Heading inside the alley, looking left and right, his mind fully on alert, looking for the slightest movement or the slightest sound that could indicate anything was around him, Alan quickly found his next target.
As he had entered the closest alley to the start of the dungeon just as he had expected, there was no crimson slime, there weren't even three regular slimes, just a singular green slime that was currently enveloping an entire trashcan and trying to dissolve it with its stomach acid.
'Alright you piece of shit…' Alan thought as he gripped his makeshift spear as hard as he could and thrust forwards directly into the slime's glass core.
*Shatter*
The glass core shattered instantly as he received the system notifications about the kill and exp and loot gained instantly after.
Taking a deep breath, he started moving slowly deeper into the dark alley.
'Still… what I dont understand is how that thing got a hold of a human leg… are there other humans around here? Did someone come here before me? What exactly are system dungeons? I'm so fucking confused and there's no god damn answers.' Alan thought as he headed deeper and deeper into the alley.
Looking around at the structure of it, the alley which had been created inbetween two modern japanese tall buildings was slowly but surely changing.
The amount of moss on the white slab like walls was increasing, the quality of the slabs themselves was degrading at a visible rate after every few meters, just slightly but enough for him to visually notice it.
The path itself that had been made of concrete was slowly turning more gravelly aswell as his feet actually started making noise as he walked down the alley.
'It's like everything around me is growing older. How long is this alley anyways? Is it infinite? An infinite length for each alley?' Alan thought to himself and somehow he found that it was likely to be true.
'Just like how the grassy field plains were infinite, if I were to assume that this dungeon is made of mini levels which are represented by these alleyes then the infinite that was in the past dungeon is likely true for these aswell, just that its didn't feel like It at first when I entered directly into the main road.' Alan thought to himself, as he released a soft sigh, he felt more mentally drained than he had in a long time, he always recovered everytime that he leveled up and he had, he had leveled up quite a few levels since the possession incident, however he had just seen a scene that looked like one that had come straight out of a nightmare from hell, right after the possession that hadn't even been an entire real life day apart from this.
Physically he was in top condition, he wasn't even tired at all, and neither was he sweating or injured or drugged up in any way shape or form. However he had noticed that the level ups didnt fix his mental, they didn't suddenly remove the traumatic images that weighted down on his mind, they could refreshen his mind, making him capable of working longer or fighting longer and hold his concentration again and again after each level up, however the core trauma and memories that he had gained wouldn't lose any of their effect, those were things that he had to learn to overcome on his own.
'On one side, I kind of wish that the system did do that, that it did make me feel nothing about scenes like that but then on the other side, if the system influenced even my mind and my responses to images and events and even memories that I have, would I even be me anymore or would I just be a puppet created by the system that couldn't even make decisions about himself since my mind would have clearly been manipulated.' Alan thought, a slight shiver running through his body at the idea, it was a terrifying thought, and one that he almost believed had already happened, the system had afterall let him adjust his intelligence stat and that was clearly related to his mind, what if he had already changed from the real Alan, what if he wasn't even himself anymore but rather just another creation of the system just like the baseball bat and the monsters were.
'Dont… just don't think about it. There's nothing I can do at this point. I just need to get stronger, finish dungeons, level up, so that I can both survive better in these damned dungeons and more importantly in real life. I've already learned theres supernatural shit going on that I never knew was there before this system showed up. I've already gotten entangled in shit that I really don't even want to think about. I don't have a choice now do I? No… I guess I do, I could just leave it all behind… but should I?' He thought before releasing one final sigh that showed just how tired he was, mentally of everything that had gone on for the past few days.
Shaking his head slowly, his eyes refocused as he noticed movement just slightly ahead of his current position, gripping his makeship spear in his hand tightly, he looked directly at the slime that was slowly crawling up the side wall of the alley and thrust forward, the spear piercing through the air with a whooshing sound and spearing directly through yet another slime glass core.
'No… I don't want to. I… this is an opportunity that people would kill for… even if its dangerous, even if im fucking terrified of everything. I don't want to just give up. Though… these fucking special stats are a fucking joke. Luck at maximum my ass, how the hell was I lucky, I havn't been lucky even god damn once in the entirety of these three days.' Alan thought as he gritted his teeth, his will reigniting itself.
