Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Secrets Under the Moon

The next morning, Lila couldn't focus on her lectures. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw those silver eyes staring into hers, a smirk lingering on the stranger's lips. Who was he? Why did he make her feel both terrified and… alive?

She tried to shake it off, but fate seemed determined. That evening, as the campus grew quiet, she found herself walking past the same oak tree, heart pounding. Her steps faltered as a familiar shadow moved.

"You're back," he said, voice low and teasing, stepping from the shadows.

Lila's stomach fluttered. "I… I just came to—" She stopped. Something about the air told her she wasn't here by chance.

He studied her with those unnerving eyes. "Lila, you don't know what you're stepping into. But it's too late to turn back now."

A shiver ran down her spine. She wanted answers, yet feared them more. "Who… are you?"

He let out a slow, amused chuckle. "Names are meaningless. But I will tell you this — I've been watching you for weeks. You're… different."

Different. The word echoed in her mind. She had always known she was different in subtle ways, but what did he mean? Before she could respond, the wind whipped through the campus, and she caught a glimpse of silver fur along his arm, just for a second.

Her heart stopped. "What… was that?"

He stepped closer, his aura dangerous yet captivating. "Something you can't ignore. Something that binds us together, whether you understand it or not."

Lila's pulse raced. The library, the campus, her safe little world — everything suddenly seemed fragile, uncertain.

"I… don't understand," she whispered.

"You will," he said softly, but with a hint of warning. "When the moon is full, secrets are revealed. And your life… will never be the same."

Her breath caught. She wanted to step back, but her curiosity overpowered her fear. "Why me?"

His gaze softened for a fleeting moment, almost human, almost tender. "Because you're the only one I've ever seen who could… survive me."

The wind rustled, carrying an unspoken warning, and Lila realized she had just crossed into a world she couldn't escape. Love, danger, and desire had collided in her life and there was no turning back.

As he disappeared into the shadows, leaving only the faint scent of pine and something wild behind, Lila's heart ached with a mixture of fear and longing. She knew she would see him again — she had to.

And when she did, nothing would ever be the same.
