My eyes widened, a cold, bitter knot twisting in my stomach as I stared back into his golden, hollow gaze.
"How generous of you," I spat, my voice laced with venom as a heavy frown dug into my brow. "Do you honestly think you can deceive me that easily? You think you're so smart, trying to act like Draven just to probe me and find out about Prudence."
He tilted his head, a low, smooth chuckle escaping his throat. "That was entirely too easy, Seraphina. I already knew that part of the story—the part you clearly haven't figured out yet."
Before I could demand what he meant by that, he suddenly straightened his back, his sharp eyes flicking toward the grand entrance of the master suite.
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
"Lord Draven!" a sentry's voice called out urgently from the other side of the heavy oak door. "Lord Malaki and Lord Nathan have just returned from the perimeter! Your presence is required in the courtyard immediately!"
