"Not good, not good, not good, not good, not go--"
Whack!
"Would you shut up already and fight?
"Let me have my moment! Can't you see what we are up against?!"
Brax and Lax bickered as they frantically dodged an air slash launched at them by a Golbat.
"Floatzel! Aqua Jet!" Brax shouted.
"Electabuzz, thunderbolt!" Lax followed up.
Floatzel surrounded itself with a high-pressure torrent of water and launched towards the Golbat like a jet.
The Electabuzz beside him used Thunderbolt -- not at the Golbat, but instead to wrap around and power up Floatzel's Aqua Jet.
Golbat was knocked down the moment Floatzel made contact. But before it could celebrate, it was hit by a bolt of lightning from an opposing Jolteon.
"Floatzel! Dammit!"
Floatzel, who was already weakened, couldn't withstand the attack and was knocked down.
This was the second Pokémon that was defeated on the officer's side. They now had only six Pokémon left, facing off against an army of 16 out-of-control Pokémon. There were 20 before, but they had taken down 4 of them.
Watching from a distance, the two Rocket grunts smirked. They didn't want to be attacked by the rampaging Pokémon as well, so they stayed at a distance.
"Is your Kadabra still unable to teleport?"
"No. The space around us is still locked. They have a stronger psychic-type Pokémon than my Kadabra on their side."
"Tch- That's not good at all. These officers are tougher than anticipated. When the others join their side--"
"I know. We'll make a break for it when they all gather here. These Pokémon should hold them off for a while."
The grunt said as he pointed at the 5 Pokémon still locked inside their cages. Each of them was at the Advanced Level.
The cages had the letter 'A' inscribed on them that glowed in a purple colour.
This letter strengthened them, allowing the cages not to break despite the immense strength of these Pokémon.
This was the signature of the infamous Cage Master. Not much was known about him. Who he was, where he lives, how he looks... everything was a mystery.
The only known thing about him was that he made special cages that could lock up Pokémon up to the advanced level, regardless of their type or species.
The cage master offered their skills to anyone willing to pay the price they had set, which wasn't small.
"Brax, we have two options. Either we stall as long as we can and wait for the others to get here, or we go full stupid and go on the offensive, taking as many of them as we can. And as much as I hate it, I think the second option is better."
Lax had been paying attention to the two grunts. After assessing the situation, he more or less figured out their plan.
In this situation, if they wanted to catch them, taking out as many Pokémon before the others got here was the best play.
"Bahaha! For you to suggest going on the offensive... looks like things are really dire. Alright then, let's do it! Electabuzz, Growlithe, Rhyhorn. Take positions."
"You lot as well." Lax said as he looked at his 3 remaining Pokémon. A Growlithe, Luxray, and Pidgeot.
Lax's cowardly persona was gone, replaced by a resolve even stronger than Brax! This wasn't unusual for him. Despite how he acted, he was very brave under pressure.
The six Pokémon roared as they abandoned all caution and went full offensive.
The 2 Growlithe used Flame Wheel, spinning rapidly and advancing towards the army.
Luxray joined them, surrounding itself with huge amounts of electric energy as it shot forward. It had used the move Wild Charge.
The opposing Pokémon counterattacked with their moves, but they had no control as they mindlessly attacked. This was the disadvantage of being in the berserk state.
Electabuzz used Thunderbolt to amplify the electric energy around Luxray, making it even more powerful.
Luxray was the first to reach its target as it tore through an Arbok's upper body, taking off a chunk of its flesh. It didn't stop and struck a Tangela as well.
The 2 Growlithe moved with perfect coordination. They simultaneously hit a Victreebell, knocking it out.
The two Growlithe and Luxray then jumped into the air, as if pre-planned.
The moment they did, a powerful shockwave full of ground-type energy struck all the Pokémon that were still on the ground, knocking them back. Rhyhorn had used Earthquake!
Then, Pidgeot bombarded them from the air with Air Slash.
"What the--"
One of the grunts shouted in shock.
"Calm down. It is just a desperate struggle. Look--"
The other grunt pointed at a Scyther that broke through the bombardment and struck Luxray, knocking him onto the ground. It then dodged the thunderbolt launched by Electabuzz.
The amplified Wild Charge took its toll on Luxray. The recoil was immense. It could barely stand after taking Scyther's attack.
"Not good, Luxray!" Lax took out Luxray's Poké Ball to recall him, but was a second too late as it was launched into the air by an Earth Power used by a furious Nidoking.
The Pokémon on the ground had already recovered from the Earthquake and were now charging towards them!
In the air, Pidgeot fought 2-on-1 against a Golbat and Fearow. The two Growlithe used Flamethrower to strike the Scyther, but it dodged and struck one of them with a wing attack.
Both Growlithe were recalled before Scyther could strike the other one.
All of this happened in a matter of moments.
Electabuzz managed to strike down the Scyther with a thunderbolt, knocking it out.
But the situation was dire. With Pidgeot occupied in a disadvantaged fight, only Electabuzz and Rhyhorn stood between the two officers and the advancing army.
"Rhyhorn, Earthquake!"
"Electabuzz, Thunder!"
The two gave their orders.
Brax then grabbed Lax and hopped on top of Rhyhorn.
"Let's gain some distance!"
In the air, Pidgeot had severely wounded the 2 Pokémon it was fighting, but couldn't go on and was knocked out. Lax then recalled him.
"Looks like this is it. We are at our limits."
Lax looked at the 12 remaining Pokémon. All of them were injured, some close to being defeated. But they were just as aggressive as when they started.
Rhyhorn couldn't reach far before Electabuzz was knocked out as well.
A scorching streak of fire was released from a Nidoking's mouth, but Rhyhorn blocked it with Protect.
What it couldn't block, however, was the large chunk of rock launched at it with the speed of a bullet.
Brax put his body around Lax to shield him and then braced for the impact.
"Brax--"
