BOOM!!
The bolt of lightning crashed into him, but unlike what Orion expected, there was no pain.
Instead, his arm that was twisted in an unnatural angle suddenly started shifting back into place,
But even that came with no pain, only a slight electric tingling, similar to a cramp...
Orion didn't have the chance to properly understand what was happening, when a golden holographic interface suddenly popped up before him.
[System installing… 12%]
Although he expected this much, Orion held in his excitement, after all, that old bastard might just try and screw him over again.
[System installing… 37%]
Still though, If that old man sent him here without anything, then that would've been the real surprise.
The tingling sensation spread from his arm to the rest of his body, subtle currents running beneath his skin.
[System installing… 100%]
[Installation Complete.]
[Initializing… Mythic Summoning System.]
"A Mythic Summoning system?" Orion muttered, the system name did make it look over powered, but he didn't jump to any conclusions just yet.
All the other interfaces disappeared, before a new one suddenly popped up again.
[Welcome, Host: Orion Ashbourne.]
[Would You like to view your status screen?]
"Yes," Orion said, hoping, no praying that the old bastard sent him something good.

"You've got to be kidding me," he said as a dry laugh escaped him.
Of course.
Of course it would be like this.
Give him the ability to summon legendary beasts and then make sure he couldn't even use it.
"That old bastard!"
But as if to defend its creator, another interface suddenly popped up.
[Condition to Unlock Sytem's abilities: First Successful Contract]
"...." Orion looked at the interface for a short while before asking, "and how the hell am I supposed to contract anything without first summoning them?"
[....]
[Host has successfully unlocked Elite Contract.]
"...."
That old bastard really was determined to screw with him.
But Orion just sighed as he continued leaning on the wall and asked, "how can I summon a beast?"
[To summon a beast, the host needs Mythic Energy.]
[Current Mythic Energy: 1 / 100]
[Minimum Requirement for Elite Summon: 5 Mythic Energy]
"In other words, I can't," he muttered as he looked at the at the interface before him.
He figured out that Mythic energy was some was some sort of currency, the only problem was, "how do I gain Mythic Energy?"
[The host can gain Mythic Energy by either completing system assigned tasks, exchanging beast cores for mythic energy or killing another being.]
"..." Again, Orion was silent, he wasn't really sure of what to think of the system basically telling him to kill.
But then again, if this world was like the ones he had read in various novels and mangas, then it was a dog eat dog world, and the opportunity to gain Mythic Energy through killing would surely present itself.
And from the previous Orion's memories, this world was definitely one like that. Whilst he was lost in thoughts, a system interface suddenly appeared before him again,
[Would the host like to open the system's starter pack?]
"Of course," Orion didn't even hesitate to answer.
[Starter pack successfully opened.]
[Starter Pack Contents: Mythic Energy ×50, Elite Summoning Scroll ×1, 1,000 Gold Coins.]
"Well, that's convenient," Orion muttered as he looked at the the screen before him.
With, 50 Mythic Energy, he could get up to ten Elite summons, but something told him he didn't want to waste his Mythic Energy just yet.
Besides, he had a summoning scroll, so might as well use that and find out exactly how strong the elite summons were.
As if reading his thoughts, the system suddenly displayed another interface again.
[Would the host like to use the Elite Summoning Scroll?]
"Yes," Orion replied, keeping his fingers crossed, he hoped for something good but with that old man's streak, he'd just be screwed over again.
[Summoning in progress....10%]
The moment that interface appeared, multiple glowing runes suddenly appeared a few meters away from him,
"This better be good," he muttered as he looked at the glow get brighter and brighter by the second.
The runes got so bright that even he had to shield his face with his arm.
Usually, during a summoning ritual, the brighter the glow, the stronger the beast that would be summoned, so this was definitely a good sign.
The only problem was the fact that he was still in the alley way and someone was bound to spot the glow.
Still, he'd deal with that later, for now, all he cared about was the system giving him something good.
It took a few minutes, but the glow died down and Orion slowly put the hand shielding his eyes down.
His vision was blurred for a few seconds, but when they cleared up, his blue eyes beheld his newest and fist summon.
Well, almost, but the system's interfaces suddenly cluttered his vision, almost as if someone was preventing him from seeing his summon.
[Congratulations to the host for completing a system mission]
[Mission (completed): Summon your first beast.
Reward: Skill 'Beast storage' unlocked, +30 Mythic Energy.]
Orion quickly dismissed them only for another to block his vision again, making him even more suspicious of what he had just summoned.
[Mission 2 (ongoing): Successfully contract your summoned beast.
Reward: Beast Interface Unlocked – Manage all summoned beasts, view stats, abilities, and forms.
Reward: +20 Mythic Energy.
Reward: Skill 'Contract Mastery' – Increases chance of successful contracts with elite and higher beasts]
Quickly, Orion dismissed the screen again, his suspicion was rising by the second.
In the previous few seconds, the system screen was always holographic, and it kept appearing without blocking his vision at all,
But right now, the interfaces were so close that he couldn't see a single thing through it.
"Turn off all notifications," Orion suddenly said and the interfaces suddenly disappeared, leaving him a view of his summon.
His eyes twitched for a few seconds before he turned to the sky and cursed,
"You damn old bastard!"
