Synopsis
Kael drifts through life unnoticed, weighed down by emptiness and the quiet despair of being ordinary. His only escape lies in novels—worlds where people struggle, grow, and make choices that matter. But when a mysterious prompt pulls him into the pages of a fantasy academy story, Kael finds himself not as a hero, but as an extra—weak, overlooked, and powerless. Yet survival isn’t always about strength. With keen observation, calculated strategy, and the secrets of the forgotten Lith family, Kael begins to navigate a world where every choice carries risk, every interaction hides danger, and every moment can tip the balance between life and death. In a story ruled by magic, power, and ambition, Kael must rely on what he has always known best—his mind. Observing, analyzing, and adapting, he uncovers a hidden truth: sometimes the most powerful role is not the one in the spotlight, but the one who sees everything others miss.

Chapter 1 - A Life Borrowed From Stories

Kael didn't hate his life.

That would have required something he no longer had the energy for.

Instead, he moved through it—quietly, predictably, like a routine that had long since lost its purpose.

Morning came.

He opened his eyes.

The same ceiling greeted him. Slight cracks in the corner. Faint discoloration near the edges.

He had memorized those details without meaning to.

"…Still the same."

His voice was dry.

Unused.

His phone buzzed beside him.

Messages. Notifications. Calls he hadn't answered.

He ignored all of it.

Instead—

He opened a novel.

The glow of the screen filled the room as words began to scroll.

A familiar world unfolded.

Magic. Nobles. Monsters.

An academy where talent decided everything.

Kael read without expression.

But he didn't skim.

He never skimmed.

"…You're lucky."

The words slipped out, quiet and unsteady.

Not directed at anyone in particular.

Just… the story itself.

Even the weakest characters in these worlds had direction.

They struggled.

Failed.

Changed.

Kael did none of those things.

He understood people.

Patterns.

Outcomes.

That was why nothing surprised him anymore.

"…Predictable."

He scrolled.

Already aware of how the chapter would end.

The arrogant noble would fall.

The protagonist would rise.

Someone would grow.

"…At least you get to change."

Time passed unnoticed.

The room darkened.

The outside world faded.

Only the story remained.

"…If I were there…"

The thought came—uninvited.

He paused.

"…No."

A quiet exhale.

"That wouldn't change anything."

Because even in that world—

He wouldn't be special.

Just another extra.

His thumb moved to scroll.

The next chapter didn't load.

"…?"

He tapped again.

The text distorted.

Letters twisted.

Sentences collapsed into each other.

"…Great."

Then—

The screen stilled.

And a single line appeared.

Do you want to continue the story?

Kael stared.

"…Continue?"

No buttons.

No options.

Just the question.

"…What happens if I don't?"

Silence.

The screen didn't flicker.

Didn't change.

It simply—

Waited.

"…Then nothing changes."

Same room.

Same routine.

Same ending.

Kael looked at his reflection in the darkened screen.

Tired eyes stared back.

Unmoving.

"…Yeah."

His finger tapped the screen.

Darkness followed.

Not the kind that came from closing his eyes.

This was deeper.

Heavier.

"…What—"

A voice echoed—not aloud, but somewhere closer.

"You chose to continue."

Kael stilled.

"Then observe carefully."

Something shifted.

"This story does not wait."

Light returned.

Kael inhaled sharply.

"…!"

He sat up.

Fast.

Too fast.

This wasn't his room.

The space was wider.

Cleaner.

Sunlight poured through tall windows.

"…Where…"

He looked down.

His hands.

The same.

"…Not a dream."

He stood slowly.

Eyes moving.

Measuring.

Understanding.

Dormitory.

Academy.

"…So I'm inside it."

The novel.

Kael let out a quiet breath.

"…Then the rules apply."

No guarantees.

No safety.

No role.

"…I'm not the protagonist."

He already knew.

Because nothing felt like it.

"…Just an extra."

The kind that disappears.

He turned toward the door.

"…Then I'll observe first."

Not to win.

Not to change the world.

Just—

To survive it.

Kael Lith stepped forward.

And the story began.
