The robot swiped the ID card to the room, "This is the evaluation room." Kai thanked XO before he walked in. There were a couple of instructors in the room, and he saw the reinforced observation booth. The first was a tall man with a stocky build, his hairline fading with a strong jaw. "We start in 10, son." He nodded as he felt no one cared about him, but everyone was here to watch him.
He started to stretch a bit just in case, but he didn't know what to expect; no one spoke to him. The time passed, and that's when the massive instructor walked over to follow me. It was empty as he led to a scale, he stepped on slowly as the numbers shot through, "150 pounds."
The instructor shook his head. This kid has some really brittle bones. Then Kai stepped off, and the man gestured indifferently to the wall with numbers on it. His height... Five Foot Nine Inches. He was tall for a 14-year-old boy; however, not insanely big. The instructor then led him to a 40-yard track, "Choose whatever stance and don't slow down until you cross the line, not when you're about to cross it."
He lined up and leaned forward in a two-point stance and exploded; he could feel the cold wind slapping against his face. He flew, 5.89. "That good?" The instructor looked at him with disgust, "Terrible." He then walked over to the vertical jump pad, "Squat down about just above knee flexion quickly, then explode up even faster and use your arms."
Kai followed his advice and hit a solid 23.5" inches. The instructor nodded as the people in the booth saw the pure numbers, unathletic as hell. A lot of them groaned as the man started to lead the recruit to the next area. There sat a pretty lady with long pink hair with red ends and a cap, "Hi!" The instructor said way too excitedly, this had to be the magic proportion, "Hi...?" Kai said as he finally got up.
She grabbed his hand and pulled him towards a machine before pushing him in; the door slammed behind him. It scanned his DNA, potential, blood type, lineage, and body fat and which of the 8 fundamentals he had unlocked. He came out drained and gasping, yet the people in the booth looked more disinterested as the tests went on.
He was finally finished an hour later, and he stood as the head instructor took a mic from the booth, "Kai. Your assessment is over. The scores rounded out to an E+. That is not good. You will train with the general magics for the first years, you will not receive a personal instructor, you will have no leeway in your first year and remember this is a 'what have you done for me lately' academy."
He wasn't being trained. He was being measured for usefulness
