Chapter 184 - Poison Dragon Spear, The Asura Kidney Awakens

Chapter 184: Poison Dragon Spear, The Asura Kidney Awakens

The night wind swept across the desolate hill, bending the tall grass into rippling silver waves under the moonlight.

Kobe Hikaru sat perfectly still, his legs crossed in deep meditation. The dark, wicked blade of Muramasa rested horizontally across his knees, a silent companion in the dark.

His Crimson Demon Eyes slid shut. Hikaru let his consciousness sink, plunging into an unmatched, abyssal depth within his own mind. The fragmented sword techniques he had absorbed from the seventeen dojos began to spin. They dismantled and reorganized in the dark void of his thoughts. Layer by layer, the flashy outer shells of the techniques were mercilessly stripped away, leaving behind only the raw, brutal, common skeleton of the killing arts.

Conviction.

When a warrior's absolute conviction condensed upon the razor edge of a blade, it birthed Sword Intent.

Yet, the legendary sword saint Kamiizumi Nobutsuna had taken a different path. The man had emptied his conviction entirely, reaching a state where the wielder and the blade were indistinguishable. His intent was a perfect void—empty, yet that very emptiness stood as a terrifying conviction of its own.

Hikaru, however, had no desire to be empty.

He wanted to fill that void.

He intended to fill it until it overflowed, forging himself into a vessel capable of holding absolute slaughter and unyielding survival.

This deep realization surged from the deepest recesses of his mind. It spread outward along his neural pathways, carrying with it an exceptionally faint, yet undeniably pure essence—clear qi.

Yes, clear qi.

Upon the grotesque, demonic flesh of an undead yokai, the pure, spiritual energy that only human cultivators could naturally comprehend had manifested.

It was incredibly faint, a whisper of mist floating barely half an inch above his pale skin. It did not merge with the heavy, demonic Turbid Qi churning within his veins, nor did the dark energy naturally repel it.

This phenomenon was a direct result of his human soul—the stubborn remnant of his past life as a transmigrator—being violently stimulated by the birth of his Sword Intent.

The demonic Turbid Qi served as the physical vessel, while the human clear qi acted as the guiding function.

Two fundamentally opposing forces had discovered a bizarre, delicate equilibrium within his undead frame.

This was the raw prototype of his Sword Intent.

It remained incredibly weak, perhaps too fragile to cleanly sever the neck of even a low-level imp.

But the trajectory was flawless.

It was done.

At the exact moment this clear qi stabilized, a localized eruption of energy detonated against his chest.

The Venomous Flood Dragon Reverse Scale.

Pressed tightly against his sternum, the dark green scale began to emit a blinding, ink-green luminescence from its jagged edges. The sheer intensity of the light eclipsed any reaction he had ever witnessed from a mere favorability increase.

This was no gradual shift. It was a violent mutation.

It felt as though an ancient, venomous serpent, having lain dormant for centuries, finally saw its prey step into striking distance—and snapped its jaws shut.

The familiar blue panel flashed into his vision.

[Venomous Flood Dragon Reverse Scale: Favorability +4]

[Current Favorability: 100 (Unity)]

[All talents can now be integrated into the host.]

Hikaru's consciousness was violently yanked back to the physical realm.

One hundred.

His crimson eyes snapped open. He looked down at his chest.

The ink-green radiance of the Reverse Scale was actively melting into his flesh. It phased through his pale skin, bypassed the dense muscle fibers, and traveled downward along his major blood vessels.

It was heading straight for his waist.

Specifically, it was targeting the foundational core of his Spear-Waist Transformation.

Among his Six Transformations, the Spear-Waist Transformation had always been the most silent, the least flashy.

Yet, it was arguably the most critical.

The Archer Transformation granted him terrifying arm strength and precise control. The Sharp Body Transformation provided explosive speed. The Bone Soul Transformation weaponized his skeleton into lethal, defensive spikes. The Sharp Eye Transformation gifted him dynamic, slow-motion vision. The Blood Transformation ensured unnatural perception and rapid regeneration.

The Spear-Waist Transformation appeared to offer nothing tangible. But in truth, it was the absolute anchor.

It provided structural support.

The waist is the pillar of the human body. The spear is the root of the strike.

The Spear-Waist Transformation bestowed absolute stability. Every ounce of kinetic force generated by the other transformations ultimately had to be channeled through the waist, acting much like the rigid shaft of a spear.

It was the supreme conduit of transmission.

As the martial proverb dictated: force rises from the earth and originates from the waist.

Without it, his externalized bone spikes would shatter under their own torque, and his explosive speed would tear his own ligaments apart.

And now, the primordial poison of the Venomous Flood Dragon was aggressively seeping into this vital conduit.

Merging.

The Venomous Flood Dragon was a terrifying aquatic beast, born in the crushing pressure of the abyss and dwelling in highly toxic, miasmic marshes.

Its Reverse Scale was the hardest, yet paradoxically the softest part of its anatomy—impervious to legendary blades, yet sensitive enough to detect the microscopic shifts in water currents.

The essence housed within this scale was 'poison in the water,'but equally,'medicine in the water.'

Every medicine harbors a fraction of poison, and every deadly toxin holds the potential to heal.

This was the absolute nature of water.

And within the ancient cycle of the Five Elements, the kidneys governed water.

Hikaru's undead body reacted purely on instinct—or rather, the demonic engine forged by his Asura Transformation took the reins.

Deep within his chest cavity, the Asura Heart, tempered by the Blood-Fire Transformation, gave a single, thunderous beat.

A surge of dark red firelight erupted from his chest, roaring down his spinal column. It violently collided with the infiltrating, ink-green toxic gas pooling at his lumbar vertebrae.

Fire and water clashed.

Yet, they did not destroy one another.

Instead, the dark fire rose, and the heavy water sank. Each claimed its rightful domain.

The Asura Heart resided in the chest, the sovereign of fire.

The Asura Kidney would reside at the waist, the sovereign of water.

Hikaru felt a deep, resonant vibration rattle his lumbar spine.

The core of the Spear-Waist Transformation drank in the water-poison of the Reverse Scale. The conduit, previously relegated to merely passing kinetic force along, began to undergo a terrifying qualitative evolution.

It was no longer just a bridge. It became a reservoir.

Like a bottomless, abyssal well.

The aquatic nature of the Venomous Flood Dragon condensed at the base of this well, crystallizing into a dark green core that pulsed with a faint, deadly luster.

That new core was beating. With every throb, it simultaneously synthesized lethal poison and potent medicine.

It functioned exactly like a demonic kidney.

Its rhythm stood in stark contrast to the Asura Heart. Where the heart was frantic, explosive, and intense, the kidney was slow, methodical, and impossibly deep.

One fast, one slow. One high, one low.

The dual rhythm of fire and water established the very first true internal cycle within his undead anatomy.

The architecture of his Asura Transformation had evolved from a solitary, overworked engine into a harmonious intersection of heart and kidney.

Water and fire in perfect equilibrium.

Hikaru hadn't consciously engineered this miracle.

It was the culmination of sheer survival instinct.

The theoretical path he had deduced back in Totosai's sweltering volcanic forge—using Ten Transformations to forge the Five Viscera, and filling them with the Five Elements—had just naturally taken its second monumental step.

The first step had been the blacksmith hammer's fire returning to the heart.

The second step was the Reverse Scale's water returning to the kidney.

The Spear-Waist Transformation had been completely rewritten.

With poison and water saturating his lumbar core, the transformation evolved from a simple kinetic conduit into a dual-core reactor, capable of hoarding immense physical power while simultaneously deploying venom or healing agents.

This was the Venomous Flood Dragon Spear-Waist Transformation.

'Heaven gives birth to water.'The ancient phrase drifted into Hikaru's mind, unbidden.'Heaven gives birth to water, Earth completes it with six.'

These were the esoteric numbers of the Hetu Luoshu, a deep cosmological text passed down from the massive continent across the sea.

He was literally using an ancient, philosophical framework from his past life to architect the internal circulation of a demonic yokai body.

Yet, it made perfect, pragmatic sense.

After all, that world was where his soul truly belonged.

With the bridge between the heart and kidneys established, the theoretical endurance of his Asura Transformation skyrocketed. The heart pumped the explosive fuel; the kidneys stored the deep reserves. Fire rose, water descended. The foundational prototype of a self-sustaining internal cycle was complete.

He was still missing three organs and three elements.

But two were infinitely better than one.

Just as he settled into the new rhythm of his body, another frantic vibration buzzed against his waist.

Yura of the Hair.

The crimson comb secured to his belt rattled violently. The frequency of its shaking was even more aggressive than the Reverse Scale's reaction when it hit maximum favorability.

But this wasn't the trembling of joy.

It was the grinding of teeth.

To be exact, it was the bitter, seething rage born of utter humiliation.

The system panel flickered to life.

[Yura of the Hair: Favorability unchanged]

[Current Favorability: 90 (Limit)]

[She is incredibly displeased. Furious, even. She firmly believes she pledged her loyalty to you long before that shattered piece of a Reverse Scale, yet she was beaten to the ultimate milestone. However, she has slammed into a psychological bottleneck. It is not a lack of effort on your part, but a fundamental truth she has yet to reconcile within herself.]

Stuck at ninety.

It was exactly like the hurdle she faced back at thirty favorability. Yura of the Hair had hit a wall that only she could break through.

The last time, Hikaru had ruthlessly introduced Muramasa as a rival, sparking her competitive jealousy and rocketing her favorability from thirty to fifty, and eventually to eighty-eight.

This time, however...

Mere competition wasn't going to cut it.

But Hikaru simply didn't have the mental bandwidth to coddle a jealous comb right now.

The comb's frantic vibrating persisted for the time it takes to drink half a cup of tea, before it finally, begrudgingly, settled down.

It felt exactly like a feral cat, fur standing on end, being forcefully pinned by the scruff of its neck—furious, but forced to accept reality for the moment.

Hikaru glanced down at the sulking comb on his belt, then shifted his gaze to his bare chest. The physical mass of the Reverse Scale had completely vanished into his flesh, leaving behind nothing but a small, dark green tattoo resembling a droplet.

Two Demonic Tools.

One had reached absolute unity. The other was stalled.

The gap was a mere ten points.

Yet, bridging those final ten points might prove more grueling than the entire journey from zero to ninety.

He didn't waste time dwelling on it.

Hikaru stood up.

The instant his leg muscles contracted, an unmatched sensation of overwhelming fullness surged from his waist. The kinetic charging of the new Venomous Flood Dragon Spear-Waist Transformation was leagues beyond the old version. His core felt like a pressurized reservoir, ready to detonate with tidal force at a moment's notice.

This evolutionary leap was a highly welcome surprise.

And what wasn't a surprise at all...

"The Sword Intent has taken its initial shape," Hikaru murmured, his voice a dry, calm rasp in the night air.

He slowly drew Muramasa from its sheath. The dark steel hummed a low, eager vibration, as if the weapon itself was undergoing a metamorphosis alongside its master.

Bathed and nourished by his newly formed Sword Intent, the blade's dormant demonic soul was finally on the verge of materializing.

Excellent.

It was a wonderfully ambitious development.

"From this night forward, I shall call you... Oboro-Onikiri."

Muramasa was merely the classification of the blade, not its true, earned name.

First, he would bestow the title of Onikiri—the Demon Cutter—as its formal name.

And eventually, Oboro... as its true demonic moniker.

But before that could happen, he needed to feed it.

The legendary Raikiri was forged by slicing through a bolt of lightning. The original Onikiri earned its name by severing the limbs of demons.

Now, it was time to go all out and carve his way to absolute perfection in a single, bloody stroke.
