Shawn's POV
I stirred awake to the heat of the sun pressing down on my skin, sharp and unforgiving.
My eyes opened lazily at first, unfocused, but all I could see was a blur of light and shadow that refused to make sense.
The last thing I remembered was being in my apartment. I had chained myself. I had done it carefully because I knew exactly what would happen if I didn't.
But if the sun was hitting me like this now, burning straight onto my skin without anything blocking it, then that meant I wasn't inside that apartment anymore.
That realization snapped something in me.
I sat up immediately, forcing my eyes fully open even though my vision still fought me. My head felt heavy, disoriented, like I had been dragged through something I couldn't remember and then dropped here without warning.
I looked around slowly, trying to ground myself, trying to make sense of anything I was seeing, but nothing made sense.
