Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: “The Game Outside”

Thursday morning.

Isabelle was at home, sipping her coffee, when her phone buzzed again.

This time, it wasn't a cryptic text—it was a social media post: a photo of Marco smiling with Clara at a charity gala the previous weekend, captioned innocently enough… but designed to stir suspicion.

Her chest tightened. "Seriously?" she muttered.

Marco walked in, stretching. "Morning, love. You okay?"

She showed him the post, her voice quiet but laced with frustration. "Look at this. People are going to gossip. Again."

Marco frowned, taking her hand. "This… is just another attempt to manipulate. It doesn't mean anything. I was there representing our company—Clara happened to be at the same event. That's it."

Isabelle bit her lip. "I want to believe you… but it's hard. She's everywhere."

Marco pulled her into a hug. "I know it's hard. But Isabelle, listen… trust isn't about ignoring your feelings. It's about believing in what you know is true. And I promise you—Clara means nothing to me. Nothing. You're the one I love."

She rested her head on his chest, letting his words sink in. "I know. I just… I hate that she won't stop."

"And she won't," Marco admitted. "But we can't let her control our lives. We fight this together—whether it's whispers at work or manipulations outside. We're a team. Always."

Later that evening, Clara made her next move. She sent Isabelle an anonymous package to the office—a small box containing a necklace with a note: "Don't think you can keep him forever."

Isabelle's hands shook as she opened it.

Marco appeared behind her instantly. "What is it?" he asked, eyes scanning the note and necklace.

Clara's plan was clear: sow doubt, insecurity, and tension.

He put his arm around Isabelle, pulling her close. "You see this? This is her game. Don't let it get to you. She's trying to create fear where there's none."

Isabelle exhaled, feeling tears prick her eyes. "I… I don't want to be afraid of her."

"You won't," Marco said firmly. "Because we face this together. Always. Nothing she does can change that."

And at that moment, Isabelle realized something crucial: love wasn't only about calm moments or shared happiness.

Sometimes, love was about holding onto trust when everything around you tried to shake it.

She looked up at Marco, determination in her eyes. "You're right. We face this together. No matter what."

Marco smiled, brushing a loose strand of hair from her face. "Exactly. Together. And Clara? She'll see that nothing she does can break us—because we're stronger than her games."

Even as the world seemed determined to test them, Isabelle and Marco had found a truth that no manipulation could destroy: their love, their trust, and their unity.

And that was something worth fighting for—every single time.
