Chapter 28 - The Golden Pig of Plenty

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom called Greenfield. For many years, the rain had failed to fall, and the earth had grown hard and dry. The crops withered in the fields, and the people grew thin and sad. The King looked out from his castle walls and wept, for he could not feed his people.

"Alas," said the King, "what have we done to anger the heavens? Must we starve?"

One evening, when the sun was setting, a farmer ran into the city, shouting with all his might.

"Come look! Come look! In the western fields, something wonderful has appeared!"

The people rushed outside, and there, walking calmly among the dry stalks, was a strange and beautiful creature.

It looked like a big, fat pig, with a round body and soft skin. But from its mouth grew two long, shining tusks, curved like the crescent moon. It was not fierce or scary at all. On the contrary, it looked gentle and happy.

This was Dāng Kāng, the Spirit of Harvest.

The King approached it slowly. "Beautiful beast," he asked, "why do you come to us in our time of sorrow?"

Dāng Kāng let out a soft, happy grunt. It did not speak words, but its meaning was clear. It lowered its head and began to nudge the dry earth with its tusks.

Wherever its sharp teeth touched the ground, magic happened!

- The hard soil turned soft and rich.

- Green shoots sprouted instantly from the dust.

- The wheat grew tall and golden, waving in the wind.

- Rivers began to flow again, clear and cool.

Within moments, the entire kingdom changed from brown to green, from poverty to wealth!

The people cheered and danced. They had not seen such abundance in generations. The granaries were filled to the brim, and there was more than enough food for everyone.

The King realized that this was no ordinary animal. It was a blessing sent from heaven.

"Mighty Dāng Kāng," said the King, bowing low. "You have saved us all. Please, do not leave us. Stay and be the guardian of our land."

Dāng Kāng nodded its head wisely. It liked this kind King and these good people. It decided to make its home in the royal pasture.

From that day on, whenever Dāng Kāng walked through the fields, the crops grew better, the fruits grew sweeter, and everyone had plenty to eat. It was gentle and friendly, letting children play near it and never harming anyone.

People learned that true strength is not in sharp teeth or fierce claws, but in the power to give and to nourish.

And so, the kingdom of Greenfield knew no hunger again. The image of the pig with the long tusks was painted on every door and wall, a symbol of good fortune and endless harvest.

And they lived in peace and plenty, happily ever after.
