Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Hunt

Rehan and Ajay had spent months protecting Sami's secret, but the truth could no longer stay hidden.

The village was living in fear. Animals were disappearing from farms, strange sounds echoed through the forest every night, and several mysterious attacks had left everyone terrified. Rumors spread quickly, and before long, people began whispering Sami's name.

The police arrived to investigate. Soon, the entire village joined the search.

What nobody knew was that Sami was not the only infected person.

Hidden among the search party was another young man named Arman. He looked completely normal, but beneath his calm appearance was a dark secret. Like Sami, he had been infected years ago. Unlike Sami, however, Arman had embraced the monster inside him.

Long ago, Sami and Arman had been close friends.

As children, they were curious and adventurous. One day, while exploring the outskirts of an abandoned island, they discovered an old mansion that locals had always warned them to avoid.

Inside the mansion, they found a strange wooden chest covered in ancient symbols.

A young woman who had accompanied them opened the chest despite numerous warnings carved into its surface.

The moment the chest opened, a dark spirit escaped.

The spirit possessed Sami, disappearing into his body before anyone could react. The woman collapsed unconscious, freed from the curse she had unknowingly carried for years.

At first, nothing happened.

Days became weeks, and weeks became months.

Then the changes began.

Sami started hearing voices. His senses became sharper. He became stronger, faster, and increasingly difficult to control. During nights when the creature inside him grew restless, he escaped into the forest and hunted animals.

Arman was affected as well, but the darkness transformed him differently. Instead of fighting it, he accepted it.

Over the years, he became something far more dangerous.

When villagers began noticing strange attacks, Arman secretly attacked people and left evidence pointing toward Sami. His goal was simple: turn the entire village against Sami and force him into the open.

Soon, police and villagers formed large search groups.

Arman even joined them.

Every day he pretended to help while secretly directing suspicion toward Sami.

Meanwhile, another infected girl had begun showing the same symptoms Sami once displayed. Before she could explain what was happening, Arman silenced her to protect his secret.

The incident convinced everyone that the threat was growing.

Soon, armed police officers surrounded the area near Sami's home.

"They know," Ajay said nervously.

Rehan looked toward the forest.

"Then we don't have much time left."

That night, villagers, police officers, and search teams closed in from every direction.

Sami, Ajay, and Rehan tried to escape through the river that connected the village to the sea.

But Arman was waiting for them.

The chase exploded into chaos.

Flashlights illuminated the darkness. Villagers shouted. Police boats pursued them through the water.

As the fight continued, Sami struggled desperately to control the creature inside him. He refused to hurt innocent people, even when they attacked him.

Rehan stood beside him the entire time.

"You are not a monster," Rehan shouted. "Remember who you are!"

But during the battle, tragedy struck.

Rehan was fatally injured while protecting Sami and Ajay.

The moment Sami realized what had happened, everything changed.

The grief, guilt, and anger he had suppressed for years erupted at once.

The creature inside him nearly took complete control.

A terrifying transformation began.

For the first time, everyone witnessed the true power hidden within him.

The villagers stepped back in fear.

The police realized that the stories had been true all along.

Yet even in his rage, Sami refused to become the monster everyone believed him to be.

With Ajay's help, he regained control before it was too late.

As dawn approached, the village stood behind them, consumed by fear and confusion.

Rehan was gone.

Their home was gone.

Their lives would never be the same.

With no place left to stay, Sami and Ajay boarded a small boat and sailed away from the village.

As the shoreline disappeared into the morning fog, neither of them spoke.

They had lost a friend.

They had lost their home.

And somewhere in the distance, Arman was still alive.

Watching.

Waiting.

The hunt was not over.

It had only just begun.
