Chapter 34 - You Should Just Slap Them

Jin-sensei was right; he only specialized in Wind and Water magic, so those were the only two types of spells he taught next.

Under the dumbfounded, ghost-seeing gazes of his classmates, Ren Isana easily mastered all the magic Jin-sensei taught him, even feeling a bit unsatisfied, as if he hadn't had enough.

However, this scene made Jin-sensei frown and ask, "Ren, you're almost at Tier 4, aren't you? You've used so many beginner spells, yet your Magic Power hasn't depleted at all!"

This was what surprised him the most. Ren had an absurd amount of Magic Power. He hadn't paid much attention to it at first, but seeing Ren cast so many beginner spells and act like it was nothing finally made him realize it.

"That's right, Sensei. I figure I'm getting close. I have quite a bit of Magic Power right now, so do you want to teach me some intermediate magic?" Ren rubbed his hands together, looking at Jin-sensei with a face full of anticipation.

However, faced with Ren's request, he refused. He warned Ren with utmost seriousness, "Before breaking through to Tier 4, it is best you do not learn intermediate magic!"

Hearing this, Ren froze for a moment. After pondering it briefly, he nodded. After all, there was no reason for the teacher to lie to him about this; it simply wasn't necessary.

"Intermediate magic and beginner magic are on completely different levels. Even if your Magic Power meets the standard now, you might not be able to cast it. If you force it, it will completely drain the Magic Power in your body, and that kind of depletion is irreversible." Seeing Ren nod, Jin-sensei explained the reasoning.

Why was there a rule that you had to reach Tier 4 before learning intermediate magic? There was absolutely a reason for it. Behind every strict regulation lay a history of disastrous incidents.

There were many people with enough Magic Power to cast intermediate magic, but the problem was the severe deficit it caused after being used—a deficit that was fundamentally impossible to recover from.

Therefore, whether it was a school or an individual, whenever someone broke through to Tier 4 and began learning intermediate magic, they would be strictly warned: it is forbidden to teach intermediate magic to anyone at Tier 3 or below.

Why do you think there are no magic tutorials on the internet? Why are there only various martial arts techniques and moves? Because with magic, one wrong step truly leads to a lifetime of regret.

There was no cure for regret. That was why searching for magic online would only yield basic beginner tutorials like meditation.

After Jin-sensei's explanation, Ren finally understood the underlying reasons. Many of his classmates were also hearing about this for the first time.

"If you want to learn intermediate magic, come find me after you reach Tier 4. But not right now. You're probably close anyway, so there's no need to rush it for a day or two." Jin-sensei pushed up his glasses and looked at Ren.

The progress of the boy before him was simply absurd. His speed of growing stronger was like he had turned on a cheat code. While many in the class hadn't even broken through to Tier 3, this guy was already charging toward Tier 4.

Did he not have any bottlenecks? He had truly never seen a student with such outrageous talent. All he could say was that anyone in the same generation as Ren Isana was in for a real treat!

Thinking of this, Jin-sensei looked at the spectating students and couldn't help but mutter in his heart. *Thank goodness I'm not from the same era as Ren.*

Jin-sensei didn't teach Ren anything else after that. After answering a few questions from the other students, he let everyone have free practice time to properly train with the spell, telling them to thoroughly familiarize themselves with it before considering anything else.

When the afternoon rolled around, Shizuka Hiratsuka decisively ramped up the training intensity. She started putting the class through the wringer. Under Shizuka's oppressive pressure, those who had reached their limits and were on the verge of a breakthrough successively broke through to Tier 3.

They had only been one step away to begin with. Now that Shizuka had cranked up the difficulty, if you didn't break through, you'd better be prepared to get beaten black and blue.

To force everyone to break through quickly, Shizuka directly pulled Yukino Yukinoshita and Ren Isana out to spar with the rest of the class!

Ren, naturally, was more than happy to help. Unfortunately, he was only in charge of the boys, not the girls. Otherwise, he would have been even more thrilled.

But boys would have to do. He just treated it as training his own practical combat skills. Over the course of the afternoon, Ren and his classmates bonded thoroughly—mostly by him beating them black and blue.

"If you don't want to go home black and blue, then hurry up and break through! Yukino, you're going too easy on them. You should just slap them across the face and swell their cheeks up. Under the threat of social death, they'll squeeze out their hidden potential!" Ren shouted as he sent a male classmate flying with a single punch.

He casually pointed fingers at Yukino's side of the field. Hearing Ren's words, the corners of Shizuka's mouth curled up slightly, and she voiced her strong agreement. "He's right, Yukinoshita! You're not using enough force!"

*How the hell is that the same thing?!* Yukino really wanted to swear right then, but she held it in. If she actually dared to follow Ren's advice, she guaranteed that every single one of these girls would treat her as their mortal enemy from then on.

You men might not know how petty they can be, but as a woman herself, how could Yukino not know? Girls held massive grudges!

"Mind your own business!" Yukino scoffed coldly, too lazy to bother with a guy like Ren. She continued sparring with the female student in front of her at her own pace.

The female student currently sparring with Yukino was on high alert. She was terrified that Yukino might actually suddenly slap her. If that happened, she would genuinely cry!!

Looking at the group of boys who had been beaten black and blue by Ren, the girls definitely didn't want to suffer the same treatment. Because of this, the female student's nerves were stretched to their absolute limit.

Precisely because of this high-pressure situation, she finally managed to condense her True Qi and break through to Tier 3. This scene actually took Yukino by surprise.

*Mhm, as expected, I shouldn't listen to Ren. I'll just stick to my own pace. Didn't she just break through anyway?*

After a brief exchange of blows, Yukino stopped. She looked quietly at the female student and said, "Alright, Sora-san. Congratulations on your breakthrough."

Hearing Yukino's words, the girl named Sora immediately breathed a sigh of relief. She thanked Yukino and then stepped down.

Next up was another female student. As Sora walked past her, she couldn't help but whisper, "Be careful. I suspect Yukinoshita actually took Ren's words to heart. Just now, I kept getting the feeling that she wanted to slap me."

Hearing this, a vivid image instantly popped into the next girl's mind: Yukino suddenly grabbing her by the hair and viciously slapping her like she was beating up a homewrecker...

The mental image was too much. The girl's nerves instantly tightened, and she looked at Yukino with a gaze full of extreme vigilance. This reaction left Yukino feeling somewhat baffled.

However, Sora's whisper couldn't escape Shizuka's ears. At this moment, Shizuka almost burst out laughing. *Good lord, what a guy. To think Ren's words from earlier would actually be this effective!*
