Reiji looked around at the five demons surrounding him. Their killing intent was thick enough to make the atmosphere feel heavy, but Reiji remained completely calm. His gaze eventually settled on the demoness who had been fighting him earlier.
"Which floor guardians are you?" he asked.
None of them answered.
Reiji waited for several seconds, but the demons simply stared at him with hostile expressions. It seemed they had no intention of satisfying his curiosity. Then, one of the demons stepped forward with an arrogant grin.
"Since you're going to die anyway, I don't see any harm in telling you," the demon said. "We're the upper-floor guardians. We guard the forty-fifth floor. Two of us are responsible for the fortieth floor, while the remaining guardians are stationed on the floors above us. There aren't any monsters occupying the floors between here and them."
Reiji's lips curled into a small smile.
"Thank you for the information."
