasn't just a single floor; it consisted of multiple levels stacked atop one another.
Layer after layer, each floor grew progressively larger than the one above it, and he couldn't see the bottom floor at all.
There was a powerful, oppressive force deep below that actively veiled Yumesaki's vision.
Finding himself blocked from looking down, Yumesaki was forced to direct his gaze upward instead.
He then discovered that the upper sections of the Dungeon similarly comprised layer upon layer, shrinking in size as they went up for about a dozen floors.
Directly above the Dungeon's exit stood a grand and breathtaking metropolis.
Rising straight from the center of this magnificent city was a towering monument, which served as the absolute focal point of the settlement.
Inside the massive tower, a vast number of adventurers bustled about, alongside a specific group of gods and goddesses that looked incredibly familiar to his eyes.
Yes, there was no mistaking it—they were actual deities.
The moment his eyes fell upon these gods, Yumesaki immediately realized exactly where he had landed.
This was the world of DanMachi.
Its full title was supposed to be Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?.
The magnificent city sitting directly on top of the labyrinth had to be the Labyrinth City, Orario.
And that towering structure right at the heart of the city was the Tower of Babel.
Once he understood the nature of this world, Yumesaki decisively withdrew his gaze. Staring so blatantly without any restraint could easily draw the attention of those higher beings.
Of course, anyone familiar with the story knew that the gods living in Orario had essentially sealed away their divine might.
They could catch fevers, get injured, suffer from colds, and experience exhaustion, appearing virtually no different from ordinary mortals.
Yet, despite their sealed state, they were still gods. They could instantly discern human lies and possessed various esoteric abilities that defied conventional logic.
The God of Fire could rely on supreme craftsmanship to forge growth-type equipment.
The Goddess of Beauty could use her innate charm to drive Dungeon monsters into an absolute frenzy.
The wine brewed by the God of Wine was potent enough to drive any mortal completely insane.
As of right now, Yumesaki had no intention of dealing with the gods just yet.
But right at that moment, the entire Dungeon suddenly began to shudder violently, as though it were throwing a massive fit of rage.
An endless wave of monsters began spawning rapidly from the walls, every single one of them instantly entering a state of wild ferocity. Their eyes locked onto Yumesaki, entirely consumed by an intense, murderous intent.
