After dealing with the remainder of the contract, aka just telling them I was done, I went back home.
"MOMMY! HELP!!!"
When I heard Jackie screaming for help, I quickly made my way towards the cries. They were coming from Aina's room.
"NOOOOO!!!"
"Jackie, please, just one more dress?"
"NOOOOO!!!"
Ah, she's trying to dress up Jackie. Well, I should help. I opened the door.
"MOMMYYY!!!"
Jack slammed into me as soon as the door opened. I looked down at the little murder middle that slammed into me. She was wearing a predominantly black-and-white gothic dress with purple bows and shoes. She also had a top hat with a purple ribbon and a black and gold bow on it. It was adorable.
"Jackie? What's wrong?"
"Mommy, this lady gave Jackie nice clothes, but then wants Jackie to take them off and wear different clothes. But Jackie likes these clothes."
So the problem wasn't that Aina was dressing her up. But she thought Aina would take the clothes back. Also, I would have to ask where and why she got so many children's clothes without me knowing.
"Jackie, she's not going to take the clothes she gave you; in fact, she's going to give you more clothes. Your… Aunt Aina just wants to spoil you."
She looked confused for a moment. Well, expecting a creature born of negative emotions to understand goodwill and generosity might be difficult. Then she smiled brightly. Who decided this murder muffin should be so cute!?
"Jackie, you look very cute in your new outfit. Have you been introduced to everyone here yet?"
She shook her head.
"No, not yet, mommy. Aunty Kuroka and Big sis Seras weren't here, and Aunty Yasaka is too busy, according to Granny. Big Sis Yomihana is nice, she said she'd teach Jackie how to stab things better."
I looked at the clock and realized that Rias and her peerage should be out at their club.
"Alright then. Jackie, we're going to go meet my cousin Rias, your Aunt Kuroka, and Big sis Seras should be there too. I'll meet you in the living room."
Kuroka was visiting her sister, and they had reconciled quite a bit since they reunited. But Seras had been visiting the ORC to get more perspective on devil society. I can tell she's referring to those I have had relations with Aunty.
"Yay~!"
She ran off.
"So... Mommy?"
Aina looked at me with a smug grin. I gave her a deadpan look in response.
"I can do nothing about this. Are you aware of who and what she is?"
"No? Should I? Big Sis just said she's your newest pawn."
"Of course, she wouldn't explain why I thought she would. I don't know."
I will also need to talk to Rias about getting her into some sort of school, but that's after we are sure she won't stab someone for an arbitrary reason. From what I've seen, Jackie isn't stupid for the age she appears; she just has no common sense at all.
"Jackie is or was a wraith. A very famous wraith."
Aina understood immediately what I was implying.
"REALLY!?"
"Yep."
"Jack the Ripper, the Infamous serial killer who turned out to be a wraith, is a cute child!?"
"Yep."
"...You know you're going to have to explain this to Seras, right?"
"Why would I... ohhhh, I forgot she's British."
"Howww!? She has an obviously British accent!"
"She's kinda quiet around me, and I let her do her own thing for the most part."
*sigh*
"Fine, it's not my problem."
I felt bad. I wrapped my arms around her in a hug and kissed her.
"Sorry."
"It's fine, just go. Oh, and remember your soon-to-be brother-in-law's birthday is in 2 weeks. You're going to want to explain Jackie to Roygun."
"I know she'll be fine with it. But I should let her know. Anyway, I shouldn't keep Jackie waiting. I also plan to get her some therapy. Reincarnating her as a devil fixed some of her issues, but therapy would probably be a good idea."
"That's true anyway, go give Rias and Sona panic attacks."
"See you later. I love you."
I walked out of Aina's room and to the living room. There I saw Jackie watching Runeas, who was drawing something. I noticed out of the corner of my eye that she was designing a magical girl outfit. Yep, ignoring that now.
"You ready to go, Jackie?"
"Yes, Mommy."
She ran over to me and grabbed my hand. I then used the spell for teleportation, with the coordinates being the ORC. I was greeted by the sight of her explaining Devil society to two girls. One was the nun Asia from the canon, I guess Rias finally convinced her, and the other was that extremely horny, weird girl. I saw Seras getting served tea by Akeno, Kuroka playing with her sister off to the side, and Kiba was being... Kiba, I guess.
"So that's what- Oh! Nea, what brings you here? And who is this?"
Everyone turned to look at me and, in turn, Jackie as I was holding her hand. Most looked confused at Jackie. With the sole exception being Aika, who looked like she was thinking something that I'd punch her out of disgust for.
"I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"
"Not much, I was just explaining to my new bishop, Asia, and my new Pawn, Aika, about Devil society."
"I see. Anyway, this is my new pawn, Jackie. And for the record, she decided to call me that by herself. Introduce yourself, Jackie."
That got Kuroka's and Seras's attention.
"Hi, We are Jackie. We are happy to meet friends and family of Mommy."
Everyone immediately turned to look at me. Aika seemed lost in some depraved fantasy.
"Alright, before people say anything, I will give context. Also, Seras, don't freak out."
"O-okay?"
"So as she said, this is Jackie, you probably know her better as Jack the Ripper."
Immediately, everyone reacted, even Aika. Seras, Asia, and Aika looked scared. Kuroka took up a defensive stance in front of her sister. And everyone else is either defensive or just confused.
"NAE WHAT-!?"
"Calm down, Rias. I will explain, but you might want to call Sitri, as I don't want to repeat myself should she ask."
"Fine..."
After a few minutes of waiting. Sitri and her peerage showed up; she was noticeably upset. Kuroka and Koneko had stopped being defensive and were now over in the corner playing with Jackie.
"Why is a notorious Serial Killer who should be dead alive and a child?"
"I'm not surprised you don't know. I had to hack both the supernatural branch of Scotland Yard and the church to get the info. Jack the Ripper wasn't human; he, or rather she, was a wraith. She has a particularly nasty power that allows her to erase her presence from both your vision and your memory. That is why, although the exorcist squad sent to deal with her couldn't remember any details of her after the encounter. Eventually, they supposedly killed her, but being a High-class undead and a wraith, she would be incredibly difficult to put down for good. Since this was a Group of low-class and mid-class exorcists, they would have no way to keep her down."
"Okay, that explains why she's around still. But why is she here and in your peerage?"
"Well, Big sis Kalana said I needed to do something different as a change of scenery thing and gave me a contract to do."
"Isn't that overkill for someone at ultimate class like yourself?"
"Yes, now stop interrupting, Sitri."
She frowned, but I ignored her and continued.
"Continuing, the contract was to help Scotland Yard with a string of murders matching the Ripper cases. The files are heavily secure, so even if they didn't know Jack was a wraith, which is why I don't blame you. Anyway, after confirming it was the Ripper. I set up some detection wards. After meeting Jackie, whom I admittedly couldn't prevent from claiming another life before I got there, I was able to figure out her motives."
"And those are?"
Rias was very curious about this.
"You both know Wraiths are born from negative emotions of the deceased; Jackie is no different. However, the specific emotions influence actions and behavior. In Jackie's case, she was born from the resentment, fear, and hatred of the abused, neglected, and abandoned children of prostitutes around the time of the first killings. So her basic instincts are to find family or "Mommy" and "Kill those who made us suffer," realizing that I basically adopted her. Took 4 pawns, same as your pawn who has the Vritra gear, Sitri."
Everyone, minus Kuroka and Shirone, visibly relaxed about Jackie.
"Oh, don't get me wrong, she is still potentially dangerous. She's High-class and retained her wraith abilities. Plus, I'm pretty sure she'd kill someone no questions asked if I told her to for something as simple as a head pat. There's also a good chance she'd snap if someone insulted me. I plan to schedule therapy for her and try to teach her some common sense. Which reminds me, Rias, could you enter her in the junior high division of Kuoh next semester, should she be more stable by then?"
People looked more worried but less so than previously.
"I could, but why? Wouldn't you want her in a school in the netherworld?"
"Yes, and I plan to eventually, but Jackie lacks common sense, and covering up a human being stabbed is easier than a devil heir getting stabbed. The power of blackmail only works if someone has something to lose."
"...I'll see what I can do."
"Thank you, Rias. I will owe you a favor in the future."
AN: I plan to change the name of Nae's mom at some point because it really isn't Devil like at all. I was having trouble with names and just put something down, so I will let people know when it's changed, and for those who saw it originally, no, you aren't crazy.
