A new day dawned. Jenny woke up in a daze.
"What time is it?" she asked, rubbing her eyes while still lying in bed.
"It is now ten in the morning," Gaia voice echoed through the room. "Would you like me to open the curtains?"
"Go ahead," Jenny replied.
With a soft whoosh, the floor-to-ceiling windows in the bedroom slid open automatically, revealing the beautiful mountain-and-river scenery outside.
Jenny sat up and asked casually, "What's Lucien doing?"
"I do not have permission to disclose the master's whereabouts," Gaia answered.
"Bruh." Jenny shrug helplessly. She dragged her heavy body out of bed and headed into the adjacent bathroom.
The sound of running water came from inside. By the time she arrived, a basin of warm water had already been prepared for her.
Jenny began washing her face.
"Please hurry, Jenny. The master is calling for you," Gaia's voice rang out again.
"Got it," Jenny replied lazily. "Let me use the restroom first."
She turned and entered the bathroom. The door closed automatically behind her.
After she finished and stood up, the sound of flushing came from beneath her.
Jenny clicked her tongue. The door opened again and she stepped out into the hallway, heading downstairs.
"Damn, this is actually wild."
She couldn't help but mutter in amazement.
In just this short period, Lucien had actually installed a complete smart-home system throughout the house, all controlled by the Gaia AI.
Jenny had no idea how he had pulled it off. As a liberal-arts student she understood none of the technical details, but the convenience was very real.
No more manually turning on the computer. No more pulling curtains. No more flipping light switches.
She had also discovered that Lucien's system didn't just control appliances. It could manage almost every facility in the house—doors, faucets, the microwave, everything. It was downright magical.
When she reached the living room downstairs, she saw Lucien standing there wearing his VR gear, apparently playing a game.
What struck her as odd was his strange posture. He stood perfectly still on the VR platform, feet not moving at all. His left arm was raised straight out, while his right hand swung back and forth repeatedly.
The pose looked suspiciously like… that.
This guy isn't actually playing some NSFW game right now, is he? Jenny's mood instantly improved at the thought.
She still remembered how, during their first stream together, Lucien had jokingly mentioned he once developed an adult game but decided to keep it for his own private use.
At the time she had thought he was just messing around. Now, seeing this, she was starting to believe he might have been telling the truth!
Is this guy really playing that kind of game in the living room while living with his sister?! The absolute audacity!
The thought made her face flush red, but she quickly made an equally bold decision.
She would sneak over, snatch the VR headset off Lucien's head, and put it on herself to see what was going on.
If it really was an NSFW game… well, to be honest, Jenny was quite curious to try it.
After all, everyone was curious about that sort of thing, especially a fully immersive VR version.
Decision made. 'Let's do this.'
Jenny tiptoed toward Lucien.
She hadn't even gotten close when Gaia's voice suddenly rang out in the living room. "Master, Jenny has arrived."
"Aaaah" Jenny jumped in shock. "Why is this AI such a narc?!"
She had been planning to pull a fast one on Lucien, only for Gaia to rat her out instantly!
Gaia remained silent. Lucien calmly removed his VR headset and looked at Jenny, who was now standing right in front of him. His brows furrowed. "Sis, why are you creeping around like that?"
"Nothing! I just wanted to jump-scare you," Jenny blurted out. She clasped her hands behind her back and awkwardly took two steps backward.
"Whatever." Lucien didn't press the matter. He pointed toward the dining area. "Breakfast is on the table. I got it from the community clubhouse restaurant. I already ate, it hits the spot."
"Oh." Jenny walked over. While eating she said, "By the way, Luc, even if you're young you still need to pace yourself. Doing that first thing in the morning is wild."
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Lucien looked completely confused. "Stop wasting time and eat. Once you're done I want you to playtest a game for me."
"A game? You cooked up another one?" Jenny's eyes lit up.
"That's right." Lucien nodded. "Just something I threw together to pass the time."
"What genre?" Jenny asked.
"Um… a card game, I guess." Lucien thought for a moment. "Similar to Poker."
"Poker?" Jenny was stunned. "Luc, why would you make a Poker clone? You can play that anytime. Why bother making a VR version?"
"It's not exactly like Poker. It's a little more complex. You'll see in a second," Lucien said.
"Fine."
Jenny finished breakfast in record time and stepped in front of Lucien. "All right, how do we play?"
"Go put on the VR gear." Lucien pointed to the second VR setup in the living room.
"Okay."
Jenny quickly slipped into the haptic suit and stepped onto the platform.
"All right, booting it up. I'll use Subnautica background assets for now," Lucien voice came through the headset.
The environment around her changed dramatically.
In the next instant she found herself standing on a beach. To her left stretched a vast, rolling ocean. Not far away, the four-hundred-meter-tall alien cannon tower stood prominently.
How did I end up on one of the islands from Subnautica? Jenny was still puzzled when she noticed a strange device strapped to her left arm. It looked like a sickle with various grooves carved into it.
"Background loaded correctly," Lucien's voice sounded again.
Jenny looked up and saw another person standing about fifty meters away.
The figure was completely black from head to toe, resembling the little black silhouette used for unidentified suspects in Detective Conan. The same sickle-like device was strapped to its arm as well.
"Don't freak out. It's me," the black figure spoke in Lucien's voice.
"Luc?" Jenny grew even more confused. "So what exactly is this game?"
"It's called Yu-Gi-Oh!" Lucien answered. "See these things on our arms? They're Duel Disks. We play cards using them."
"How do we play?"
"I'll teach you step by step. Duel start!"
The moment Lucien said those words, a string of numbers appeared on the liquid-crystal screen of Jenny's Duel Disk: "LP: 8"
"Eight represents your life points. When your life points hit zero, you lose," Lucien explained calmly. "Now we both draw five cards."
Jenny saw a deck of cards slotted into her Duel Disk. She drew five. Five different cards appeared in her hand.
"Cards are divided into three types: Monster Cards, Spell Cards, and Trap Cards," Lucien continued. "Jenny, try playing a Monster Card first. Just place it into the slot on the Duel Disk."
"Okay, got it."
In her vision, small text labels had appeared beside each of the five cards in her hand, clearly indicating their types.
"Then I'll go with this one." Jenny placed a card named "Baby Dragon" onto the Duel Disk.
With a soft hum, the space in front of her rippled. A small yellow dragon materialized right before her eyes.
The little yellow dragon looked exactly like the one depicted on the "Baby Dragon" card.
