Seeing his opportunity, Drogon swooped down toward a wounded Unsullied. The tip of his wing grazed the neck of a guard surrounding him, and blood erupted in a crimson spray as the man collapsed, clutching his throat, convulsing twice before falling still.
After killing one, Drogon turned toward the guards surrounding Jorah. With a single swipe of his claw, he tore open the neck of one guard, severing the carotid artery and causing blood to gush more violently than from the throat-slashed man.
Only after two deaths did the guards in the melee realize something was wrong. Drogon was too fast, and the night obscured him; they only caught glimpses of a black shadow streaking past before a comrade fell clutching his neck.
Now, while fighting Jorah and his group, they had to remain vigilant against the unseen shadow that might strike at any moment.
As the balance shifted, Jorah and his group gradually regained the upper hand, reforming their defensive formation.
Drogon didn't go on a rampage, nor did he set fires. He only intervened when a member of the group was in danger or about to fall. He wouldn't miss such a perfect opportunity to train them, his daily dragon-training habits seamlessly extending to training humans.
Seeing Drogon occasionally rescue them when they were in danger, the five fought with even greater abandon. Within ten minutes, combined with Drogon's assistance, they had annihilated their enemies, who outnumbered them by dozens.
The five ran along the planned route toward the main gate, while Drogon circled overhead, surveying the terrain and guards.
The main gate had clearly received word of the breach at the side gate and was sending guards in waves. Knowing Jorah and his men were exhausted, Drogon landed on a rooftop and transformed into his adult form. His fifteen-meter wingspan completely blotted out the moonlight over the street.
Both Jorah and the guards stared up in terror at the massive black shadow looming overhead, like a demon descending from the heavens.
Daario only realized it was a dragon when he saw the crimson wings gleaming in the moonlight. When he asked Jorah, he learned it was Drogon. He never imagined Drogon could change size, and his adult form was far more terrifying than the other two dragons that often soared through the skies—more than twice as large.
The Yunkai guards had never seen such a colossal dragon before. Their charging steps froze mid-stride.
*Roar!*
A piercing dragon's roar echoed across the night sky, shaking the entire city of Yunkai. All the guards turned in terror toward the source of the sound.
The Wise Masters and slaves of Yunkai were also awakened by the roar. They scrambled out of bed and hurried out of their rooms, searching for the source of the sound.
The Wise Masters, forgetting all about the beauties at their side, hastily pulled up their trousers and ran toward the city walls. They hadn't expected Daenerys to launch her siege without waiting for their response, nor had they anticipated the involvement of dragons.
Seeing the dazed guards still standing there, Drogon unleashed a blast of black-red dragonfire, instantly engulfing dozens of them in flames.
The remaining guards, their courage shattered by the terrifying shadow and the looming dragonfire, threw down their weapons and fled back into the city, not daring to leave a single man at the gate.
As the guards retreated, Drogon ceased his fiery assault. Instead, he swooped low along the city walls, his massive shadow instantly engulfing the Yunkai ramparts. His claws swept just above the heads of the guards, driving them from their posts in a desperate scramble to take cover below.
*Roar!*
*Roar!*
Two dragon roars, far weaker than Drogon's, echoed from the distance. Rhaegal and Viserion, who had been circling Daenerys's position, could no longer bear to remain among the troops. They followed Drogon's lead, spiraling rapidly above the city walls.
The Yunkai garrison's morale instantly collapsed. Not a single man dared to raise a spear.
Without needing Daario's signal, Daenerys knew the time had come. She ordered the Unsullied and mercenaries to charge the city gates.
With no guards to stop them, Jorah and the others immediately threw open the gates to welcome the army into the city.
Daenerys ordered a contingent of Unsullied to capture the Wise Master, while the rest were tasked with rooting out any remaining resistance in Yunkai.
They were instructed to cut the slave collars from the necks of any slaves they encountered, restoring their freedom, and strictly forbade the mercenaries from engaging in burning, killing, and looting.
The Wise Master's own garrison was composed almost entirely of slaves. As the Unsullied severed the collars of the other slaves and the sky dragon's imposing presence loomed overhead, the slave-soldiers quickly surrendered their weapons. The siege was over in less than half an hour.
Nearly all the Wise Masters were captured, and the slaves were gradually liberated. After the army entered the city, Jorah and the others led them to seize the Wise Master's palace, calming the panicked slaves and restoring order to Yunkai.
Once the initial arrangements were settled, Jorah, Grey Worm, and the others, exhausted and wounded, returned to the council chamber. One of the Unsullied, a young man named Little Sparrow, was the most severely injured, needing Grey Worm to support him as he walked.
"Missandei, record their military achievements clearly. I will reward them generously. When we return to the Seven Kingdoms, I will grant them titles and lands," Daenerys promised solemnly, looking at the five blood-stained warriors.
"I ask for no reward, only to remain by Your Majesty's side," Grey Worm stepped forward and said.
"You will remain by my side, and the rewards are yours to claim. You are not slaves; those who serve deserve recompense. You are my officer, the commander of the Unsullied. From this day forward, do not refer to yourself as 'this humble one.' Use 'I.'" Daenerys met Grey Worm's gaze as she spoke.
"Yes, Your Majesty," Grey Worm replied, retreating to his original position.
"What is your name? How severe are your injuries?" Daenerys asked, walking over to Little Sparrow, who was the most severely wounded.
"Your Majesty... I am Little Sparrow. It's just a minor wound; I'll recover in a few days."
Looking at Little Sparrow, who appeared two or three years younger than Grey Worm, Daenerys turned to Missandei. "Find the best physicians in Yunkai to treat my heroes. Ensure there are no lingering ailments. I need them on the battlefield again!"
Watching the five men's excited expressions, Drogon couldn't help but admire the Dragon Mother's skill. This... this was inherited.
After a night of work, Daenerys finally rested near dawn. She had slept less than two hours when Eli entered the tent and woke her, informing her that the freed slaves of Yunkai wished to see her.
After a quick wash, Daenerys and Missandei arrived at Yunkai Square. The square was already filled with men, women, and children of all ages, their skin dark and their bodies emaciated, except for a pale ring around their necks where their collars had been.
On the high platform, Barristan, Jorah, Daario, and the others were already waiting for her.
When the crowd saw Daenerys and Drogon on her shoulder, a commotion arose, and they surged toward the platform, eager to get closer to her.
Stepping onto the platform, Missandei moved forward and declared, "This is Daenerys Targaryen, Stormborn, The Unburnt, Breaker of Chains, Mother of Dragons. She conquered Yunkai, captured the Wise Master who enslaved you, and ordered the removal of your collars."
After Missandei finished, Daenerys announced, "You are now free. Go wherever you wish. I will distribute the Wise Master's wealth among you as compensation for his years of enslavement. You are now free!"
Yet not a single slave moved. They simply stared at Daenerys. She felt a strange unease, and the others on the platform also wondered why the slaves didn't leave.
