Synopsis
Before the world learned the names of its monsters, it learned the shape of its silence. Engan has spent his life trying to outrun a feeling he can’t explain—an emptiness that grows heavier with every passing day. Shadows move where they shouldn’t. Time stutters in the corner of his vision. And sometimes, when the world goes quiet enough, he swears he can hear something calling his name. When a violent incident shatters the fragile normalcy he’s clung to, Engan is forced into a conflict far older than humanity itself. Ancient forces stir beneath the surface of reality, bound to cycles that have repeated since the first fracture of creation. Some want balance. Some want ruin. All of them want him. As Engan struggles to understand the power awakening inside him—and the terrifying purpose tied to it—he discovers that the world is not moving forward at all. It’s looping. And every loop ends the same way. To break the cycle, Engan must confront the truth buried in his past, the shadows that walk beside him, and the choice that has doomed countless worlds before his own. But the closer he gets to the truth, the more he realizes: Some destinies aren’t meant to be escaped. They’re meant to be repeated.

Chapter 1 - Three Shadows

Before the first breath was taken,

there was a stillness

that feared no ending,

for it knew no beginning.

Then a tremor—

a thought

in a mind

that did not think

From that fracture came two shadows,

each carrying half a purpose,

each certain the other

was a universal flaw.

Their struggle taught the void to shatter.

Taught time to move.

Taught the dark to hunger,

and the light to endure.

And from the trembles

rose a third shadow,

born not to rule,

but to balance.

It carried endings through its pulse,

carried continuance through its breath,

but most impossibly—

carried choice in its trembling arms.

So they were taught cycles;

Joining, breaking

Rising, falling

returning…

and returning,

and returning

forever,

as all broken things do.

Fragments of that first silence,

drift in the soils,

the waters,

and the winds,

waiting…

for hands

that do not know

what they bear.

And the shadows—

they watch,

bound by the weight

of those who walk among them,

the ones

who carry the seal,

never to know

their true purpose.

Author's Note:

Thank you for being here for the beginning of Fracture: Eternal Severance.

I wanted to open with this piece because it traces the "Three Shadows" that define the architecture of this world. You will soon see two of them collide—ancient, opposing certainties that each view the other as a flaw to be erased.

But there is a third shadow mentioned here.

It is the one born not to rule, but to balance. It doesn't possess the raw, unwavering power of the others; instead, it carries the "impossible burden of choice" in its trembling arms. While the first two provide the scale of the conflict, the third is the heartbeat that decides if the cycle continues or finally shatters.

Be careful when watching the path ahead. In this world, even a happy ending can be a mirror—and sometimes, when you think you are finally walking toward the light, you are simply following the stars back to where it all began.

The first chapter will drop in 24 hours. Let's see how the void shatters.
