Chapter 122 - The Guardian

"Move," the Captain shouted as a second red circle closed beneath another knight.

The man threw himself sideways, but the rune detonated before his shoulder touched the ground.

Red light tore him apart and threw whatever remained across the center of the buried street.

Three knights broke formation at once and scattered toward separate stretches of the ruins.

"Hold the line," the Captain ordered while four amber Shards appeared around his wrist. "Running only gives the traps more feet to choose from."

A thin red mark began tracing itself beneath Hajin while sparks chased the unfinished circle.

He lunged clear as the street erupted, then rolled through falling grit with heat scraping the back of his coat.

'The marks form before every blast, so something has to be drawing them.'

Divine Eye opened with a cold ache behind both of Hajin's eyes.

Color drained from the ruins until the broken village became a gray field crossed by hundreds of red mana threads.
