Chapter 56 - Chapter 55: Planning Around the Devil Fruit

"What would we even need that kind of brat for? Though, since he's Garp's disciple, maybe there's something special about his body."

A rough voice came from the Den Den Mushi.

Doflamingo held the Den Den Mushi, his fingertips lightly tapping against the edge of the table.

After capturing Garp's disciple, Koby, he had already ordered one of his transport ships to set sail.

Koby had been locked in the lowest level of the cargo hold, fitted with Seastone shackles, and the ship's route was aimed straight toward Wano.

He did not have the courage to contact Kaido directly.

Instead, he had connected to the private channel of one of the Beast Pirates' officers and continued speaking.

"That is the situation. Aside from that brat, I've also found a Zoan Devil Fruit user on my end. My subordinates have already made contact with him, Kaido should be willing to meet him."

A reply came from the other end of the Den Den Mushi.

"Got it, send that brat over first. We're short on laborers for the mines here anyway! I've still got plenty of 'sweets' here. With that body of his, he shouldn't get killed by the 'sweets,' right? Hahahaha!! But you need to hurry up with recruiting ability users. If it really comes down to it, go personally. Otherwise, even I won't be able to keep Kaido calm…"

The laughter came through the Den Den Mushi with a rough, grating quality.

"Then I'll trouble you to report this to Kaido, Queen. Fufufufufufufufu!!"

Doflamingo let out his signature laugh and hung up the Den Den Mushi.

He stood up and looked beyond the royal palace.

"That guy Bellamy… I remember he's nearby too, isn't he?"

After pondering for a moment, he turned and walked out of the hall.

"Forget it. I'll make the trip myself."

Cain still had no idea about this new variable.

At this very moment, out on the sea, the Four Emperors officer Katakuri, the Warlord Doflamingo, and Marine Hero Garp had all set their sights on the Straw Hat Pirates.

After hanging up the call with Garp, Cain was still thinking about having him come pick up Ace, hide him away, and beat some sense into that impulsive personality of his.

But just then, the Revolutionary Army Den Den Mushi sitting on the corner of the table in his room suddenly began to vibrate with a "purururu."

"Pururururu…"

The moment the call connected, a familiar voice had just started speaking.

"You there? Is this Cain? I'm Sa—"

Cain's pupils suddenly shrank.

His finger almost instinctively cut off the call.

He first glanced outside the room. Seeing Ace sprawled lazily on the deck, sunbathing without even lifting an eyelid, clearly not paying the slightest attention to the movement on this side, Cain finally let out a quick breath of relief.

Right now, he did not want Ace to know Sabo was still alive.

That guy's obsession with chasing Blackbeard still had not been eliminated.

If he found out Sabo was still alive on top of that, who knew what kind of stubborn mess he would stir up? And if Luffy found out too, things would become even more chaotic!

Cain took a deep breath.

Thinking that the Revolutionary Army might have other things to discuss with him, he dialed back.

This time, the voice on the other end of the Den Den Mushi had changed to Dragon's steady tone, and Cain finally relaxed.

"Cain, did something happen?"

"No, nothing."

Cain deliberately kept his voice calm.

"That's good."

Dragon changed the topic and got straight to the point.

"I saw what you did in Alabasta. Although all the credit was given to that Marine captain, I know very well that the ones who truly solved the problem were all of you. You did well."

"I didn't do anything."

Cain shook his head, his tone honest.

"That was all Luffy's accomplishment."

Dragon did not linger too much on that topic and continued,

"But what I wanted to say is this. Many years ago, I picked up a child in the Goa Kingdom named Sabo, he had lost his memories of the past at the time, and with the things you mentioned before…"

"So he's the Sabo I know?"

Cain asked at the right moment, pretending to sound surprised.

"Yes. Do you want him to speak with you for a bit?" Dragon asked.

"No."

After a long moment of thought, Cain refused.

"We're brothers! Words for a reunion should be saved for when we meet in person."

"Mm. I'll have him find time to meet you all… This call was mainly about Sabo. We're all very happy that he was able to remember his past," Dragon said.

"Mm. I understand."

Cain's tone suddenly shifted, becoming more serious.

"However, I need you to send someone over. Preferably someone who can fly through the air."

"What is it? Is there something you need the Revolutionary Army to handle?" Dragon asked in confusion.

Cain explained,

"I know you've always hated that whole system of tyrant exploiting and oppressing people. But filth like that doesn't only exist on this sea. Even deep in the sky, among the seas of clouds, the same kind of thing is happening there."

"You mean the legendary sky islands?" Dragon immediately asked.

"That's right," Cain replied.

"In the first half of the Grand Line, there is a sky island with someone who possesses the power of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit. He relies on that power to proclaim himself a god, occupies other people's land, enslaves the locals, and treats all living beings there like ants. Anyone who disobeys him is punished with lightning."

"You want us to deal with him and liberate that place?" Dragon asked.

"No."

Cain denied it.

"He will be Luffy's target at his next stop. Luffy's rubber body insulates him from lightning, so those attacks won't be able to hurt him at all."

"You can take over the sky island after Luffy defeats him. But what I want you to do is seize the power of his Rumble-Rumble Fruit."

"The power of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit…" Dragon's voice paused slightly.

Clearly, he understood the value of that fruit as well.

"I want you to give that power to Sabo," Cain said directly.

"You know Dr. Vegapunk, right? His research into Devil Fruits is best, he should know how to extract a Devil Fruit ability."

He added, "That guy believes he has the right to possess everything, including life and land. He doesn't care about other people's lives or the land they need to survive. In his understanding, fear makes living beings bow their heads to nature."

"Since he calls himself a god, then 'fear' is the true definition of god, and 'despair' is the only way to save this world. Isn't someone like that exactly the kind of target the Revolutionary Army should be bringing down? Even if you take his ability, there shouldn't be any guilt about it."

"Is that so? I understand," Dragon replied in a deep voice.

After hanging up, Cain walked out of his room and looked toward the rolling sea in the distance.

He knew very well that the Flame-Flame Fruit was supposed to become a major source of strength for Sabo in the future.

But in this life, he would absolutely never let Ace die.

In that case, he could only find another suitable fruit for Sabo.

If he wanted a Logia fruit that suited Sabo's fighting style, had tremendous power, and offered extreme speed, then the Rumble-Rumble Fruit was undoubtedly the best choice for Sabo.

Cain did not believe that simply placing a random fruit beside a dead ability user would be enough to complete the transfer of a Devil Fruit ability.

Blackbeard's actions during the Summit War at Marineford alone were nowhere near enough to determine the exact method of transferring an ability.

And on this sea, the person with the deepest research into Devil Fruits was naturally none other than Vegapunk.

Dragon's side should also know Vegapunk's whereabouts.

After all, Bartholomew Kuma had only met that genius scientist through Dragon's introduction.

Regardless of whether Blackbeard relied on some special ability or some crude trick to obtain Devil Fruit powers, as long as Vegapunk took action, he would definitely be able to extract the Rumble-Rumble Fruit's ability and place it into Sabo's hands.
