A terrifying howl exploded from his throat, and the surrounding forest shook violently.
Crack!
The sound of bones shifting echoed through the clearing.
Xue Yao looked up through her tears. The small wolf's body was expanding rapidly.
Muscles bulged beneath his silver-white fur. His claws dug deep trenches into the earth. Within moments he towered above them like a mountain.
The pressure alone made it difficult to breathe. Honghong looked up and immediately fainted.
"Uh oh… I must have overdone it." Xue Yao whispered.
The giant wolf threw his head back and let out a deafening howl that echoed across the heavens.
A second later, another howl answered. Then another. And another. The sounds came from every direction.
Xue Yao's heart sank as branches snapped throughout the forest.
Slowly, dozens of massive figures emerged from the darkness between the trees. Glowing eyes appeared one after another.
They were surrounded… with no way out.
The giant wolf lowered his head, his golden eyes burning with fury. "Capture them."
He was going to pay them back exactly how he was treated.
The wolves moved instantly.
Before Xue Yao could even think about running, several shadows pounced from all directions.
And just like that, her glorious beast-taming journey came to a tragic end.
Or so she thought.
....
Bai Xue Yao's body jolted with the bumpy ride, her brows pulled into a frown as every passing minute became unbearable. Not to mention the direct sunlight that was flashing into her face like a torchlight.
She let out a dissatisfied sigh, as she peeled her eyes open. The trees beside her moved, even the sky refused to stand still.
Her eyes fluttered closed again, and the memories from the previous night replayed in her head.
"That ungrateful wolf." She muttered under her breath.
She had long heard of how wolves were perceived as loyal but she had experienced firsthand that they are a great pain in the ass. Grumpy and very unreasonable.
She frowned again. 'How am I still alive? Didn't the wolves pounce on me last night, or could this be an afterlife?' She thought inwardly as her finger gently caressed the warm soft hairy blanket beneath her.
'Or could it be that I am transmigrating back home?' A small smile formed on her lips.
[If you are already awake, you should start planning how to escape and not waste your time daydreaming.] Tian Lan's annoying voice echoed through her mind, breaking whatever hopes she had.
She quickly snapped her eyes open, only to land on Tian Lan who was floating a few inches away from her face.
"I'm still here?" Xue Yao cried inwardly.
"Where is Honghong?" She asked as she pulled herself to sit upright.
Before Tian could answer her, her eyes opened wide like a saucepan, as she saw dozens of wolves walking in front of her. And not just that, her annoying bird was being dragged along the ground… unconscious.
Her heart split into two. She couldn't help but blame herself for the misfortune that fell upon them. If she had left the white wolf and not been overcome by her greed for power, they wouldn't have been in this predicament.
She turned to Tian Lan. "What should I do now to save myself and Honghong?"
[Hmmm, grow stronger and defeat the wolf clan.] Tina said nonchalantly.
Xue Yao glared at her, almost as if she wanted to strangle her at that very moment. "That is not very helpful."
Tian Lan floated to her other side with a mischievous grin. [Or capture the Alpha's heart, and bear pups for him.]
Xue Yao immediately swung at her, but she immediately disappeared into thin air. Xue Yao missed her balance and the next second, she was already kissing the ground.
She let out an annoyed grunt, as she lay flat on the ground.
Hearing the commotion, the wolves immediately stopped in their tracks, their eyes turning towards her.
Xue Yao let out a nervous laugh as she glanced at those murderous gazes. "Hi, nice to meet you too."
"Tie her up." A deep cold voice echoed from behind her.
It sounded familiar and not just that, it made the hair at the back of her neck stand on end.
She slowly turned around only to meet those golden eyes, furious and sharp.
"You don't have to tie me up." She said, though she was inwardly wondering how animals with teeth and legs were supposed to tie her up. She almost burst out in laughter at the mere thought of it.
"Now." The white wolf growled from his chest.
Immediately, one of the wolves transformed into a form that resembled that of the humans, except his brown tail hung from his behind and his pointy wolf ear on his head.
But apart from that, his looks were very attractive. Sharp thick brows, brown eyes, well-chiselled jaws, and thin lips. His body was a pure chiselled work of art. His body was bare except for the clothes around his waist. His short brown hair fell over his shoulders with some strands falling over his face.
Xue Yao didn't realize when she stretched forth her hands to him to tie, while mesmerised.
An angry growl echoed from the white wolf again which made Xue Yao roll her eyes before snapping at him. "What?!"
"Keep your eyes to yourself, else I'll gouge them out myself." He growled before turning to the wolf that was tying her up.
"And you, be fast and transform back to your form."
If Xue Yao didn't know better, she would have mistaken his behaviour for jealousy. But she knew it was from being assaulted by the Sticky Smelly Socks, laughing inwardly. "Grumpy old man." She muttered under her breath.
"Say that again, and I will rip your tongue out." He warned.
Xue Yao inhaled sharply, trying to calm her nerves. She was aware that her only chance of escaping was now. If she entered the enemy's house, she would have no way out.
But she couldn't leave Honghong alone. She closed her eyes as she felt the subtle headache in her head.
She glanced to her sides, and as if the wolves were aware of what she was thinking, they moved to the edges, surrounding her from all sides.
The rope tied around her hands yanked her forward, she almost stumbled to the ground. She cussed under her breath as she shot daggers at the red wolf that was holding the rope in its jaws.
