Chapter 35 - Chapter 34: “Flustered Morning”

Tuesday morning. The sunlight streamed softly through the curtains, but my mind was far from the quiet morning. Last night's private kiss was still fresh in my mind—Ethan's lips, the warmth, the way he held me… I could feel my cheeks heating just thinking about it.

I peeked from behind the couch, and there he was, sprawled on the sofa, hair messy, shirt slightly rumpled, looking impossibly good even in the soft morning light. My heart skipped.

"Morning," I whispered softly, trying to keep my voice calm, though my stomach was doing somersaults.

He stirred, eyes fluttering open, a slow, lazy smile forming. "Morning… sleepyhead," he murmured, voice still husky from sleep.

I laughed nervously, approaching him cautiously. "Ethan… last night…" I trailed off, face burning.

"Yes?" he teased, stretching his arms above his head, accidentally brushing mine. "Did I… do something wrong?"

"No! Not wrong," I admitted quickly, hiding my hands behind my back. "I… I just… can't stop thinking about it. You. Us."

He smirked, shifting closer on the sofa so our knees brushed. "Oh, so I'm haunting your thoughts now?" His thumb lightly traced the back of my hand, sending shivers through me.

"You're… impossible," I whispered, trying to keep my composure, though my heart was racing.

"Am I?" he teased, leaning just a little closer so our faces were almost touching. "And yet… you like it. Admit it."

I swallowed, feeling my cheeks burn. "Maybe… a little," I murmured.

"A little? That's it?" he raised an eyebrow, his smirk widening. "I think it's more than a little. Come on… you can't fool me, Lara."

I tried to hide my face in my hands, but he gently tugged them away, tilting my chin up with one finger. "See? There it is. That blush. The racing heart. Admit it fully—what are you feeling?"

"I… I like you. A lot. More than I thought I could," I confessed, voice trembling slightly. "And… last night… it was…" My words trailed off, lost in the heat of the moment.

His eyes softened, and he brushed a strand of hair from my face. "It was special," he said quietly, leaning in to press a gentle, lingering kiss on my forehead. "And we're just getting started."

I laughed nervously, hiding my smile in his shoulder. "You're so… teasing. I don't know if I can handle it."

"I like that challenge," he murmured, wrapping an arm around me, holding me close. "Besides… seeing you flustered like this? Worth it."

The morning felt alive, charged with lingering desire and playful tension. Contract rules, obligations, and careful boundaries—yes, they existed—but none of that mattered when we were here, teasing, laughing, and slowly discovering how much we wanted each other.

Because some mornings weren't just about waking up—they were about realizing how deep feelings could run… and how impossible it was to ignore them.
