_________

My name is Zhang Quanling. I was a young man with a happy family and a successful career as a design director.

At twenty-six, I had it all: a loving wife, a house, and a hefty salary. You could say I was a minor winner in the game of life. After all, living in the capital—where real estate costs a staggering forty thousand a square meter—owning an eighty-one-square-meter apartment was something plenty of people envied! But for the sake of the woman I loved, I was willing to hustle and bleed for every penny.

I should have had a bright future, a warm home, and a long, comfortable life.

But it was all cut short by a sudden, senseless prank.

While waiting on the platform during a business trip to Japan, a bratty kid threw a tantrum because I wouldn't give him the candy I was holding. In a fit of petty rage, he shoved me right off the platform. I was crushed beneath a speeding train, my soul sent straight to the afterlife.

What happened immediately after I died, I don't know. I only hope my wife is living well; I never wanted her to suffer.

What I didn't know then was that I was about to be reborn—thrust into a fictional world to roam the endless seas. What I knew even less was that the powers from my previous life would eventually return to me, only for me to become entangled in a psychotic conspiracy, forced to run for my life.

Sea Circle Calendar, Year 1515.

The Kululu Archipelago. A remote, virtually unknown cluster of islands located in the East Blue.

Comprised of sixty-eight islands of varying sizes, the archipelago sat a mere three thousand nautical miles from the Red Line. To make matters worse, the environment was exceptionally harsh. The locals had a saying: "Scarcely three days of sunshine; once it rains, it never stops." Due to the endless downpours and rare sunlight, the islands were almost entirely swallowed by dense rainforests—sweltering, oppressive, and completely devoid of human life.

Matching this brutal climate were the terrifying creatures that called it home.

Originally, the Kululu Archipelago was barren. However, for reasons unknown, massive Sea Kings had been driven out of the ocean and onto its shores. Relying on the dampness of the rainforests, these aquatic titans barely managed to survive. But to adapt to the sweltering heat of the land, they were forced to evolve, transforming into monstrous amphibious beasts.

In the beginning, it wasn't an issue. There weren't many species, and territory was abundant. Over time, however, the population exploded, and space grew desperately scarce.

The Kululu Archipelago devolved into a brutal arena governed entirely by the law of the jungle. It became a forbidden zone for the weak, where terrifying predators engaged in bloody, life-or-death struggles every single day. Only the strong survived. The weak ended up in the bellies of the victors, or rotted away as fertilizer for the suffocating rainforest.

Some of the weaker Sea Kings—those who retained exceptional aquatic abilities—abandoned the land and fled back into the ocean, evolving once more to survive the depths.

This mass migration created a horrifying reality: the waters surrounding the Kululu Archipelago became an absolute death zone for humanity.

To set foot on the island, one needed enough power to terrify its entire ecosystem; otherwise, they would simply be torn to shreds. Even a Marine Rear Admiral—unless they were an absolute elite—wouldn't dare step foot here. Their strength simply wasn't enough to deter the savage wildlife.

Ninety percent of the pirate ships, merchant vessels, and cargo freighters that sailed this route ended up at the bottom of the sea, leaving absolutely no survivors.

Thus, the Kululu Archipelago earned a chilling new moniker: Devil's Paradise. A place where mortals dared not tread.
