Chapter 2 - My People Are Eating Grass?!

002 My People Are Eating Grass?!

Suddenly, Jian Feng noticed that fifty small slots had appeared at the very bottom of his computer screen. The first and second slots on the left each contained an icon featuring a distinct pattern.

"What on earth is this? Are they decorative items for buildings?!"

Puzzled, he moved his mouse cursor over and clicked on the first slot.

[Male Human [x10]]: Randomly generates a male infant, boy, adult man, or elderly man.]

[Note: Press and hold the left mouse button to drag the item into the sandbox and successfully deploy it.]

Half-skeptical, Jian Feng pressed and held the left mouse button, then dragged the icon to the area just below the altar.

[Deployment Successful: [Male Human Item -1]]

[Woo-hoo!]

A sudden, loud "Woo-hoo!" startled him so badly that he nearly tumbled off his chair!

"Good grief! Does placing a person even come with sound effects?!"

After steadying himself, Jian Feng turned his gaze back toward the computer screen.

[Congratulations, Creator God! You have successfully created your first human being. You have been awarded 100 Divine Faith Points.]

"And what the hell are these 'Divine Faith Points' supposed to be?!"

With absolutely no tutorial for beginners, he felt completely lost and disoriented; he could only shake his head in bewilderment.

Regardless, Jian Feng was now thoroughly captivated by this sandbox—whether it was a game or some kind of virus remained unclear—and his sense of anticipation was growing stronger by the moment!

Gazing at the figure standing beneath the Divine Altar on his computer screen, it was immediately obvious that the individual was an adult male.

He was clad in the style of ancient times—remarkably simple attire—yet this in no way hindered him as he currently bounced around with boundless energy. Watching this scene, Jian Feng's lips curled into a faint smile; finding the situation rather amusing, he immediately began to move his mouse cursor.

He positioned the cursor over the figure and clicked; to his surprise, a block of small text suddenly hovered into view.

"So much text—it's making my head spin."

Staring at the sheer volume of text, Jian Feng nearly tumbled out of his chair; he had never expected things to be quite so complex.

"Still, it really is interesting—just like playing an RPG survival game. That's my specialty! Now that I have a bird's-eye view of the entire situation, won't everything I do be as effortless as lifting a finger?"

Jian Feng flashed a devilish grin as he took a moment to examine the interface currently displayed on his computer screen.

Top-left corner of the screen: [Divine Faith Points: 100]

Top-right corner of the screen: [Population: 1] [Buildings: 1]

At the very bottom of the screen lay a row of fifty slots; the five slots on the far right were already filled with icons. The icon depicted a figure with a pair of radiant wings, standing at the very center of a sacred altar.

"This... this is actually *my* face!"

Upon taking a closer look, Jian Feng felt a sudden chill run down his spine; he abruptly stood up and scanned his surroundings, searching for any hidden surveillance cameras.

After a thorough sweep of the room, he sank back into his chair, raised his hands to clutch his hair, and stared at the computer screen in utter disbelief.

He had come to the realization that this entire experience seemed to have been tailor-made specifically for him—that, in this sandbox world, he was truly a "God."

Jian Feng reached out to grasp the mouse, moving the cursor to the grid slot located at the bottom-right corner of the screen.

[Divine Miracles]

*Click.*

The moment he clicked on [Divine Miracles], seven smaller grid slots suddenly materialized directly above it.

Fortunately, the laptop he was using featured a large screen and a high refresh rate, allowing him to clearly discern the intricate icons and patterns contained within each of the slots.

*Click... click...*

After a total of seven distinct clicks, the computer screen filled with a multitude of small grid slots, each displaying a unique design—a sight that Jian Feng observed with rapt fascination! Water Element:

[Dense Fog: 10][Thunderstorm & Heavy Rain: 30]

[Dust Cloud: 10][Snowstorm: 100]

[Volcanic Eruption: 100][Fire Tornado: 100]

"Why are there so many options? Does spending Divine Faith Points actually allow me to summon these things?!"

Jian Feng felt puzzled, yet he refrained from trying it out; after all, he currently possessed a mere 100 Divine Faith Points—resources he certainly couldn't afford to squander carelessly.

Subsequently, he shifted his gaze toward the human male seated beneath the Divine Altar. He noticed the man sitting motionless on the ground, appearing utterly solitary.

"How could I have only *one* subject? Let's release the rest—all of them!"

Jian Feng canceled the Divine Miracle interface and moved his cursor to the first and second slots on the left.

*Click-clack, click-clack, click-clack!*

[Woo-hoo~][Woo-hoo~]

After a flurry of inputs, the "Woo-hoo" sound rang out nineteen times. Nine males and ten females appeared beneath the Divine Altar, and the original human male quickly blended in with the group.

"Look at those figures!"

As Jian Feng gazed at some of the humans, his entire body practically boiled with excitement!

Fortunately, all the humans he had released were adults. They immediately began interacting with one another; surely, it wouldn't be long before they learned how to construct houses. Because the activity on the screen had become so intense—almost frenzied—he no longer dared to look at the computer monitor.

"I happen to be hungry right now, and there's still money in my account. I'll order some takeout, and while I'm at it, I'll send my father a New Year's red envelope..."

"I'll send him 2,000. That leaves me with 3,600. Rent and utilities for this month come to 600, so the remaining 3,000 should be enough to tide me over until I find my next job."

Having finished his little monologue, he stood up, walked over to his bed, and lay down, paying no further heed to whatever was currently unfolding on his computer screen.

After transferring the 2,000 yuan to his father, he opened a food delivery app and began browsing through the various culinary options.

*Ding!* Order placed successfully. 20 yuan deducted.

Upon hearing the notification confirming his order, Jian Feng set his phone aside, switched off the lights, pulled the covers over himself, closed his eyes, and drifted off to sleep.

Meanwhile, inside the computer—within the sandbox world—many changes were taking place.

...

*Knock, knock—*

*Knock, knock—*

The ringing of his phone roused Jian Feng from his deep slumber. He figured it must be the takeout he had ordered, so he tossed his blanket aside without a second thought and headed toward the door.

"Hello! You ordered delivery from 'E-Mei'!"

The moment he opened the door, he was greeted by a delivery courier clad in a uniform of yellow and blue.

"Great. Thanks for your hard work—I appreciate it."

Jian Feng politely accepted the food, then immediately closed the door and walked back toward his computer. All his life—from childhood right up to the present—he had rarely interacted with others; whenever he tried to speak, his words were invariably ignored. Over time, he simply gave up on trying, choosing instead to live out his life within the confines of his own world.

Arriving back at his computer, he pulled out his chair, plopped himself down, and unwrapped his meal. The savory aroma wafted up to meet him, instantly lifting his spirits! "Just a simple meal—some chicken."

Jianfeng had ordered a kiln-roasted chicken—one of his all-time favorite dishes. Slipping on a pair of gloves, he tore off a drumstick, popped it into his mouth, and began to chew it slowly, savoring every bite.

As he ate, he grew curious about the current state of the sandbox world displayed on his computer screen, so he shifted his gaze toward it.

"Holy crap!"

To his astonishment, he saw that—not far from the Sacred Altar—numerous structures built entirely out of grass had sprung up. The inhabitants themselves were also draped from head to toe in green grass.

The fact that they were actually building houses on their own left Jianfeng utterly dumbfounded. Rubbing his eyes with his free hand—the one without a glove—he took another look.

Although they had managed to construct dwellings, their population count remained unchanged, and no new Sacred Faith Points had been generated. Leaning in a little closer, he made a shocking discovery: they were eating grass!

"How can my subjects be eating grass? That is absolutely outrageous!"
