Chapter 8 - Another Woman

Harold could feel her pain and held her tightly, rubbing her hair gently.

For a moment, Laura felt comforted in his arms, and she never wanted to let go. "Talk to me, Laura," Harold said with a firm voice.

She sobbed, tears rolling down her cheeks. "Does anyone deserve to be treated this way? I'm so hurt!" She cried out, her voice filled with conviction. Laura strode away hastily to her room, not giving Harold a chance to respond. Harold, deeply concerned, knew that Laura was going through a tough time and was determined to help her out.

As the party came to an end, Harold returned home, but Laura remained locked in her room, alone with her thoughts. Without hesitation, Harold entered Laura's room to confront her. Laura lay in bed, clutching her pillow tightly to her chest. "Laura, we need to talk," Harold said firmly. Laura remained silent, glaring at Harold with bloodshot eyes.

"Listen to me, even if you don't want to speak," Harold continued, undeterred. Laura continued to stare at Harold, her eyes still red from crying.

"Isn't it obvious? Your friend is the reason I'm suffering."

"Then why not leave? Why not just get a divorce?"

"I can't," she whispered, her voice unsteady. "There's a reason I'm still here… a reason you don't understand."

Laura cut the conversation short.

She had to be cautious, especially because of Daniel. Every word she held back burned inside her. She wanted to tell Harold everything, to finally release the truth she'd been choking on… but not yet. The timing wasn't right.

For a fleeting second, she longed to fall into his arms again, to find the comfort she desperately craved. But fear held her back. Fear of consequences. Fear of what would come next.

She was exhausted. Tired of enduring, tired of pretending.

Morning arrived too quickly, dragging with it the same suffocating weight.

The same heavy air.

The same silent pain.

The same lingering heartbreak.

Nothing had changed.

Except her.

Today, she needed space. Space to breathe, to think, to exist without him.

Already dressed, Laura stepped out of the room, her expression calm, almost unreadable. She carried herself differently now, like someone who had quietly buried her past and was ready to walk away from it.

As she descended the stairs, her gaze didn't waver.

And then she saw him.

Her husband.

Her torment.

Daniel sat comfortably in the living room, one leg crossed over the other, as though the world bent effortlessly around him. His eyes snapped to her the moment she appeared.

"Good morning," Laura said flatly, not sparing him a glance.

"Where are you going?"

"Out."

He frowned. "Out? What does that even mean? Have you lost your mind?"

Laura stopped mid-step, then slowly turned to face him. Her eyes sharp, unyielding.

"Watch your tone, Daniel," she said coldly. "I'm done tolerating your disrespect."

And without waiting for a response, she walked straight to the door.

The bitterness and pain of her marriage with Daniel had taken its toll on Laura. She knew that she deserved better than what he was capable of giving her, and she was ready to move on to a brighter future without him.

Daniel rose immediately and walked into his study. She could go to hell for all he cared.

Laura had planned to meet her mom and wanted to step out for a while. Just as she opened the door, Gina walked in as if she had been standing there the whole time. Laura was taken aback to see her and wondered what she was doing in her house.

"Excuse me, but what gives you the right to barge into my home like that? Get out!" Laura shouted.

Gina laughed and replied, "Who do you think you are? You took what belongs to me, and I'm here to get it back!"

Daniel Edward heard shouting and stormed out of his study immediately. "What the heck is going on here?"

Laura asked loudly, "Daniel, what's she doing here?" He was surprised to see Gina with her luggage.

Daniel looked at Gina and asked anxiously, "Gina, how could you come here with your luggage? Are you being serious?"

Gina chuckled and walked up to Daniel. "I'm pregnant with your child, Daniel. Since you couldn't come to me, I came instead," she said loudly.

Daniel was speechless. Gina was his fiancée. Despite Daniel's marriage to Laura, Gina was determined to get back with him and nothing would stand in her way.

She refused to leave Daniel's house, even though he insisted that she should. Gina reminded Daniel of his past actions and how he left her for another woman, yet still came to her for pleasure.

Now that she was pregnant, he showed no concern. Gina was not going to let him get away with it this time.

She took her luggage into the guest room, ignoring Daniel's objections, and made it clear that she was staying put.

Laura left the house and made a firm decision not to visit her mother at her father's house.

Instead, she checked into a hotel to take some time for herself. Laura needed to clear her head and regain her strength.

After spending a few days at the hotel, Laura realized that she had an unfinished mission with Daniel.

She knew that everything happening in her life was real and not just a dream. Despite the challenges she faced, Laura refused to give up on her quest to save her family from Daniel Edward.

Although the thought of living in the same house with a woman who was pregnant with her husband was overwhelming, Laura was determined to face her fears.

She concluded that she was going back to her husband's house with a fearless attitude. After some contemplation, Laura picked up her phone and dialed her mom's number. "Hello, Mom. How are you doing?" she asked, trying to sound calm.

Claudia responded cheerfully, "Hi, darling. It's good to hear your voice."

Taking a deep breath, Laura said, "Mom, I need to tell you something. I'm facing a big challenge right now."

"Another woman showed up at my doorstep claiming to be pregnant with Daniel's child. I don't know what to do, but I'm not giving up without a fight."

"Wait, what!?" Claudia exclaimed. "Are you telling me that Daniel has been cheating on you? That despicable jerk!"

Laura took a deep breath and said firmly, "It's been a tough time for me, and now this." "Calm down, Laura. Don't let it get to you. I need to see you," Claudia said, her tone assertive and reassuring.

"Mom, I will call you later." She replied. As Laura left her room, she collided with a young man. He asked if she was okay, to which she replied with a dim look in her eyes, "I'm fine."

"Are you checking out?" he asked with concern.

Laura responded calmly, "Yes, I've been here for a few days now."

The man introduced himself as Michael, the owner of the hotel, and asked for her name. Laura replied, "I'm Laura. It's nice to meet you, but I need to get going. Thanks."

As she walked away, Michael watched her go down the stairs and get into her car. Laura took a moment to calm her nerves and thought, "I need to deal with this. No matter what it takes, Daniel is going to get what's coming to him!"

Can Laura possibly handle Daniel and Gina under one roof?

Laura arrived home, but to her dismay, she found out that Gina had made significant changes to the house without her consent. Six new maids had been hired, and Gina had taken charge of everything.

As she walked in, the maids greeted her, but she was too shocked to respond. Suddenly, Gina appeared from the stairs with a smirk, "Look who's back!"
