Chapter 65 - Thousand Birds Chirp, the Silence of the Monsters

The ruins of Arlong Park trembled as two clashing killing intents sparked in the heavy air.

"Shahahahaha... you actually dare to destroy my paradise..." Arlong sat upon his high throne, looking down at the Straw Hat crew.

His malicious shark-eyes held no fear; instead, they were filled with the explosive rage of a tyrant whose pride had been insulted. "Since you're all in such a hurry to die, I'll be happy to oblige!"

He swung a massive, palm-frond-sized hand, barking a cruel command to the swarming fishman lackeys below: "Men! Show these lower-class species the true terror of the fishmen! Tear them to shreds!!"

"ORRRRRAAAA!! KILL THE HUMANS!!"

With a deafening roar, nearly a hundred fishmen armed with scimitars and spears surged forward like a blue tide, frantically rushing toward the group of five.

"ARLONG!!" Luffy's eyes were locked solely on the shark-man at the apex. He roared, staying low as he prepared to charge straight through.

However, the sheer number of fishmen was staggering. Layers upon layers of defense instantly blocked Luffy's path.

"Tch, how annoying." Zoro's hand moved to his hilt, preparing to draw.

"Step aside, Marimo. I'll clear out these stinking fish." Sanji spat out his cigarette, ready to kick a path open.

"Don't bother." A calm voice rang out.

Viktor took a step forward, shielding his comrades. His back was to Luffy, his black hair fluttering in the wind.

His voice was flat, yet it carried a confidence that brought immediate peace of mind. "Luffy, leave these small fry to me. Just keep moving forward and knock that shark bastard flying."

"As for the officers in the back... leave them to Zoro and Sanji."

Luffy looked at Viktor's back and didn't hesitate for a second. He grinned widely. "Got it! I'm counting on you, Viktor!"

Using the elasticity of his rubber body, Luffy leaped high into the air, kicking off the walls of the surrounding buildings to vault over the sea of enemies, lunging straight for Arlong.

Simultaneously, Viktor didn't draw his sword. Instead, he dove into the surging enemy ranks bare-handed.

"Kill him!! This arrogant human!" A dozen powerful fishmen grinned, swinging their weapons from all directions to cleave Viktor apart.

Hum—

In that split second, Viktor's black eyes transformed into the crimson two-tomoe Sharingan. The world slowed down in his vision.

The fishmen's attacks—touted as having ten times the strength of a human—were riddled with openings under the dynamic vision of the Sharingan, looking like a slow-motion playback.

"Too slow."

Viktor moved like a ghost dancing on the edge of a blade. A tilt of the body, a duck of the head, a sliding step. He dodged every lethal tooth and heavy fist with hair's-breadth precision, looking utterly composed.

Then, his chakra exploded, adhering to his palms. Viktor precisely caught the wrist of the most aggressive fishman, using the suction of the chakra to swing the massive creature in a wide arc. He used the fishman like a giant living club, slamming him into the surrounding enemies.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

A series of dull thuds echoed as a dozen fishmen were knocked over like bowling pins.

"Dammit! This guy is slippery as an eel!" "Surround him! Don't let him move!"

Seeing that individual combat was useless, the fishmen began to shrink their circle, attempting to crush Viktor with sheer numbers.

"Outnumbering me?" The corner of Viktor's mouth twitched upward. His hands instantly formed a cross-sign. "Ninja Art: Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

Poof! Poof!

Accompanied by two clouds of white smoke, two identical Viktors appeared out of thin air. The three Viktors stood back-to-back in a triangular formation.

"Is that... a Devil Fruit power?!" The surrounding fishmen were stunned.

"I'm not done yet."

The three Viktors raised their hands simultaneously. Several shuriken danced at their fingertips, each connected to nearly invisible chakra-infused steel wires.

Swish-swish-swish—

The shuriken were hurled into the crowd, weaving through the fishmen. The wires acted like invisible scythes, instantly binding dozens of fishmen into a tangled mass.

Next: "Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!!"

The three Viktors spat out multiple fireballs shaped like phoenix flower seeds. The flames raced along the steel wires, turning the trapped fishmen into a row of screaming, burning torches.

"AAAGH! IT BURNS! WATER! GET TO THE WATER!!" Screams rose one after another as the smell of charred scales filled the air.

"Caw! Don't forget about the Great Klay!!" In the sky, the black crow circled excitedly, opening his beak to launch a sonic attack on the chaotic crowd below. "NOISE BOMB!! —!!!"

"My ears! My ears! That damn bird!!" The fishmen clutched their ears, collapsing in pain.

Just then, a roar erupted. "ENOUGH!! Put these tricks away!!"

A fishman elite, significantly larger than the others, charged through the wall of fire. He held a massive zanbato high with both hands, swinging it down with enough force to split a mountain, aiming for Viktor's original body while he was still recovering from the jutsu. "DIE!!"

However, Viktor snapped his head around. The tomoe in his crimson pupils spun wildly, glowing with a fierce light. Their eyes met.

"Genjutsu: Shackling Stakes!"

Boom!

From the fishman leader's perspective, the world collapsed into a hopeless blood-red. He found his body completely paralyzed. Then, several massive, rusted iron spikes appeared out of thin air, piercing his limbs with a grinding screech, pinning him into the void.

"AAAAAAAAAGH—!!!"

The agonizing pain from the depths of his soul caused him to let out a silent wail. To the outside observers, the aggressive fishman had simply frozen in place just before his blade hit Viktor. He stood like a statue, eyes empty and terrified, drenched in cold sweat.

Viktor reached out expressionlessly, easily taking the zanbato from his hands. With a reverse swing—Splurt.

Blood sprayed, and the massive fishman collapsed. The battlefield went silent for a single heart-stopping second.

After this dazzling display of "Ninja Testing," the once-dense fishman army had been halved. The remaining dozens looked at the red-eyed youth with deep, unmasked terror, involuntarily backing away.

"Warm-up is over." Viktor shook his hand, feeling the power within his body. "Chakra consumption is within expectations. Now... let's try that."

He backed up a few steps, his left hand gripping his right wrist, palm facing downward. The massive lightning-natured chakra within him began to compress and condense into his palm frantically.

Sizzle... crackle...

Blue-white lightning arcs began to dance. The air grew scorched. Then:

CHIRP-CHIRP-CHIRP-CHIRP—!!!

A piercing, shrill sound, like the cry of ten thousand birds, echoed through the entirety of Arlong Park. Even Luffy and Arlong, facing off at the top of the building, couldn't help but look down.

"What... is that sound?!"

Viktor lowered his center of gravity. His Sharingan locked onto the group of trembling fishmen huddled together.

"Small fry should have the awareness of small fry."

"Lightning Style: Chidori!!"

Boom!

The stone tiles beneath him shattered. Viktor's silhouette vanished, replaced by a terrifying bolt of lightning that the naked eye couldn't track! It was the pinnacle of speed and piercing power!

Flash—!!!

The lightning tore through the dense formation of the remaining fishmen. There was no resistance. Whether it was hard fish scales or blocking steel blades, everything was as fragile as tofu before the hand encased in high-intensity electricity.

When the thunder subsided, Viktor appeared at the rear of the enemy formation, still in his thrusting stance, the lightning on his hand slowly dissipating.

Behind him, dozens of fishmen stood frozen. A few seconds later—Psh-psh-psh-psh—!!

Their weapons snapped, and neat gashes exploded across their bodies. Blood sprayed like fountains as they collapsed in unison.

"He's... a monster..." one of the few surviving fishmen gasped, collapsing in fear.

"Moo! Moo-moo!"

Suddenly, the nearby pool exploded. Arlong's sea beast, Momoo, had been forcibly ordered out to help. The giant sea beast poked its head out, intending to show some authority. But it immediately locked eyes with the black-haired man standing amidst the sea of blood and corpses, with faint arcs of electricity still dancing around him.

The terror of being dominated instantly awakened its muscle memory.

"Sizzle..." Viktor turned his head, giving it a cold look.

"MOOO-HOOO!!"

Momoo's eyes rolled back in fright. Before Viktor could even move, it performed a sudden tail-swipe—Whack!! Its massive tail sent several Arlong Pirate officers flying into the distance—officers who were trying to sneak up on Sanji—all to show its new loyalty. Then, the giant beast scurried to a corner, buried its head in the water, and stuck its rear up to play dead.

"..."

The field went quiet. Viktor dispersed his chakra and clapped his hands, looking back at his nakama. "Alright, area cleared."

By now, the battlefield was clearly divided. Zoro unwrapped the bandana from his arm, tied it around his head, and drew his three blades as he faced the six-sword style Hachi. "Hey, octopus. Let's see who has more blades."

Sanji straightened his tie, blocking Kuroobi, the Fishman Karate master trying to interfere with Luffy. His eyes were icy. "Fishman Karate? I'll show you the kicking techniques of a chef from hell."

Usopp, though hiding behind a pillar, had his slingshot aimed at the distant Chew. "Take this! Special Attack: Fire Star!"

And atop the highest building, Luffy cracked his knuckles, his eyes locked onto Arlong sitting on his throne.

"Next... it's your turn!!"

"Give me back... Nami's tears!!"
