Today was the first day of spring—and the beginning of a new chapter in my class.
My school is about fifteen minutes away from my home. Like every day, my cousin and I were riding our bicycles together, laughing and talking, when suddenly a car sped past us. Before we could react, it splashed muddy water all over us and drove ahead.
I got so angry that I shouted at them without thinking.
A moment later, the car slowed down. The window rolled down, and a boy leaned out. He looked at us and said, "Sorry," before the car disappeared down the road.
For a second, everything felt… strange.
When I looked into his eyes, my pulse suddenly raced. My heart started beating faster than usual. I couldn't understand it at first—but then I realized… was this what attraction felt like?
Before I could think any further, the school bell rang. We hurried inside.
Sitting at my desk, I opened my favorite diary and started sketching. Art is something I truly love, even though my grades in other subjects aren't that great.
A few minutes later, our teacher entered the classroom. After greeting everyone, she called someone from outside.
And the moment I saw him—I froze.
It was him.
The same boy from the car.
My heart skipped a beat.
The teacher introduced him to the class. He smiled slightly and said,
"My name is Elmon. I've transferred here from a countryside school. I hope you'll accept me as your classmate."
Then the teacher allowed him to take an empty seat.
And somehow… that empty seat was right beside me.
He sat by the window, on my left. I couldn't help but glance at him. His soft brown hair moved gently with the breeze coming through the window, and his golden-brown eyes sparkled under the sunlight. His skin looked so smooth and warm—it felt like a dream I wasn't supposed to touch.
Suddenly, he turned and looked at me.
Our eyes met.
In that moment, something indescribable passed between us. A feeling so new, so beautiful… yet so overwhelming.
I quickly looked away, my heart pounding loudly.
The teacher tapped on the board, bringing me back to reality. I felt nervous for no reason at all.
After a while, I noticed him shifting slightly, as if he wanted to say something.
Then, quietly, he leaned a little closer.
"Hey… about this morning," he whispered.
My heart stopped for a second.
Was he really going to talk to me?
Or… was this just the beginning of something I wasn't ready for?
