Chapter 58 - Back To The Present

"And that's what happened!" Lukas and Nicola were both so grateful that Drew's story was finally over. They both finally were able to relax, and maybe even get some good sleep. Viktor hits the bed to wake them up before they could even enter REM sleep though. Which was a bummer.

"Sooo… what do we do now…?" Nicola asked.

"We of course, try to break out of this shithole! Also we should probably help everyone else too…" Drew said.

"How would we do that…?" Lukas interjected.

"I mean… you guys could kill every guard in this facility, and then convince all the Stancers to revolt and kill my brother… but I don't know if you guys are willing to do all of that…" Viktor suggested. Lukas thought about it for a second, before ultimately shaking his head no. Nicola and Drew also came to around the same conclusion, most of them were normal people, and they didn't want unnecessary casualties. Viktor was kind of looking forward to some sort of massacre, but he understood.

"Well then… you guys got any more ideas here…?" Drew was honestly getting exhausted after all of this. Lukas and Nicola both start to scratch their chins, if only one of them could come up with a reasonable plan for all of them to work with, that would be great.

"Hmm… didn't they say this place was called camp delta?" Drew asked. "δ is the 4th letter of the Greek alphabet, and such a letter would be way too random for only a singular camp to exist. So that means there's probably at least 23 other ones scattered around the country, with just as many, if not more people!" Drew came to a pretty insightful conclusion. Viktor looked impressed with his thinking.

"I think one of the supervisors of this place said something about another camp hearing about our mistake…" Nicola remembered. "So you're saying there could be like a camp α or something?"

"Yeah… you guys are right about other camps… There are exactly 24. Between α, and ω" Viktor cut in. "In fact, camp γ is I think a couple kilometers north of this place, they operate similarly to this place, but I believe it's a lot harsher than what you guys had to deal with" they all seemed to be a little worried on what Viktor said.

"Well then, what the fuck are we waiting for! Let's go check that place out!" Nicola wanted to get this over with, and finally be able to go back home.

"Well first of all… we have to make sure we have a safe place to leave. Second of all, I'm not coming for obvious reasons. If this is your guy's last stop, then this is in fact where I drew the line. Third of all, the trek there is not for the week, it could take you guy's hours, just to get through the thick forest, let alone reach camp γ." The three of them knew that Viktor wasn't really their friend, but it still ticked them off nonetheless. It especially made Drew mad, since he had spent the most time with him and all.

"Why?! You've already betrayed your brother, and this entire organization! What's stopping you from going the next step—"

"Because I only came here to somehow get more test subjects, that's the whole reason why I suggested killing all of those guards in the first place" Viktor reminded them. "Trust me If it was a normal person, I would've boycotted this place since day 1. But I'm not. Nobody is…" Viktor went kind of deep with that last sentence. Catching them all off guard.

"Wow! Ok I guess… you won't snitch on us, will you…?" Nicola asked.

"No, why would I do that?" Viktor questioned him.

"Well then, let's get going you two…" Drew motions for Lukas and Nicola to follow him, but Viktor stops them for a second.

"If you can't do anything else, react with violence. That's my only piece of advice for you nut jobs…" Viktor warned them. Drew looks at Viktor, and thinks to himself: Really?! You're calling us nut jobs?!

Lukas and Nicola, both get off of the stained hospital bed, and follow Drew out of the brightest room known to man. It'll take a while before their eyes start to adjust back to be able to see anything in the dark. The light slowly fades after they walk out, all the way until the corner, in which the light fully stops illuminating the rest of the way. They all have to hold on tight the gross wall, just so they don't bump into anything, this also means that Nicola wouldn't be holding his hand like last time, he really did not like that one bit.

Thankfully for all of them, it only took them around a minute or two to crawl their way out of there. Finally seeing the hallway ahead of them being lit up. Lukas runs over to it, making Nicola and Drew run after him.

The smell of the hallway was like no other to Lukas' nose. It felt almost heavenly compared to the stench he was trying his best to ignore. Nicola also seemed to be going through the same thing, since he wasn't covering his nose anymore. Drew finally made his way out of there, and looked both ways before fully stepping in. With his suit contrasting their dirty clothes, Lukas and Nicola hope that they don't look out of the ordinary.

"Hey! Drew!" Lukas goes over to whisper into Drew's left ear. "Where do we go next…?" he asked. Drew shrugged his shoulders, saying: "I don't know… we should probably look around for something though…"

Nicola points his finger to the right, signifying that that should be where they head off to. Lukas and Drew didn't have any argument against it, so they went along. They walked along the hallway, going through different twists and turns. Almost getting caught sometimes, but they would just walk another way before any other guard could question them on where they're going. That plan was going well, until…

"Hey!!!" someone from behind the three of them, screams for their attention, which he gets a boat load of. "What are you doing with those traitor Stancers beside you…?" Drew lets out a tiny gulp, as he tenses up, not knowing what to do anymore.
