GA: Chapter 68 – Without a Mind and Mentality That Matches Your Power, You Cannot Be Called Truly Strong

The Uchiha, Senju, and Uzumaki clans were all descendants of the Sage of Six Paths—not exactly pureblooded humans of the earth either.

But that said, apart from Uchiha Madara and Hashirama Senju, the only ones who could genuinely measure up were Naruto and Sasuke. Everyone else was questionable at best.

Be My Son: "Does anyone in the group want the Dark-Dark Fruit?"

Be My Son: "After everything that happened, Thatch and the others have no interest in it. They've left it to me to handle."

The Dark-Dark Fruit was certainly powerful—but because of what Blackbeard had done, Thatch had handed it to Whitebeard. No matter what, he wouldn't eat this fruit himself.

Perhaps in his heart, he felt that if this fruit had never appeared, Blackbeard would still have been family.

Some things weren't so easy to let go of.

Ordinary Group Owner: "I'll pass."

Worst Elf: "Give it to someone who actually needs it."

Turn Daigu into Soup: "The Dark-Dark Fruit doesn't suit me."

Uchiha Dance King: "Keep it for yourself."

Child of Nature: "Just recycle it."

Lighthouse Tycoon: "We didn't do anything. It wouldn't sit right to take it."

Just Like That Meow: "Same here, meow."

Umaru: "I really want it—but getting something this precious without any kind of exchange just feels wrong."

Golden Flash: "Agreed."

Some things they could accept—and carry the gratitude in their hearts. But something as precious as the Dark-Dark Fruit wasn't something to casually take.

Be My Son: "…"

Be My Son: "There's no need to be like this. Perhaps in your eyes the Dark-Dark Fruit is precious—but for Whitebeard's crew, there's no one who could eat it in peace."

Be My Son: "Recycling it would only yield a few points, and I already have more than enough."

Child of Nature: "In that case, perhaps hold on to it for now. If anyone wants it in the future, they can negotiate with Old Dad directly."

Child of Nature: "Small things we can accept without guilt—but the Dark-Dark Fruit is not an ordinary thing."

Ordinary Group Owner: "Exactly."

Ordinary Group Owner: "Old Dad should keep it for future trading."

Seeing their messages, Whitebeard let out a small laugh. The low mood Blackbeard's betrayal had left in his chest eased somewhat.

Since there were no takers for the Dark-Dark Fruit, Whitebeard simply sent out a few point red envelopes to the group instead.

That stirred up considerably more excitement than the Devil Fruit had.

Once Whitebeard's situation was resolved, Bai Xuan largely returned to his routine.

The state's god-making initiative had been reasonably successful. The power Huoyou, Qin Tian, and the others had displayed was genuinely formidable, and it came as a surprise to many that the state had cultivated talents of this caliber.

Bai Xuan had also drawn considerable attention—but compared to the other three, his impact wasn't as dramatic. In terms of spectacle, what he'd produced simply didn't hit as visually as their displays.

He didn't care. He barely even knew about it until Huoyou brought it up.

After that, the state ran a series of programs—fierce beast culls, training exercises, and so forth—but none of them had anything to do with him.

The last time had been a momentary impulse. It wasn't as if he had nothing to do.

Outside of his daily mandatory training, he also picked up something he hadn't done in a long time—reading.

It seemed that ever since the spiritual qi revival and his awakening, he hadn't touched a book. The last thing he'd read had been the Star-Absorbing Technique.

Of course, he wasn't reading mathematics or physics. He was drawn to books on civilization and nature.

And he found himself genuinely enriched by it, struck by things he hadn't considered before.

Many books argued that the universe was cold and merciless—that between civilizations, peaceful coexistence was not the default. The vast majority of intelligent civilizations, upon encountering each other, would not think first of cooperation or peace.

But other books held that civilizational development should be stable, peaceful—that progress and refinement ought to come slowly, in quiet conditions, through the passage of time. Perhaps war was a significant catalyst for civilizational advancement, but it was not a necessary one.

Perhaps, even, it had no place in the development of civilization at all.

Whether either view was right or wrong, Bai Xuan didn't feel it was his place to judge. He simply absorbed them, and thought.

He read many books over those days. He didn't sense any particular change in himself—only a vague feeling that something somewhere was different.

Though perhaps that was just his imagination.

As time passed, his power was growing at an increasingly rapid pace. But his mentality remained rooted in where it had been when he was an ordinary person.

That wasn't a healthy sign.

The evolution of a living being shouldn't be limited to strength and constitution alone—the mind needed to grow too.

Without a mentality and way of thinking that matched your power, you couldn't truly be called strong.

For the following month or more, Bai Xuan moved between training, reading, and the chat group.

He paid little attention to the outside world.

He didn't notice it happening—but his thinking was, in fact, growing through that period of quiet accumulation, shifting in subtle ways that compounded without his awareness.

Knowledge was a strange thing. So was time.

The mentality that emerged from that sedimentation gave him a new perspective on nature and civilization alike.

[Natural Authority] was also growing rapidly in that stretch of time—Bai Xuan could feel clearly how much deeper his grasp over nature was becoming.

"Pika? Pika?"

"Pikachu!"

"Pika pika—"

An unexpected sound pulled his attention away. Two Pikachus had appeared on his desk at some point, gazing at him with wide, curious eyes.

"Go play for a bit. I'll come find you once I'm done reading."

Bai Xuan laughed softly and gave both Pikachus a pat on the head. They squinted happily under his hand, then hopped off the desk and scampered out to the open ground of the villa.

He had bought these two from Just Like That Meow.

A Gardevoir egg was relatively rare and would take some time to arrange—but Pikachus were no problem.

For Just Like That Meow and the others, what was truly precious wasn't just any Pikachu—it was Ash's Pikachu specifically.

Everything else? Even Legendaries barely warranted a second glance from them.

A Gardevoir was certainly adorable—but the Pokémon that had first made his heart stir was always Pikachu, wasn't it?

That kind of pure, uncomplicated goodness—who could resist it?

Being around them lifted his mood without him even trying.

And it was because of the Pikachus that he'd remembered—[Natural Authority] should be able to grant him the ability to hear and communicate with all living things. As it turned out, it could. The moment the thought occurred to him, the ability was simply there.

The Pikachus included.

He hadn't expected these two to have a fondness for ketchup. So he'd had someone order tomato seeds and some good-quality ketchup, along with seeds for various other fruits—no concern about whether they'd grow, not with him around.

After planting, Bai Xuan accelerated their growth directly, bypassing even the need for pollination, straight to fruit-bearing.

And perhaps because of Bai Xuan's spiritual qi, the quality was extraordinary beyond imagining.

The Pikachus, at least, were very pleased with the results.
