GA: Chapter 134: The Collision of Darkness and Fire — The Massive Creature of the Ocean!
"ROARRR!"
With a thunderous roar, they finally got a clear look at the mutated sea creature lurking in those depths.
A colossal octopus — its body stretching hundreds of meters tall.
The giant octopus fixed its golden pupils on the three of them, its eyes blazing with excitement.
That presence.
This was the presence it had sensed back then.
"ROARRR!"
Its tentacles spiraled into a massive ring, and black energy gathered at the center before launching toward the three of them in a single devastating beam — carrying overwhelming force, as if intent on erasing everything in its path.
"Hmph!"
"ROARRR!"
Qin Tian let out a cold snort. A dragon cry rang out — and an enormous crimson dragon materialized from behind him, surging forward to meet the black beam head-on.
BOOM.
A catastrophic explosion. The ocean at the epicenter was blown apart, waves churning and crashing in every direction. Qin Tian's attack had punched through the black beam — diminished, but still carrying palpable, terrifying energy.
"ROARRR~"
The mutated giant octopus looked at what was coming toward it the way a predator eyes prey it has already decided to eat. It opened its enormous maw and swallowed the crimson dragon formed of compressed flame whole. Golden pupils gleamed with unmistakable satisfaction.
"What?!"
Qin Tian's eyes snapped to attention, disbelief crossing his face.
Mutated creatures awakening a devouring ability wasn't unheard of. But one capable of swallowing his fire — that was something he had never encountered before.
And judging by the creature's reaction, even if his attack hadn't been partially countered by the black beam first, the thing would have simply swallowed it anyway.
"Let's see how many of these you can take."
Qin Tian launched himself upward. Endless flames wove together beneath him, and in the midst of the blaze, something like flame runes flickered into brief existence.
He raised his right hand. His fist began to close.
BOOM.
Massive quantities of crimson fire converged in his palm, compressing and compressing until it took shape — a fire spear several meters in length, blazing with focused intensity.
Looking closely, one could see a crimson dragon coiling around the body of the spear, breathing fire as it wound.
Not just Huo Yu and Chen Bing — even the soldiers and Bureau members reinforcing the walls and searching for survivors in the city turned their eyes to the man silhouetted against the sky in a corona of flame.
"If you can manage it — show me."
"Devour this."
His voice was cold as iron. In an instant, a streak of fire tore the sky apart and screamed toward the mutated giant octopus.
"ROARRR!"
The mutated giant octopus swung its tentacles, dark light gathering into a massive barrier — clearly intent on blocking Qin Tian's attack. Without question, it had sensed the danger in this one.
Crack.
Barely two seconds. A fracture appeared in the black barrier — and then the crimson spear drove straight through it.
"ROARRR — ROARRR — ROARRR—"
A howl of agony. The mutated giant octopus twisted and writhed, its enormous tentacles hammering the surface of the ocean in a frenzy, massive waves erupting and crashing.
But that was only the beginning.
The fire spear — compressed to its absolute limit — suddenly exploded outward. The savage, scorching flames poured from it without restraint and swallowed the mutated giant octopus whole.
"Is this... over?"
A soldier working on the walls asked with uncertain hesitation.
The true culprit behind Haicheng's destruction — the mutated sea creature that had left so many people terrified — had just died that easily?
Not that it was easy exactly. It just looked easy, somehow. He didn't know how to put it. But was it actually dead?
"Should be. This is the Dragon Emperor we're talking about."
The soldier beside him answered with equal uncertainty.
It did seem like it had been resolved a little too cleanly. That thing had been hundreds of meters tall — practically a monster out of legend.
Dead just like that. It felt unbelievable.
But this was the Dragon Emperor — the strongest in Huaxia except for the White Emperor himself. Defeating it wasn't something you could call impossible.
Big size didn't necessarily mean strong. Maybe it was all just for show.
"No — look at the Dragon Emperor. It's not over yet."
The sudden voice made them instinctively look toward Qin Tian — and sure enough, he was still staring intently at the mutated giant octopus, expression grave. He could feel the creature's life force still present.
In fact, his last attack had barely damaged it at all.
"ROARRR!!!"
An enraged roar erupted from within the flames. Then, to everyone's disbelief, tendrils of black mist began to seep outward from the fire's center, spreading in every direction.
The raging, scorching flames resisted for a brief moment — and then the darkness covered them. Consumed them. Gradually, the fire was swallowed entirely, the darkness enveloping the entire area.
"The Dark-Dark Fruit?"
Huo Yu watched the scene with uncertain eyes.
Was this giant mutated octopus the one that had eaten the Dark-Dark Fruit?
But Devil Fruits — aside from her own Flare-Flare Fruit — should all make their users fear seawater. Even if they could still technically swim, they'd lose the vast majority of their combat capability in ocean water. This thing showed absolutely no sign of that.
Unless sea creatures that ate Devil Fruits didn't fear the ocean?
Or had she simply guessed wrong — maybe it had just awakened a darkness-based ability naturally, with no Devil Fruit involved at all.
"Either way."
Huo Yu shook her head, her expression settling into something serious.
Whatever it had or hadn't eaten, whatever ability this was — what she needed to do right now was help Qin Tian kill it.
Click. Click. Click.
Sudden sound. It drew the attention of the mutated giant octopus, of Qin Tian, and of Huo Yu all at once. They turned toward the source.
Rising to the ocean's surface was a massive creature in black and white — a size that rivaled the mutated giant octopus — and it let out a thunderous roar in their direction.
"Is that... a killer whale?"
Black and white coloring. The distinctive white patches that looked almost like eyes. Enormous in scale, and yet somehow it managed to look almost... cute.
But—
"Killer whales are not cute creatures."
Huo Yu's voice carried a new gravity.
Before the spiritual revival, killer whales had been the undisputed apex predators of the ocean.
Intelligence, bite force, stamina — all extraordinary. A lone killer whale had virtually no natural enemies in the sea, and they typically hunted in coordinated groups on top of that.
Besides humans, nothing preyed on them.
Even blue whales only had the advantage of size — and hunting one would require a pod of at least thirty killer whales working together, while the typical pod was around ten. Even so, a fully grown blue whale would retreat rather than confront a coordinated pod.
A typical killer whale measured seven to nine meters. The largest ever recorded had stretched nearly ten — and who knew if there were bigger ones undiscovered.
But this one—
Huo Yu stared up at the hundreds-of-meters-long colossus, a scale that matched the mutated giant octopus without any sense of inferiority, and felt her eye twitch involuntarily.
Every mutated creature seemed to get bigger. The stronger ones apparently got more massive on top of that.
Yet somehow humans didn't get this treatment.
Were they special cases or something?
