Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: Different Sides

I Have An Infinite Cultivation Resource

Chapter 61: Different Sides

Zeng Yan didn't even have time to say goodbye to Lu You before Bai Zihua and the disciples of the Law Enforcement Hall escorted her to the Sword Tomb.

The Sword Tomb was the burial ground of the sword cultivators of Verdant Cloud Sect. Everywhere there were withered trees and ancient graves, giving the place a bleak and desolate atmosphere.

Some of the graves had existed for nearly a thousand years; even their tombstones had long been weathered away by the wind.

The cultivators buried here had not died fighting for Verdant Cloud Sect. Those who sacrificed themselves for the sect were buried on Changqing Mountain instead.

Most of the people in the Sword Tomb were cultivators who had simply exhausted their lifespan and passed away while meditating.

Because of that, the place had never been cleaned. Cultivators who pursued immortality considered it unlucky, and in the end the sect used it as a place to punish disciples who had committed minor mistakes.

Facing countless bones and graves, anyone would feel a sense of desolation. For those pursuing immortality, seeing the remains of predecessors who had died after exhausting their lifespans made them reflect even more deeply on whether they were wasting their own talent and time.

Thus, the Sword Tomb was also called Cliff of Reflection.

"Junior Sister, no one lives on this mountain. You can carve out a cave dwelling wherever you like," Bai Zihua said, his tone somewhat gentler.

He took out a bottle of Qi-Nourishing Pills from his storage artifact.

"I still have some pills left. Junior Sister can take these for cultivation."

"Thank you for the kindness, Senior Brother," Zeng Yan replied calmly, without reaching out to take them.

"I'm about to enter seclusion to attempt a breakthrough to Foundation Establishment, so I don't actually need Qi-Nourishing Pills anymore. It would be a waste to take your pills."

With a swift movement, she leapt into the gloomy forest of graves.

"Junior Sister, I've already brought them here. If you don't take them, these pills might end up ruined by insects and rodents."

Bai Zihua stood at the mountain entrance, gazing at Zeng Yan's departing figure for a moment. Then he gently placed the bottle of pills in a conspicuous spot before leading the other Law Enforcement Hall disciples away.

Hearing Bai Zihua's voice, Zeng Yan sped up even more, completely ignoring his words.

Using spiritual energy to push aside branches along the way, she continued forward until she reached a small stream, where she finally stopped.

"I'll stay here for now."

Using her palm like a sword, Zeng Yan quickly chopped down several tree trunks and fashioned a crude wooden hut.

"If Junior Brother were here, it would be better," she muttered with a faint smile as she looked at the oddly shaped structure she had built.

Back when they were working in the spiritual fields, Lu You had demonstrated some basic talismans. If he were here, he could have used a Wind Talisman to clear the ground and a Hard Metal Talisman to reinforce the wooden posts.

No matter what, they could have built a proper house—unlike the crooked one she had made herself.

Entering the hut, Zeng Yan sat cross-legged and took out the pill bottles that Lu You had insisted on returning to her.

Breaking through to Foundation Establishment required pills. She simply didn't want Bai Zihua's pills.

Previously, she had thought that treasured artifact was a reward she earned in the ancient tomb. But now… she didn't even want that sword anymore.

"Only two bottles of Qi-Nourishing Pills. I'll just have to polish my cultivation slowly."

Zeng Yan had indeed robbed Huang Wen's belongings, but she hadn't gained much.

Huang Wen's storage ring had been protected by a restriction. Once its owner died, the ring automatically destroyed itself.

Zeng Yan had only managed to take the two bottles of pills Huang Wen kept beside her bed for cultivation.

Originally, she had planned to give them to Lu You, but he had stubbornly forced them back into her hands.

"The outer sect really does toughen people up. He used to be so timid, and now he even dares to grab my hand."

Thinking back to how Lu You had stepped forward to accuse Zhou Lei and firmly pushed the pills back into her hand, Zeng Yan felt an indescribable sense of satisfaction.

It felt even better than killing Huang Wen.

A faint smile appeared at the corner of her lips as she opened one of the pill bottles.

Just as she was about to swallow a pill, she suddenly froze.

Suspicious, she sniffed the pills and then poured them into her palm to examine them.

Her eyes filled with disbelief.

"How is this possible… this bottle is full of Foundation Establishment Pills!"

She hurriedly grabbed the other bottle and opened it.

Inside was another bottle filled to the brim with Foundation Establishment Pills.

A bottle that should only hold ten Qi-Nourishing Pills had somehow been stuffed with fifteen Foundation Establishment Pills by Lu You.

Two bottles together—thirty Foundation Establishment Pills in total.

"Where did he get so many pills?"

Zeng Yan's breathing stopped for a moment, and her heart suddenly tightened.

Could her junior brother have gotten himself into trouble?

But the next moment, another thought struck her.

"When did he switch the pills?"

These bottles were the same ones she had given to Lu You.

Yet somehow he had replaced the pills inside them—and she hadn't noticed a single thing.

Zeng Yan quickly understood Lu You's intention.

"Looks like I underestimated my junior brother."

The reason Lu You hadn't openly given her the pills but had secretly replaced them was not only because he feared she would refuse them, it was also his way of telling her something.

If even she hadn't noticed the exchange, then she didn't need to worry about him being bullied.

"Is my talent really that poor? Do I need thirty Foundation Establishment Pills just to break through?"

After calming down, Zeng Yan looked at the number of pills again, her eyes narrowing dangerously.

"You little brat… once I reach Foundation Establishment, I'll personally check your swordsmanship."

. . .

In the Earth District, Lu You had just focused all his concentration on controlling Zhou Lei. For a moment he hadn't paid attention to Zeng Yan, and by the time he finished the puppet technique, she had already been taken away.

"Zeng Yan has already been escorted to the Sword Tomb by the Law Enforcement Hall."

Han Tian walked over and handed Lu You a communication talisman.

"You did well just now—very brave. This is my communication talisman. If Zhou Lei causes you trouble in the future, contact me."

"Thank you for your kindness, Senior Brother, but that won't be necessary." Lu You politely refused.

"Senior Brother Zhou is just greedy for money. If I don't have any money, he naturally won't waste time on me. There's no need for me to become enemies with him."

In truth, Han Tian had once suspected him of being Dongfang Bubai. Who knew what tricks might be hidden in that talisman?

What if it was some kind of listening device?

Without lingering or continuing the polite conversation, Lu You quietly made his way to the Earth District cafeteria.

He took out some spirit stones and bought several delicate pastries.

At that moment everyone's attention was still focused on the earlier incident, so no one noticed that Lu You—an outer disciple from the Human District—seemed to have quite a bit of money and had come to spend it in the Earth District.

Taking advantage of the lack of attention, Lu You bought the pastries and quickly returned home.

The moment he stepped through the door, Lu Xiao'e was already standing there blocking the entrance, looking bright and cheerful.

"Well? Did you recognize my voice? Hmph! I was the one who led everyone in shouting to support you earlier."

Seeing her smiling face, Lu You's mood brightened as well.

Following her lead, he frowned as if recalling something, then suddenly realized.

"Oh, so that ugly crying voice was yours."

"I—bah!"

Lu Xiao'e's delighted expression instantly changed. She lunged at Lu You with bared teeth and claws.

"You heartless brute! Your aunt here helped you and your little lover seek justice, and you say my voice sounds ugly?!"

She grabbed Lu You by the ear, leaning her red lips close to his earlobe and deliberately shouting:

"Does my voice sound good or not? GOOD OR NOT?!"

"Hmm? What smells so good?"

Just as she was about to continue venting her anger, Lu Xiao'e suddenly sniffed the air.

Lu You produced a delicate box as if performing a magic trick. Inside were six small dishes of freshly made pastries.

Lu You placed the pastries on the table and opened the lid.

"Mm, pastries from the Earth District really do smell great. I bought them for my young and beautiful junior sister to try."

"But where did my junior sister go? Why is there only an old, domineering aunt in the room?"

Lu Xiao'e burst out laughing.

She placed her hands on her hips and raised her chin proudly.

"Hmph! You think a mere box of pastries can buy me off? Your aunt here isn't interested."

But the very next second, she smiled brightly and hurried over with quick steps.

"Senior Brother~~ Your aunt may not care… but your young and beautiful junior sister loves to eat."
