"You can do that absorbing thing with your chain again, right," she asked, casually tilting her head at him. She pointed a finger at the links wrapped around his arm, her expression perfectly relaxed despite the collapsing dimension.
The casual question dragged Hajin's mind straight back to the suffocating pressure of the Beast King's dungeon. The two presences watching him back then were undeniably Cessy and her quiet partner.
Before he could even open his mouth to answer, the air above them split with a deafening crack. The boss materialized out of the static, driving a condensed spear of mana straight down toward their heads.
