Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Hidden Dragon of the Sanctum

The Inner Sanctum was not just a building; it was a separate floating island held up by massive ancient chains. Here, the air was so pure that every breath increased one's lifespan. But for Akash, it felt like walking into a cage of lions.

[SOVEREIGN CORE: COOLING DOWN...]

Meera walked beside him, her face pale. She kept glancing at Akash's sleeve where the broken blade was hidden. "Akash, that lie back there... if the Grand Elders find out, even the Sect Leader won't be able to protect you. Why did you point to the Forbidden Cave?"

"Because," Akash whispered, his eyes scanning the floating pagodas, "the best place to hide a real monster is behind a fake one. Besides, that cave does have something inside. I felt it."

They reached the Hall of Supreme Swords, where the Sect Leader, Master Yun, was waiting. He wasn't sitting on a throne; he was standing by a window, looking at the clouds. His presence was so calm that it was terrifying.

"Meera, you have done well to bring this boy back," Master Yun said, without turning around. "And Akash... the boy from Stone Village who 'shattered' the Mirror of Truth and was 'saved' by an ancestor in the cave."

Akash felt a cold shiver. The way Master Yun said 'saved' made it clear he didn't fully believe the story.

[TARGET: MASTER YUN]

[LEVEL: FOUNDATION ESTABLISHMENT - PEAK]

Suddenly, Master Yun turned. His eyes were like clear pools of water, but they seemed to see right through Akash's soul. "Tell me, Akash. If the 'ancestor' saved you, why does your body smell of Void Energy? The same energy that left that trench in the valley?"

Meera gasped, her hand flying to her mouth.

Akash's heart hammered against his ribs. He had underestimated a Peak Foundation Establishment expert's senses.

[EMERGENCY MISSION: THE SILENT GAMBIT]

[OBJECTIVE: CONVINCE MASTER YUN TO BE YOUR ALLY]

[REWARD: SOVEREIGN'S CULTIVATION CHAMBER ACCESS]

"Master Yun," Akash said, taking a step forward instead of back. He didn't bow; he looked the Sect Leader straight in the eye. "Every dragon has its secrets. You have your Forbidden Cave, and I have my... inheritance. Is it not enough that I saved an Inner Disciple and killed an assassin of the Blood-Moon Sect?"

The Elders in the room gasped at Akash's boldness. "How dare you speak to the Sect Leader without bowing!" one of them roared.

Master Yun raised a hand, silencing the room. A small, mysterious smile played on his lips. "An inheritance that can erase a Level 9 expert while the user is only at Level 4... or now Level 6. Truly remarkable."

He walked closer to Akash, his voice dropping to a whisper that only Akash could hear. "I don't care what you found or who gave it to you. But know this: the figure in white you saw on the cliff... he is not from our Sect. He is an observer from the Upper Realms. And he is looking for the 'Sovereign's Heir'."

Akash's blood ran cold. The 'Upper Realms'? The game was much bigger than just this Sect.

"If you want to live," Master Yun continued, "you will become my Personal Disciple. Not for your safety, but to hide you in plain sight. Are you ready to enter the Dragon-Pool Trial? It is the only way to mask your aura permanently."Master Yun's proposal wasn't just an offer; it was a warning. If Akash refused, he would be fresh meat for the 'Observer' from the Upper Realms.

"I accept," Akash said, his voice firm. "If I have to dive into a pool of dragons to survive, then so be it."

[MISSION UPDATED: THE SILENT GAMBIT]

[SUB-GOAL: SURVIVE THE DRAGON-POOL]

Master Yun nodded and waved his sleeve. The floor of the hall shifted, revealing a spiral staircase that led deep into the heart of the floating island. As they descended, the temperature rose, and the roar of rushing water grew louder.

At the bottom lay the Dragon-Pool. It wasn't water inside; it was liquid spiritual essence, glowing with a fierce, emerald light.

"This pool contains the blood of a fallen Green Dragon," Master Yun explained, standing at the edge. "It will attempt to rewrite your DNA. If your will is strong, it will mask your Sovereign aura with a Dragon's breath. If you are weak, it will dissolve your bones into soup."

Meera grabbed Akash's arm, her eyes pleading. "Akash, even the strongest Inner Disciples only stay in for ten minutes. Please... don't push yourself."

Akash gave her a small, confident smile. "Ten minutes? I'm planning on staying until the pool runs dry."

Akash stripped to his waist, revealing the star-shaped scar on his shoulder. With a deep breath, he plunged into the emerald liquid.

"ARRRRGH!"

The moment he touched the liquid, it felt like a thousand burning needles were entering his pores. The dragon's essence was violent, trying to crush his Level 6 meridians.

[WARNING: HOST BODY UNDER ATTACK!]

[SOVEREIGN CORE ACTIVATING OVERDRIVE!]

Inside the pool, Akash saw visions of a colossal dragon being torn apart by golden chains. The dragon's roar echoed in his mind, "Who are you to claim my blood?!"

"I am the one who will conquer the heavens!" Akash roared back in his mind.

He opened his mouth and began to swallow the liquid essence directly.

"Is he crazy?!" one of the Elders watching from above screamed. "He's drinking the dragon blood! His stomach will explode!"

But instead of exploding, Akash's body began to emit a blinding light. The golden Qi of the Sovereign Core began to wrap around the emerald dragon energy, wrestling it into submission.

[NEW TRAIT ACQUIRED: DRAGON-SCALE MERIDIANS]

[LEVEL UP! LEVEL 6 -> LEVEL 7]

Hours passed. Meera refused to leave the poolside. Even Master Yun's calm exterior was cracking. It had been six hours—a record that hadn't been broken in a thousand years.

Suddenly, the pool began to swirl into a whirlpool. All the emerald liquid was being sucked into the center—into Akash's chest.

When the last drop vanished, Akash stood at the bottom of the empty stone pit. His skin had a faint, metallic sheen, and his aura was completely different. He no longer felt like a golden sun; he felt like a silent, prehistoric beast.

[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED]

[REWARD: SOVEREIGN'S CULTIVATION CHAMBER UNLOCKED]

[AURA MASKING: 100% SUCCESSFUL]

Akash looked up at Master Yun and the stunned Elders. He jumped out of the pit, landing silently.

"The Dragon-Pool is empty, Master," Akash said, his voice now carrying a strange, resonant vibration. "What's next?"

Master Yun looked at the empty pit, then at Akash. He realized he hadn't just taken a disciple; he had invited a storm into his Sect.

"Next," Master Yun said, his voice grave, "the Observer is coming to the Inner Sanctum to meet the 'Genius' who emptied our pool. Hide your blade, Akash. If he sees it, even I can't stop him from killing you."
