Chapter 1 - The shared umbrella

Characters:

Leo: Outgoing, athletic, but secretly shy about his feelings.

Sora: Quiet, observant, and always carries a book.

Scene 1: School Entrance – Afternoon

Setting: It's pouring rain. Students are huddled under the school awning, waiting for the rain to stop.

[Action]: Sora stands near the edge of the awning, looking at the rain with a small sigh. He doesn't have an umbrella. Leo walks up behind him, holding a bright blue umbrella.

Leo: (Nervously rubbing the back of his neck) Hey, Sora. Forgot yours again?

Sora: (Startled, looking up) Oh, Leo. Yeah... I didn't think it would rain today.

Leo: (Opening the umbrella with a snap) Well, I'm heading to the station. It's a long walk. Want to share?

Sora: (Blushing slightly) Are you sure? It's kind of small. You'll get wet.

Leo: (Grinning) Don't worry about it. Just stay close.

Scene 2: The Sidewalk – Continuous

Setting: The two are walking down a rain-slicked street. The sound of rain on the umbrella is loud.

[Action]: They are walking very close to stay dry. Their shoulders keep brushing. Leo is holding the umbrella more over Sora than himself; his left shoulder is getting soaked.

Sora: (Noticing Leo's wet shoulder) Leo! You're getting drenched. Move the umbrella over.

Leo: (Quickly) No, it's fine! Really!

Sora: (Reaches up and pulls Leo's hand toward the center) Don't be stubborn. Look, now we're both covered.

[Action]: Their hands momentarily touch on the umbrella handle. Both freeze for a second, then look away, blushing deeply.

Leo was the kind of boy who lived in the back corners of the school library, hidden behind stacks of old history books. He liked the quiet. Liam, on the other hand, was a whirlwind—a varsity track runner who usually only entered the library to find a quiet place to nap.

One Tuesday, Leo found a scrap of paper tucked into his favorite copy of The Great Gatsby. It wasn't a bookmark; it was a drawing of a small, sleepy turtle with the words: "This book is long. Good luck."

One afternoon, Leo arrived at the shelf and found a note that looked different. It was just a time and a place: "School garden, 4:00 PM. I want to see if you're as smart as your notes."

Heart racing, Leo went. Standing by the rosebushes was Liam, looking nervous and holding a single, slightly wilted daisy.

You're the Gatsby guy?" Liam asked, his usual confidence replaced by a shy grin.

Leo nodded, breathless. "And you're the turtle artist?"

Liam laughed, stepping closer. "I'm not much of an artist, but I'm a really good listener."

They spent the rest of the evening talking—not through ink and paper, but face-to-face. As the sun set, Liam reached out and tentatively took Leo's hand. The library might have been Leo's favorite place, but standing there with Liam, he realized he'd finally found a story of his own.
